Everyone here (nearly) says it will be bad.
Let's hear some positives about our coming freedom from the EU!

Errr, our fabulous politicians will have greater sovereignty to make decisions for us. Apparently that’s what people voted for.

user1471432735 · 28/01/2019 11:54

English people are already really good at being stoic and queuing up for things?

Rationing seemed to build community spirit and national pride in ww2?

With global warming and climate change charging ahead, you’ll be getting a head start on chaos and uncertainty ahead of the rest of the world?

Sparklesocks · 28/01/2019 11:58

When the rioting kicks off I hope to nab a great telly from my local Currys…./s

Whatdoiwanttohear · 28/01/2019 12:03

The ONLY good thing to maybe come out of it is that at least we will be heading towards spring/summer rather than into autumn/winter - that's it, my one single slightly weeny positive that I can dredge up Hmm

longwayoff · 28/01/2019 12:05

Ooh, sparkle, grab me a pair of trainers while out looting. Ta.

ThanosSavedMe · 28/01/2019 12:07

We get our country back. Apparently. Not sure where it went. Or who had it. But it’s coming back.

Maybe like the world cup. Sings
‘It’s coming home,
It’s coming home,
It’s coming, football’s coming home...’

Shit. Do you think that all those leavers thought we were voting on the World Cup?

If you’re so sure that there are positives, I’d love to hear them, cos I’ve not seen anything so far and am struggling to see what positives there might be in the future.

Areyoufree · 28/01/2019 12:07

Once it has actually happened, we will all be able to stop talking about it?

ThanosSavedMe · 28/01/2019 12:09

Are you kidding Areyoufree?

We will never stop talking about this. This is it now. F O R E V E R ! ! !

mobyduck · 28/01/2019 12:09

Lower house prices, lower rents (less demand)
mothertruck3r- You are spot on- if housing becomes affordable, all the pain of Brexit will be worth it.
I think housing is the biggest issue in the UK at the moment- homelessness, renting in mildewed places at high rents or high SSD spending, bed and breakfast accommodation, struggling with mortgages- it is all shameful in one of the world's wealthiest economies.l.

Lots of rich people are going to be very happy as they get even richer. Why else would the likes of Aaron Banks have spent millions funding the Leave campaign. Yay for the millionaires!

Michael Gove is likely to be our next PM thanks to Brexit. That's a huge positive.
Isn't it Confused

BeanTownNancy · 28/01/2019 12:12

"Sovrin tea"?

mobyduck · 28/01/2019 12:12

Well, we didn't vote for it.
You apparently did.
So why don't you tell us what the positives are?

I was so complacent we would remain, I didn't vote!
I was shocked at the result.
I think it is all a clusterfuck that was not necessary.
Still, we've got it, let's hear why.

All those people with non existent jobs will be able to buy cheaper homes...

OftenHangry · 28/01/2019 12:13

There are marshall law plans being put in place, but yaaaaay. Housemarket crashes. So it's all fine.

Are you being serious? Do you think demand for rented accommodation will be lower? Nah.

userschmoozer · 28/01/2019 12:14

homelessness, renting in mildewed places at high rents or high SSD spending, bed and breakfast accommodation, struggling with mortgages
EU membership didn't cause this and Brexit wont change it.

After WW2 when we built council homes to house homeless servicemen and their families. We weren't in the EU then, but the economy was stronger than now.

Areyoufree · 28/01/2019 12:15

ThanosSavedMe But that was my last hope of something vaguely positive! Don't destroy my dream!

FriedaTheBreeder · 28/01/2019 12:16

But even if house prices and rents drop it won’t make much difference to affordability if everything else is more expensive and unemployment rises.

Bluelady · 28/01/2019 12:17

Apparently we're going to get the mother of depressions if we leave and civil war if we don't. What a choice. And you're asking for reasons to be cheerful, OP? Well, sorry but there aren't any.

Larasshadow · 28/01/2019 12:17

Seriously we don't know what is going to happen after Brexit. No one knows. It's all speculation. I doubt life will actually be much different, everyone on here gets so stressed out over it. No one I actually know in real life is bothered about it at all.

ThanosSavedMe · 28/01/2019 12:17

You gotta love how the EU is blamed for everything. And how once we’re out it will all magically be fixed.

Yes those rented houses covered mildew, once we’re out of the EU all those landlords are suddenly going to fix the houses and start maintaining them. After all, it’s only the UK’s EU membership that has stopped them doing it.

TheWomanin12B · 28/01/2019 12:18

There is nothing positive and house prices crashing helps no one because it won't be happening as an isolated event. It just isn't how things work.

The only people that will benefit are the super rich asset strippers. People have been spectacularly conned.

CardinalSin · 28/01/2019 12:19

Ah yes, house prices crash and lots of people lose their jobs leaving the rich to buy up all this property at knock down prices! They're bound to reduce rents for everyone, seeing as they're doing it out of the goodness of their hearts and all...

user1471432735 · 28/01/2019 12:20

It will be exciting to live through a period of historical significance... up until now it’s all been about the bloody royal family and their inability to stay married. This is a bit more meaty for the history books.

England is already producing everything we need, so there’s no need to trade with other countries; they can all fuck off and soon we will be living like wholesome characters in an Enid Blyton book

We might have Boris for PM and he and Trump can talk about hair styling together?

GalacticChickenShit · 28/01/2019 12:20

There must be many positives or we wouldn't have voted for it, would we?

We? Who is we?
I bloody didn't. My country didn't.

Positives? Um... proof that the majority of English voters are stupid? Wink

Spudlet · 28/01/2019 12:20

Supermarket shopping will take much less time because the shelves won't have half as much choice and the cost of fuel will reduce traffic congestion? Erm, yay?
