On the 22nd of December we had a delivery man knock on our door for a parcel for a lady 4 doors away from ours.

I took in the parcel for them and signed for it even though I don't know them.. my thought was that it's a neighbour and possibly a late Christmas present they didn't want to miss.

We attempted delivering the parcel to them every day, twice a day, from the 23rd-30th because they didn't come to collect. On the 2nd of jan we put a note through the door to say the parcel was with us and we attempted many times to deliver it to them.

We still have this parcel!!

Today I saw a lady come out of the house as I happened to be walking down the street to my car. I stopped her and explained we had a parcel for their house and explained the attempted deliveries and note. She laughed and said 'oh I know, thanks. We don't need it now and have had a refund for it' Confused
so then I said to her that it belongs to them and they need to return it if it's not needed. She said while walking away from me 'ha! Well I didn't sign for it' Shock

What do I do with it? Can I now be in trouble for doing what I thought was a good deed for a neighbour?? Sad

Seriously tempted to just leave it at their front door.... but I did sign for it Shock

Oh my god OPEN THE BOX!!!!!!

LittleMe03 · 20/01/2019 10:57

Ok so DP had enough of me talking about this box since he got in last night, so about 20 mins ago he took the box to attempt one last delivery. Said he would leave it on the doorstep if they didn't answer.

He knocked, they opened living room curtain and looked directly at him and then shut the curtain, didn't come to the door.

DP comes back with the parcel and says, fuck them then, I'm opening it.

I try to tell him it's a Sunday morning and some people might not want to answer at this time if still in night clothes etc and that we should have maybe waited until later.

He opened it anyway!

So hear you go... this is what is in the box. I have had soap and glory stuff before actually and it is nice but I feel slightly guilty now we've opened it Blush

I know I'm not so just after some advice..

Faith in humanity restored Grin

Enjoy

CurtainsOpen · 20/01/2019 10:59

@bridgetreilly
If it were me I would actually report them for fraud.

Neighbour hasn't received parcel, neighbour received refund. How's that "fraud"?

YourFly · 20/01/2019 11:00

Weird. They prob got sent a refund plus another parcel for their inconvienience.

LittleMe03 · 20/01/2019 11:00

Jeeze, calm down everyone. I went to bed at 10pm and have had more to do this morning than update on here.

Shock

Did you mean to be so rude?

Clutches pearls and flounces

AppleBlossomArseCheeks · 20/01/2019 11:08

Ooh I would use it op

BlueThesaurusRex · 20/01/2019 11:18

Of course you had more to do this morning- you had to nag husband to the point of exasperation to get him to open the box and absolve yourself of responsibility Grin

YetAnotherSpartacus · 20/01/2019 11:20

Was I the only one hoping for a mad sex toy?

GinandGingerBeer · 20/01/2019 11:21

Well, you've not exactly covered yourself in soap & glory Grin

QueenArseClangers · 20/01/2019 11:25

Enjoy your bath OP!

LittleMe03 · 20/01/2019 11:33

DP has just nipped to the shop. He comes back and says, the neighbours are outside wanting their parcel now, what shall I say??

Thankfully he started laughing within seconds so I knew he wasn't being serious but wow I hope that doesn't happen!

I'd still ring Amazon because they'll probably tell you to keep it anyway - just looked it up and it's £22.50 on their site

waxy1 · 20/01/2019 11:38

You badgered the neighbours quite a lot, actually.

LittleMe03 · 20/01/2019 11:40

@Serialweightwatcher

I have already emailed them this morning

OP posts:
LittleMe03 · 20/01/2019 11:41

@waxy1

We hadn't spoken to them between 30th December and yesterday Hmm

We were trying to give them something that belonged to them

Hell, if it had been a sex toy I'd have badgered them some more - chased them up the street with YOOOOOOO HOOOOOO your vibrator with extra tingly bits has arrived! We tried to give it to the cat as a toy, but he won't touch it - do take it back - it's yours!

LittleMe03 · 20/01/2019 11:42

Well actually we didn't speak to them at all until yesterday because they never answered the door GrinGrin

Tiredismymiddlename85 · 20/01/2019 11:43

I think your OH has the right attitude 'fuck them' - seriously STOP WORRYING!

WatchingFromTheWings · 20/01/2019 12:43

Use the stuff! If they or Amazon do come after you, just say you delivered it to their doorstep and left it there as they wouldn't collect. Consider it compensation for doing them a favour taking the parcel in/storage fee for looking after it!

And don't take anything else for them ever again!

LittleMe03 · 20/01/2019 12:58

No I won't make the mistake of taking it parcels for them again.

A soap and glory set..well that was an anti climax Grin

December2018 · 20/01/2019 13:48

Damn!!
I was expecting a severed finger or something really dramatic 😂
Invisibility cloak would have been fab!
.... although I do like a bit of soap & glory 😜

ShaggyRug · 20/01/2019 13:59

I would wait until they were out, sellotape a picture of an offensive finger gesture to the pots and post each one though their letter box Grin
