Leaving Neverland, being shown at the Sundance film festival and in the spring on Channel 4....I love his music and have believed he was vilified by the racist media, and by greedy individuals and families after his money; but am really not so sure of his innocence any more. I guess that's my aibu- that we have to listen to his accusers don't we? I was sexually abused as a ternager, and not believed. It was a profoundly damaging experience.

@joystir59
Why do u feel sorry for his kids, who have said many times in interviews that he was the most amazing father?

frankiesamson · 29/01/2019 15:00

@jessstan2 you say the full documentary is on YouTube, which I very much doubt- it isn't even out in the US or UK yet- can u link to it?

HowlsMovingBungalow · 29/01/2019 15:03

Ah! The paedophile apologiser returns.

frankiesamson · 29/01/2019 15:05

@nolongersurprised check again-
Google "age of consent US"

"The federal law establishes the age of 12 as the minimum age of consent, while the age at which there are no restrictions for consensual sexual activities is 18 (sex with someone 12-18 is not illegal per se, but can still be open to prosecution under certain circumstances)."

@anitagreen "I was always under the impression that because he lost out on his childhood he wanted to recreate his childhood for the rest of his adult years"

@SalemtheBIackCat and you can see now
by me writing that how much it actually worked, I'm very glad my eyes have been opened but Christ why did it take me so long to just ignore it? Feel really wrong about it all I have a young boy and girl would I fuck ever let some stranger sleep in their beds with them Confused

Always knew there was something really creepy about him.

I just don't understand how such serious allegations could be concealed for decades. He was high-profile. How can someone under "constant" surveillance from the paps commit repulsive and devious behaviour?

Tootzatwhoa · 29/01/2019 15:10

his staff

Wonder if anything will come out?

frankiesamson · 29/01/2019 15:11

@HowlsMovingBungalow I personally think the age of consent should not be lower than 18, but I don't know if MJ was guilty or not. I've probably watched and read more of the evidence than yourself. Have you even seen the 2009 documentary? If not, why do u judge so readily? If yes, why weren't u so up in arms back then? There's nothing new in this documentary.

Age of consent around the world varies massively:

All of u need to call down stop insulting each other. We're all on the same side.

EmeraldShamrock · 29/01/2019 15:13

Haven't rtft but guilty as soon always has been. His wrap excuses of a lost childhood should never have been excepted.
His DC may say he was a great Dad, though he was a very mentally ill dad, he hide out in Ireland for ages, he seemed paranoid and deluded in previous interviews.

frankiesamson · 29/01/2019 15:14

@macblack actually, legally, if something can't be proved then u are innocent. Hence the term "innocent until proven guilty".

This is why there are no more witch hunts in this country, where they would kill people because they might be a witch.

frankiesamson · 29/01/2019 15:16

@Howismovingbungalow I don't know what you've read of watched, hence why I asked the question. I noted you avoided it though.

frankiesamson · 29/01/2019 15:19

@EmeraldShamrock you judge someone without even knowing them. How do u know he was paranoid or hid out in Ireland, did u speak to him? Paranoia is only paranoia if the thing you're paranoid about isn't true. Many victims are accused of being paranoid, until its later discovered they were telling the truth.

LuvSmallDogs · 29/01/2019 15:21

If it looks like a duck, waddles and quacks it’s almost certainly a damn duck. I was groomed and abused by a serial paedophile. They don’t just groom the kids, they find an angle to groom the parents too.

MJ obviously had superfans/stageparents prepared to serve up their kids to him. “My” paedophile established a cheap club where he taught a sport to kids and went above and beyond to ingratiate himself to parents. He would “help the little kids undo their sportswear so they can go to the toilet”, and make other pre-emptive excuses. In retrospect, it’s hard to believe how many red flags my parents ignored, because he was charming and had befriended them.

frankiesamson · 29/01/2019 15:23

@HowlsMovingBungalow
I truly hope you don't use that language around your children, and that u teach them a more open minded point of view.

Don't forget none of us have even seen the new documentary yet! You're forming concrete opinions by other people's reactions to it.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 29/01/2019 15:23

A few of those superfans are here on this thread.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 29/01/2019 15:25

Hahaha!

You finding swearing disgusting but are on here defending a paedophile?

Okay love!

frankiesamson · 29/01/2019 15:28

@LuvSmallDogs back in the day, teachers would whip children. It was a different culture. Did your sports teacher have sex with children?

We are reaching an age where the public can be so quick to judge that many fathers are afraid to go shopping with their young daughters, without their wife being present.

Many grandfathers are given odd looks just for being friendly to a strangers child. This never used to be the case in the generation they came from.

frankiesamson · 29/01/2019 15:29

@Howismovingbungalow I'm not swearing or insulting people, you're doing both.

Vasilisa19 · 29/01/2019 15:31

"his staff

Wonder if anything will come out?*

Yes, that is what I am thinking. Someone like MJ must have been surrounded by hundreds of people either staff or associates. Someone must have seen/heard/had concerns. If they begin to come forward then that will absolutely help other unspoken victims.

I do think there is something institutional about the whole thing. I suspect JJ was keep the Jackson brand protected, but it may also go sidewise or upwards. I imagine there is still money in MJ name. Once it loses its profitability then I suspect it will all come unravelled.

Tootzatwhoa · 29/01/2019 15:54

There's stuff on red dot. I found this;

One of Jacksons first accusers was a boy in Sussex, England who met him in a hotel after trying to get an interview with Jackson after a performance in 1978 and gave Jackson his phone number, to which Jackson called to tell him he was masturbating. All of this conversation prior to the phone call is recorded and available to hear online. All of what I'm saying is public knowledge, and reading the prosecutor AND defenses litigation documents online. The defense made the prosecution unable to use any evidence that didn't pertain to the 2003 victim, otherwise I really do think the trial would have gone much differently in 2003

There's more.

Tootzatwhoa · 29/01/2019 15:54

Stuff on reddit that should write

LuvSmallDogs · 29/01/2019 15:59

frankiesamson, yes, he raped children, and digitally penetrated children, grabbed developing breasts, talked dirty. I am not saying that helping children take clothes off was it, I am saying that he came up with little pre-emptive excuses, so that if Anna says “Mr Jones touched my private parts”, the parents will think “well, he must have brushed her when undoing her trousers, he told us he helps her”.

LuggsaysNotaWomen · 29/01/2019 16:18

Abusers always take out the power bases first, which means they either have to separate their victim from their safety network or, if that’s not possible, groom the support network first.

MJ is a textbook example of an adult grooming other adults, gaining their trust, lavishing them with “favours” and I wouldn’t be that shocked if he also had some blackmail material on them too. There will have been little boundary violations all the time that would have worked to both take down the parents natural defenses and encourage than to ignore the bigger red flags.

He was an incredibly calculated predator and the fact that he had a shitty childhood does not excuse it.
