Everyone here (nearly) says it will be bad.
Let's hear some positives about our coming freedom from the EU!

But hey, £350 million extra every week so the NHS is saved, amirite?

bellinisurge · 28/01/2019 12:20

"No one I actually know in real life is bothered about it at all."
No one is telling you they are getting a buffer of food in @Larasshadow because they don't want to share with you.

ThanosSavedMe · 28/01/2019 12:20

Sorry Areyoufree 🤣

OftenHangry · 28/01/2019 12:21

@ThanosSavedMe Is it? I thought it was them pesky EU imurgrants going around and planting mildew into British households. Once the border is closed all that humidity will be deported with them.

Strugglingtodomybest · 28/01/2019 12:22

I didn't vote for it, but it's actually going to make my business cheaper to operate in Europe, so I personally will be making more money. I still don't want to leave though.

user1471432735 · 28/01/2019 12:22

People will be too stressed and hungry to moan about the weather so much?

Spudlet · 28/01/2019 12:23

Aha, so it's a furriner that put that nasty black stuff onto my bedroom ceiling?! Goodness. There was me thinking it was inadequate insulation in an ex-council house. You lives and learns.

So when all the furriners are gone, will I get free beautiful British cavity wall insulation then? Possibly made of blue passports printed in France?

HoustonBess · 28/01/2019 12:23

Brexit was a vote against the EU. It wasn't a vote for anything. Therein lies the problem. Leave campaigners spent much longer saying why they disliked the EU than outlining a vision for an alternative.

I personally am looking forward to people being forced to learn a more nuanced version of history than 'WWI and WWII we win everything and are morally right forever'. If Brexit goes ahead at least we'll have to develop some national humility.

I'm also looking forward to cuddling all the unicorns!

ThanosSavedMe · 28/01/2019 12:24

I don’t need this kind of excitement in my life thanks user147.....

I’m quite happy for people to prattle on about the royal family as it has no impact on my life. I have no desire to part of this nations future history books, let the royals keep it.

@bellinisurge oh yeah that it, my family and friends are just a bunch of twats who can't wait to see me starve to death!

bellinisurge · 28/01/2019 12:24

No-deal Brexit 'to leave shelves empty' warn retailers www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-47028748

Here you go @Larasshadow

mothertruck3r · 28/01/2019 12:24

EU membership didn't cause this and Brexit wont change it.

...And EU membership also hasn't helped tenants either. They still don't have security of tenure, still can be kicked out on a whim with 2 months notice, still have short tenancies, still can't decorate, still have to pay high rents for crap quality housing. How has being a member of the EU protected tenants rights or workers rights for that matter (EU hasn't stopped the Tories bringing in zero hours contracts).

findingmyfeet12 · 28/01/2019 12:25

No more foreigners sponging off our benefits system.

No more having to pander to the Human Rights Act.

All that money being wasted on the EU ploughed back into the NHS.

Being able to rebuild the empire.

What's not to love?

PerpendicularVincent · 28/01/2019 12:25

Um, a new style of passport?

MinecraftHolmes · 28/01/2019 12:25

Still, we've got it, let's hear why.

Because people were stupid enough to "be complacent" and not bloody vote??

ShartGoblin · 28/01/2019 12:25

I came here really hoping to read some positives. Personally, I don't think there are any but since it's happening regardless of my opinion I really would like something to make it all feel a bit better. Being able to say I told you so when I'm still stuck in the sinking ship really isn't that much of a silver lining.

Badtasteflump · 28/01/2019 12:26

YABU

DanglyBangly · 28/01/2019 12:27

Well, I’d say there are too many people in the country. The NHS cannot cope, the best schools are oversubscribed, commuter trains are packed and there isn’t enough housing.

What I’m not convinced about is whether that’s because we’re a member of the EU. Leavers evidently think so.

findingmyfeet12 · 28/01/2019 12:28

I love the comparisons to wartime as though the two situations are alike and we live in the same global climate.

WrongKindOfFace · 28/01/2019 12:28

I hope it will be okay but I can’t be one of these gung ho “we survived in the war” people.

I agree. Plus I really wish people wouldn’t use surviving the war as an example of how resilient we are. It was a shit time. Many DIDN’T survive.

ThanosSavedMe · 28/01/2019 12:28

It must be a combination OftenHangry

Them bludy forriners comin over ear wiv there funny damp ways and theirs no point are luvly landlords doin anyfing til there all gorn. I fink were bofe write innit

OftenHangry · 28/01/2019 12:28

@Spudlet you will! And because there will be no immurgrants you will even have that pleasure to install it yourself so you can be 100% confident no mildew was planted by that untrustworthy immurgrants 😁

SoupDragon · 28/01/2019 12:29

No more having to pander to the Human Rights Act.

Yeah, fuck those human rights, eh?

All that money being wasted on the EU ploughed back into the NHS.

Like that's going to happen.

Being able to rebuild the empire.

Don't be so fucking stupid.

OftenHangry · 28/01/2019 12:30

@ThanosSavedMe you cracked it 😂

scarbados · 28/01/2019 12:30

@mobyduck - There must be many positives or we wouldn't have voted for it, would we?

The one person I know personally who voted for it said the day after 'I voted to leave to let our council know I wasn't happy about them closing the playground in the park. I never thought 'Leave' would win'.

So if that's a positive, there it is!
