Leaving Neverland, being shown at the Sundance film festival and in the spring on Channel 4....I love his music and have believed he was vilified by the racist media, and by greedy individuals and families after his money; but am really not so sure of his innocence any more. I guess that's my aibu- that we have to listen to his accusers don't we? I was sexually abused as a ternager, and not believed. It was a profoundly damaging experience.

Your assumption of their being a witch hunt, is lacking any real proof, as it didn't really happen. By really happen, I mean, there may have been a couple local things... In the UK (please don't use Dan brown as proof, as his "facts" are well out) there is no historical proof or recording of a national witch hunt, and killing. Tho as I said, locally there were a few rare killings over being a "witch".

A town I grew up in, had a road (next to my school) called duck pond road. Rumour has it, that it used to be a "ducking" pond back in ye olden days. However, I've never seen or heard of anything similar, and that included a town infamous for the works of Judge Jeffries!

I can't actually believe that he got away with it. Or that people are deluded enough to think he didn't abuse kids.

There is so much evidence.
Multiple boys said he abused them. He had a naked photo of one of his "boyfriends". Staff said they saw him fondling the boys. He admitted he slept in a bed with boys. Omar one of his "boyfriends" pretty much admitted he was sexual with little boys.

Yes some of the boys stayed friends with him. That doesn't prove he didn't abuse them, it just means he did a really good job of grooming them and likely continued to help them with their careers and financially.

Also I don't know why people worship him so much. He was a weirdo and drug addict who made crappy pop music. He wasn't jesus.

frankiesamson · 29/01/2019 16:34

I remember a time when my grandfather was accused of being a paedophile by strangers in public, just because he was kneeling down & saying hello to a little girl. We were all there and the accusation itself made us all feel very uncomfortable, since it was the farthest thing from his mind.

frankiesamson · 29/01/2019 16:37

@HowlsMovingBungalow I agree with you that real paedophiles should be punished & corrected but I also believe the world has gone a bit mad, just not in the way you think.

It is possible to be friendly to kids without being a paedophile.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 29/01/2019 16:39

@frankiesamson Do you understand what rape is? It isn't brushing past someone.

This thread is unbelievable.

LuvSmallDogs · 29/01/2019 16:42

frankiesamson, I am not going to bare more of my soul to you, suffice to say I know what he did to me and what he was convicted of doing to other girls. I am not going to provide more detail to a stranger on the internet, when for all I know you are a troll or getting off to any details I provide.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 29/01/2019 16:44

Flowers @Luv

FromEden · 29/01/2019 16:45

Ffs frankiesamson are you for real? I'm not sure how brushing past someone could possibly be confused with digital penetration. This after banging on about the age of consent which is completely irrelevant when the victim is 7 years old. Disgusting paedophile apologist.

Wtf! I cannot believe the way some posters seem to be defending child abuse. There some shocking posts on this thread.

There is SO much evidence, factual evidence including words from his own mouth to support the viewpoint that he was a paedophile who abused children.
I really wanted to believe him innocent but there is too much stacked against this viewpoint and we HAVE to listen to the victims or accusers.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 29/01/2019 17:33

I'd love to know what 'real paedophiles' are because I don't ever recall ever hearing the term 'fake paedophile'.

macblank · 29/01/2019 17:33

Hear say, isn't just hearing about something.

When a close friend had been "interfered" with, they came knocking on my door, and told me n a female flatmate, what had just happened, and subsequently, called the police.

We were asked to give statements, in regard to what she had told us. We weren't treated as "hear say's", as we had been told immediately after the fact.

I am also surprised at the lax attitude of some on the possibility that mj was (I know he wasn't convicted) a peadophile. What if this was your relative, that had been involved?

They'll always be accusations for famous people, but sometimes, just sometimes, you got to open your eyes n read between the lines. It would seem what some had suspected for many years (or at least since that big court case) that something wasn't right, and now with this documentary, it would appear as we were right.

However, I don't believe in condemning the dead, who can't answer back. I don't mean that in any way to be disrespectful to those who suffered.

I too was abused as a child by those responsible for caring for me.... As I always joke... Weren't the 70s children's homes great! If you're genuinely interested because of personal reasons, I'll happily discuss via pm. I am not ashamed of my violaters, I did nothing wrong.... Mind it's also the reason I am.left with MH (mental health) particularly Complex PTSD.

Hi there everyone.
We can see that this is a long, long thread and we've no wish to interfere but we have deleted some posts recently and wanted to give everyone a chance to read our We Believe You campaign, perhaps before posting further?

HowlsMovingBungalow · 29/01/2019 17:39

Be very careful offering to talk about your personal journey as a survivor @macblank - MN is littered with all manner of trolls.

and Flowers and most healing thoughts to those who have suffered sexual assault.

Firstworddinosaur · 29/01/2019 18:09

Sorry for what you went through @Luv Flowers

frankiesamson · 29/01/2019 18:58

Well since MNHQ aren't allowing me to express my personal opinion- having erased my posts although I haven't attacked anyone or broken the guidelines- I probably won't contribute any more.

As soon as the admin of a forum break their own guidelines & won't allow posts that disagree with their personal views, there's not much point in posting.

nolongersurprised · 29/01/2019 19:32

frankie you can google till your heart’s content but the age of consent in the US (North America) is not 12. It is 16, 17 or 18.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ages_of_consent_in_North_America

It’s kind of odd that you keep wittering on about “the age of consent” as well.

SemperIdem · 29/01/2019 19:59

You broke the guidelines of their campaign frankie - don’t be so obtuse.

backendofabus · 29/01/2019 20:41

I do wonder what evidence it would take for Jackson's fans to believe that he did abuse?

One of my favourite singers has defended Jackson on numerous occasions. It makes me so uncomfortable. There's so much hypocrisy in the world of celebrity - we believe you, except if you accuse someone we like, and we support #metoo, but we will dismiss your experiences if it doesn't suit the agenda.
