All the ones that aranged for brexit without any clear plan can go to hell as far as I'm concerned. That's why we are in such a mess now!

and please do remember what it took for the USA to get where it did, a war

How is that directly relevant to Europe? And which war did you mean?

In a way, it has already taken a war or two... or several.

Lweji · 07/02/2019 21:13

The EU is a federalising project designed to get rid of the nation state and centralise power in the hands of the fonctionnaires with the voters and the politicians being of no value and having no input.

Have you ever watched Yes, Minister? Wink

StepLadders007 · 07/02/2019 21:14

I can't remember the last time I've witnessed some many people desperate to run into the arms of totalitarianism.

Bubastes · 07/02/2019 21:16

The totalitarianism of Brexitannia.

LittleSpace · 07/02/2019 21:17

Never fear folks, apparently we have struck a trade deal with the Faroe Islands. All should be well then.

Que?
We want to stay away from "leaders" who refuse us the option of changing our minds with a second vote

Whilst I accept the faux hysteria on display here - does no one remember the 500 page "Brexit White Paper"??

Or is that conveniently forgotten about so people can run around screaming?

You mean the one that was published June 2018, over two years after the referendum, and yet still has not resulted in any agreed plan?

The one with helpful statements on how the border checks will work in practice like “explore options to use future advancements in technology to streamline the process”?

The one that I believe is now being stockpiled for use as emergency toilet paper having seemingly been pretty much torn up by the ERG and dumped by May because she can't control her own party?

That white paper? Sure, I remember it. More of a general set of aspirations than an actual plan though wasn't it.

To everyone wishing to move to Ireland...

Doctors appointment £55.00 (every time)

Antibiotics prescription £65.00 (every time)

What 500 page Brexit White Paper? Perhaps it’s faux hysteria that conjured it up in your memory?

prettybird · 07/02/2019 21:22

But but but Converse - that's not 500 pages long. And it was produced after the Referendum. Confused

That can't possibly be the 500 page detailed White Paper that Stepladders is asserting that we are ignoring but hasn't actually linked to him/herself Wink

BiglyBadgers · 07/02/2019 21:23

That 2017 policy document...wow...an aim is not a plan.

prettybird · 07/02/2019 21:24

To be fair, there was another White Paper that was produced in July last year (a whole 104 pages long Wink) - but it seems to have been quietly forgotten as the WA only bears a passing resemblance to it and Raab resigned after producing it Confused

Bubastes · 07/02/2019 21:25

at least the SNP produced a white paper before the independence referendum took pace.

TheElementsSong · 07/02/2019 21:25

What, still no link to a 500-page Brexit White Paper? I’m so surprised.

prettybird · 07/02/2019 21:27

Re Totalitarianism: remind me which Government has extended the use of Henry VIII powers and removed parliamentary scrutiny so that it can try to do what it wants? And which Government has ended up in contempt of Parliament? Confused And which Government hates the Speaker for having had the effrontery to support the role of parliament? Hmm

PerverseConverse · 07/02/2019 21:28

@prettybird it's 60 pages of ideals unicorns and rainbows. TM's introduction is dated 17/01/2017.

I think pp was referring to the WA?? That's 500+ pages.

PerverseConverse · 07/02/2019 21:29

And certainly not produced before the referendum!

prettybird · 07/02/2019 21:31

Bubastes - I've already suggested that perhaps Stepladders got confused as the 470 page White Paper "Scotland's Future" was indeed produced in advance of the referendum just not the EU one Wink

TheElementsSong · 07/02/2019 21:32

I think pp was referring to the WA?

Nah, I think they were taking a leaf from the leading Brexiteers’ book, and blatantly saying easily-disproved nonsense, knowing that whatever they say will be accepted by their followers. Appropriate for this thread, really.

PerverseConverse · 07/02/2019 21:39

Funny how brexiters can never produce any research or evidence or facts to back up their narratives🤔

I'm going to sleep but eagerly await a link from pp for when I wake up. I'd love a 500 page white paper to read over a vat of tea and a packet of chocolate hobnobs. Would make my Friday that.

prettybird · 07/02/2019 21:39

This is the wishful thinking White Paper that was produced in July last year, which includes a foreword from Raab as well as May.

prettybird · 07/02/2019 21:40

Funny but funny how we seem to be more informed than the Brexiters Hmm

TheElementsSong · 07/02/2019 21:43

None of those are 500 pages long Hmm

^^

Wait, I’ve got it - maybe there’s a special EXTRA LARGE print edition? Grin
