From Bette Davis, who was too canny to name names. Smile

Here is the old thread:

Bannon/Stone/Mueller 'link' per CNBC

www.cnbc.com/2019/01/25/steve-bannon-is-high-ranking-trump-official-mentioned-in-roger-stone-indictment.html

AcrossthePond55 · 26/01/2019 21:17

From the article

"The indictment released Friday said the campaign official reached out to Stone in October 2016, a month before President Donald Trump was elected, "about the status of future releases by Organization 1." The unidentified organization clearly refers to WikiLeaks and Julian Assange".

AcrossthePond55 · 26/01/2019 21:20

Dammit! I keep pushing 'enter' too soon.

It also says that Bannon has spoked to both Mueller's team and the Senate Intel Committee (GOP led) about the exchanges that took place with Stone but does not say when that occurred.

Odd.

I missed it the first time round and even 2017 seems an age ago but what a peculiar insight into Trump and co.

Thanks Claws. Explosive. I can't pretend to understand it all but surely Stone is up to his neck? And Trump's tweeting is going to be his downfall....

Here it is on thread Reader. It makes it easier to read

One bit that stuck out is with regards to the Russian meeting with TrumpJr. at Trump Tower that was supposedly to dig the dirt on HRC. The question is how was POTUS involved, was he there, did he know etc etc.

"There’s been credible news sources indicating that Trump helped his son create a false statement to the press concerning the nature of that meeting.
Trump apparently crafted the statement during his flight home from the G-20 Summit on Airforce One. The night before he dictated Junior’s cover story, he spent an hour talking privately with Putin. He relied solely on Putin’s translator."

Shock Shock An hour on the phone to Putin with no record of that conversation?Shock

And the final tweet says...
The special counsel investigation has already delivered the evidence we need to take action to remove from office a corruptly compromised president who, in the word of veteran reporter Carl Bernstein, “helped Putin destabilize the United States.”

lionheart · 27/01/2019 10:23

The thread from Taub was interesting, The Claws.

Wasn't Hope Hicks also involved with that statement?

For all that’s going on in America, we’ve got the threat of martial law looming over us in the U.K., which could see the implementation of travel restrictions, property seizures, curfews and might enable politicians to make legislation free from proper checks and balances. I’m feeling utterly terrified today and wondering if just upping and leaving is still doable.

That it’s holocaust Remembrance Day today is also sobering.

AcrossthePond55 · 27/01/2019 16:17

Pain Is this because of Brexit?

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 27/01/2019 16:53

It is - this is in a major broadsheet newspaper

UK ready to declare martial law to avert no-deal Brexit chaos

The government is gaming the use of drastic powers to halt unrest if the UK crashes out of the EU

www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/news/uk-ready-to-declare-martial-law-to-avert-no-deal-brexit-chaos-bfqgzzlrw

Mandarins are considering how to use the sweeping powers available under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 to stop any civil disobedience resulting from the nation leaving the EU on March 29.

Curfews, bans on travel, confiscation of property and, most drastic, the deployment of the armed forces to quell rioting are among the measures available to ministers under the legislation.

They can also amend any act of parliament, except the Human Rights Act, for a maximum of 21 days.

And in case you were relieved that at least the human rights act was going to be preserved:

Theresa May to consider axeing Human Rights Act after Brexit, minister reveals

www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/theresa-may-human-rights-act-repeal-brexit-echr-commons-parliament-conservatives-a8734886.html

Wordthe · 27/01/2019 17:32

martial law, state of emergency
it feels as if we in the UK are being brought into lockstep with the USA

CaveMum · 27/01/2019 17:38

Without wanting to give too much away, there is a lot of Brexit planning going on in the military at the moment (DH is part of the planning but can’t tell me what they’re planning for).

cozietoesie · 27/01/2019 17:40

Out of interest, did 45 make reference to the fact that it was Remembrance Day?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 27/01/2019 17:47

That is behind a paywall, but I look at who owns the Times and what his agenda is and I am not sure how much I trust what that newspaper has to say.

And I am unsure how well a junior minister knows Theresa May or how he knows what she will or will not do. Unlike Trump, she probably doesn't want to become dictator.

Wordthe · 27/01/2019 17:49

DH is part of the planning but can’t tell me what they’re planning for
then you must monitor him closely for clues...is he stocking up on things etc??

AcrossthePond55 · 27/01/2019 17:50

Oh dear! That's the problem, when one world leader in a democratic country starts to 'go rogue' it sends the message to other leaders in similar counties that it may be a viable option for them, too. Scary.

To the best of my knowledge he hasn't so far today cozie. But in the US Holocaust Remembrance Day is done during Yom HaShoah, which is in April so I don't think it means anything that he hasn't.

Wordthe · 27/01/2019 18:02

he's gone rouge alright and it's an alarming message
when (please God please) they bring him down that will also send a message

although it might just be that you cant become king of the world if you're as dumb as a rock
