Mike Levine
@MLevineReports
At press conference just now, Roger Stone agreed that he’s a “law and order” person — but says only certain “process crimes” should be prosecuted. If they’re not “material” to an investigation (like the lies he’s alleged to have made) then they shouldn’t be prosecuted, he said

And to be clear, he is the one suggesting the alleged false statements he made are not material to Mueller probe.

How is the snow over there, is it affecting you guys.

AcrossthePond55 · 31/01/2019 21:53

Not here in sunny California mini Grin. And as far as I'm concerned Scrotus can spend the rest of his term playing golf and leave governance to the grown ups!

I'm not surprised by that article lion. We used to have iron-clad whistleblower protection laws, but those were 'busted' when GW Bush and his anti-union brigade took office. Now the protections are hardly worth the paper they're written on. That woman is very brave to speak up as she has.

NEWS: Trump is considering naming HERMAN CAIN to the Federal Reserve Board.
Cain had a long corporate career and knows the Fed system. He was on board of Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City from 1992 to 1996.

Herman Cain was at the White House yesterday to talk about this, I'm told.

Nominating Cain for the Fed board raises the prospect of a US Senate confirmation hearing that resurfaces the sexual harassment allegations that emerged during Cain's presidential campaign.

Mueller requests more time to prepare for Roger Stone trial

AcrossthePond55 · 31/01/2019 23:43

I think Stone is going to be a tough nut to crack North. And I think Mueller wanting more time is as much about getting him to cooperate as it is actual prep to prosecute him. But once again, we're up against Stone's 'fear' of prison vs his belief that Scrotus will pardon him. A calculated risk, to be sure.

Roussette · 01/02/2019 07:27

I can imagine Stone will fight tooth and nail, he comes across as a cocky bastard.

Does anyone else think there are now lows on everything? All I read just seems worse and worse.

Just concluded a great meeting with my Intel team in the Oval Office who told me that what they said on Tuesday at the Senate Hearing was mischaracterized by the media - and we are very much in agreement on Iran, ISIS, North Korea, etc. Their testimony was distorted press....
..I would suggest you read the COMPLETE testimony from Tuesday. A false narrative is so bad for our Country. I value our intelligence community. Happily, we had a very good meeting, and we are all on the same page!

These tweets come when he admits HE hasn't read the testimony. After HE tells his Intel community they are passive, naive and they should go back to school. And after the testimony was broadcast live and the Intel services directly contradicted what Trump had said on ISIS, NKorea and the southern border.

And now he is blaming the media for mischaracterising?? You couldn't make it up.

Whilst I have never agreed with the dementia thing that gets bandied about re Trump because I think that's an excuse for his behaviour, I am now beginning to wonder.

www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/mueller-investigation-update-russia-probe-trump-concord-management-evidence-private-files-a8755461.html

'Russians have obtained evidence from special counsel Robert Mueller’s inquiry into Moscow’s interference in US politics and altered it in a bid to discredit the probe, federal prosecutors have claimed.

The files were shared with attorneys working for Concord Management and Consulting, a Russian company that allegedly funded hacking operations by Russia’s Internet Research Agency (IRA), they said in a court filing.

The sharing evidence and documents between prosecutors and defence lawyer as part of routine discovery is common legal practice.

But the files shared by Mr Mueller's investigation were later uploaded and disseminated on Twitter in October.

However, the files shared online, "appear to have been altered and disseminated as part of a disinformation campaign aimed (apparently) at discrediting ongoing investigations into Russian interference in the US political system,” the court filing states.'

Erik Prince company to build training center in China's Xinjiang

www.reuters.com/article/us-china-xinjiang/erik-prince-company-to-build-training-center-in-chinas-xinjiang-idUSKCN1PP169

BEIJING (Reuters) - Hong Kong-listed Frontier Services Group (FSG), co-founded by former U.S. military services contractor Erik Prince, has signed a deal to build a training base in China’s far western region of Xinjiang, the company said in a statement.

Xinjiang is an important part of China’s sprawling Belt and Road infrastructure network but the region has faced attacks blamed on members of the Muslim ethnic Uighur minority, to which the government has responded with a security clampdown that has drawn condemnation from rights groups and Western governments.

That disinformation is exactly what I'd expect to see from the Russian government.

They also present things as "leaks" as a way of disseminating disinformation, and mix fake stuff in with real stuff.

Conceals the true origin of the material, gets the audience excited and distracted that they're getting "secrets", and increases doubt and mistrust among any of the audience who do twig the material contains fake stuff.

I remember learning about the INF treaty at school and being thankful that I wasn't around for the Cuban Missile Crisis as it sounded terrifying. The cold war and detente was one of the things I enjoyed learning about the most at school but I didn't think I'd ever see the undoing of the non-proliferation treaties. Frightening times.

Pain your Gizmodo story about the fake comments to the FCC re net neutrality is fascinating.

It's noticeable that so many of the fake comments (attached to stolen IDs) supposedly arguing against net neutrality, were actually just boiler-plate alt-right-type rants against Soros and "leftist liberal global elites".

Perhaps some of that is explained by the paragraph below.

Fake FCC Comments Linked to Ex-Trump Campaign Director's Org, Boosted By Roger Stone
gizmodo.com/fake-fcc-comments-linked-to-ex-trump-campaign-directors-1832233664

On Tuesday, Stone pleaded not guilty in federal court to charges of lying to Congress and obstructing the special counsel’s Russia investigation. (Incidentally, in October, federal prosecutors also described in the indictment of Russian accountant Elena Khusyaynova how net neutrality became a key focus of Russian disinformation campaigns aimed at exploiting Americans’ existing political and societal divisions.)

At last.

Brexit: Leave.EU and Arron Banks' firm fined £120,000 over data breaches
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-47087440

The fines follow an Information Commissioner investigation into the misuse of personal data by political campaigns.

The report says more than a million emails sent to Leave.EU subscribers contained marketing for the Eldon Insurance firm's GoSkippy services. Eldon Insurance has been fined £60,000 for the breach.

In addition to the £45,000 fine for that breach, Leave.EU was also fined £15,000 for "using Eldon Insurance customers' details unlawfully to send almost 300,000 political marketing messages".
[...]
Information Commissioner Elizabeth Denham said: "It is deeply concerning that sensitive personal data gathered for political purposes was later used for insurance purposes; and vice versa. It should never have happened.

His Intel Chiefs must just be tearing their hair out and gnashing their teeth.

Do they stand up and say 'NO, we weren't misquoted' and risk losing their jobs or do they remain quiet, hope that the public will know who's telling the truth, and thereby stay in place to help guide our Intel Services and keep our Country safe (despite Scrotus' best efforts to the contrary).

Honest to God, for the real experts to see what he's doing must be just as frustrating and scary for them as it would be for a group of brain surgeons to stand by and watch a chimp do a craniotomy.
