To think that some pizza flavours are just unacceptable

Probably gonna get flamed but I have stayed silent long enough on this inflammatory topic and I'm prepared to go down with my ship.

Pizza in it's truest form is just a thin dough with a tomato base made from San Marzano tomatoes topped with mozzarella.

BBQ sauce. Hoi sin. Sweet chilli. Chip shop curry. Chipotle. Masala. Mango chutney. Bechamel sauce.

these are all things that, while delightful in their own context, are heinous on a pizza

Pizza purists unite - what is the worst pizza combo you've had?

Pizza blasphemers don't come @ me bitchez.

You're all wrong! Aldi sweet chilli chicken pizza is the food of gods Grin

MotherOfDragons90 · 26/01/2019 17:25

Had a ‘seafood’ pizza on holiday in Sardinia once. Sounded nice on paper but when it arrived it was a bizarre medley of prawns/mussels/cod and the whole thing was wet with fishy water and it just wasn’t ok... makes me gag remembering it!

MotherOfDragons90 · 26/01/2019 17:26

I’m also in the minority that thinks pineapple pizza is a dream

FiveGoMadInDorset · 26/01/2019 17:29

@itsbritneybiatches sadly in Dorset I think the furthest North they are is Bristol

Thisnamechanger · 26/01/2019 17:30

Weirdest pizza toppings I ever saw were in Italy. Hot dogs and fries for one (not at the same time).

My dc had them together on a pizza in Italy. No cheese.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 26/01/2019 17:37

outfoxed, we have friends who live in a non holiday bit of Portugal. Their local pizzeria also does banana (tuna & banana!) and curry toppings.

bubbling · 26/01/2019 17:44

Béchamel with duck and goats cheese.

What the actual fuck.

It was VILE

(I was abroad, and I have to say, languages are not my strong point)

I also accidentally ordered chittlings on that holiday. 🤢🤢🤢🤢

Polarbearflavour · 26/01/2019 17:44

The Dominos cheeseburger pizza is yummy. Having chicken BBQ now mmmmmmmm! All pizza is good.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 26/01/2019 17:47

I used to love the white sauce pizza that pizza hut used to have as part of it's buffet years ago (which it may still have, but I don't really go now the kids are older and happy to eat more reasonably varied foods!) - it had a white sauce, cheese (I think), sliced mushrooms and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. Really rich though and I could only eat a slice or two.

CanIcryandlaugh20 · 26/01/2019 17:51

Oh I do love bbq bass instead of tomato though 😂
I also like sausage, chicken strips and pineapple 😂

Polarbearflavour · 26/01/2019 17:55

I really miss the Dominos double decadence base.

headstone · 26/01/2019 17:57

The worst pizza I’ve ever had was in Italy . It had no cheese on it whatsoever and apparently it was meant to have no cheese on it. I was disgusted.

SquishyFishy · 26/01/2019 18:05

Pepperoni and pineapple on a pizza together is amazing! 😁

BubblegumFactory · 26/01/2019 18:21

Simple pizzas are definitely the best, however, my absolute favourite has to be pizza express Fiorentina - spinach, olives and an egg. It just works.

tiggerkid · 26/01/2019 18:26

I don't have pizzas that often because DH isn't too fond and I could do with losing some weight :), so we try to stick to things that we both like to eat but yesterday my son tempted us to order one from Domino's, where I haven't been for years!

The first thing I noticed was their Cheeseburger Pizza Shock

So we went for that, and I loved it Grin

Where do you shop or go to for your pizza? I've never seen or heard of anything like that!!!!!! Smile

MorningsEleven · 26/01/2019 18:28

My favourite pizzeria had a "design a pizza for our menu" competition. There were true monstrosities like barbecue sauce with chicken jalfrezi and pineapple and tuna Bolognese with nachos.

My entry was taleggio, asparagus and truffle oil. I won the bugger! My pizza made the menu and they gave me a free meal for four. Proudest moment ever.

mummmy2017 · 26/01/2019 18:35

Try Goats Cheese and Caralised Red Onions....

kiiwii · 26/01/2019 18:40

Pineapple and sweetcorn is the Don of all toppings!

PootlesBobbleHat · 26/01/2019 18:47

I'm a purist too. I love plain but well-made food.

I have perfected my own thin base, and topping, but my favourite topping is black olives and mozzarella.

Acceptable additional toppings include

Anchovies
Roast Mediterranean vegetables
Mascarpone
Pepperoni
Rocket
Basil
Maybe goats cheese.

I've never been to Italy but would love to go one day.

StrangeLookingParasite · 26/01/2019 18:49

I think you'll all enjoy (even if that includes screaming with outrage) the menu of this pizza shop in Melbourne, Australia

thesockgap · 26/01/2019 18:51

On holiday in Spain last summer, we spotted a "Thai pizza" in the frozen section at the supermarket. We didn't dare to try it, but from the picture on the front it had carrots and spring onions on it, among other bizarre ingredients!

QuitMoaning · 26/01/2019 18:52

I love proper Italian pizza and reading this has made me pine to go to our family home south of Naples.

Luckily the flights are booked and we are flying out early tomorrow morning so 24 hours and I will be having authentic Italian pizza, probably Quattro stagioni.

LittleSwede · 26/01/2019 18:54

Outfoxed, the first thing I do when I pop over to Sweden is visit our local pizzeria, quite often the order will involve curry, peanuts and always bernaise! 😋

zukiecat · 26/01/2019 18:56

I only like a pizza if it has BBQ Sauce on it

Along with peppers and onions and not too much cheese

Anything else is horrible
