To think that some pizza flavours are just unacceptable

Probably gonna get flamed but I have stayed silent long enough on this inflammatory topic and I'm prepared to go down with my ship.

Pizza in it's truest form is just a thin dough with a tomato base made from San Marzano tomatoes topped with mozzarella.

BBQ sauce. Hoi sin. Sweet chilli. Chip shop curry. Chipotle. Masala. Mango chutney. Bechamel sauce.

these are all things that, while delightful in their own context, are heinous on a pizza

My worst pizza was in Malta too - i was veggie and ordered a pizza which was egg and cheese and spinach. When they brought it out, it also had gravy poured over it!

😄It was quite traumatic. Weirdly sweet and wrong.

I wondered about the chip thing in Italy. It was still ok because the Italians couldn’t mess up pizza if they tried.

We seem to overthink pizza here. Agree with pps. Freshly made,, simple, minimal is the way to go. And a thin base.

Gravy on pizza?! What were they thinking??
