to think I can't be the only one who is a mess on the school run?

DSD (7) and DS (3 months).

School run I'm about to do this morning (DSD lives 16 miles away so it's a trek at this time when roads are nuts!).

I've got leggings and underwear on I had on yesterday. Still have my pyjama top on under my jumper/coat. Haven't brushed my teeth yet. Etc etc.

Totally exhausted from breastfeeding all night. Found it easier when DS was 0-8 weeks as he slept a lot better. The last month has been HARD!

DH does most of the school runs but he doesn't have to wake up in the night to breastfeed so always has time for a shower and seems really together.

I'm just... a mess when it's my turn!

Anyone else?

I plan on going straight back to bed when I get in as I'm exhausted!

Leave your dirty knickers on her windscreen next time! Haha .......how annoying, I feel your pain...used to live opposite a primary school side entrance, people would park on and over our drive and then got abusive when I said anything grrrrrr

Catsandbootsandbootsandcats · 18/01/2019 10:11

I don't even have the excuse of a baby and I sometimes do the school run with jeans over my pyjamas. I don't give a fuck.

I did the same when I had newborn twins and was bloody exhausted.

I just hate mornings.

Go and have a nap. Naps are great.

whatsthepointthen · 18/01/2019 10:13

I dont bath in the mornings for the school run, I dont have a shower only a bath (cant afford to get one installed) and baths take ages I simply dont have the time with 4 and the school are already on to me about lateness but im exhausted with 4 small children as a lone parent.
My sisters neighbours seen me a few times on the school run and went back and told her I look a mess! and she actually felt the need to come back and tell me Hmm I do have clean underwear and brush my teeth though but because I dont bother with my hair and make up, last thing on my mind when trying to get 4 kids out the door,

yanbu its hard!

Waspnest · 18/01/2019 10:14

You sound like you're doing brilliantly. When DD was 3 months I think I hardly left the house (she was a terrible sleeper, I was so tired I could not be arsed doing anything that was unnecessary).

(And you have my total respect for the French plaits. DD was lucky if she went to school with two roughly even bunches, and I didn't even have a baby to deal with.)

StoppinBy · 18/01/2019 10:15

When my youngest was not sleeping the amount of times I managed to sleep in then end up with only enough time to get eldest up and ready, throw on some clothes and tie my hair back, then end up a few minutes late, were way more than the times I got up in time.

Congrats to all the ladies that have their shit together.... cheers to those of us who aren't quite so great at juggling all the balls Grin .

As a side not we live right behind the school, like a 4-5 minute walk and as above I still managed to do the school drop off in dirty clothes and a few minutes late about 70% of the time last year.

crimsonlake · 18/01/2019 10:16

I cannot get over the fact you wear knickers to bed, your bits need to breath at night. By the time you have posted on here you could have showered.

LeenaMarie · 18/01/2019 10:19

@crimsonlake I post on here when I'm breastfeeding. Can't do much what! Also, I've always slept in pants and my bits have never had trouble breathing Grin

As long as the one going to school has clean pants and teeth then who cares!

Yes indeed.

Purplecatshopaholic · 18/01/2019 10:21

No one will even notice. Dont beat yourself up. I look like a right skanky cow when I walk my dog first thing in the morning and to this day no one has phoned the police or social services or the SSPCA on me yet! You are doing a great job!

O4FS · 18/01/2019 10:22

I often put on yesterday’s knickers and leggings first thing, just to get kids off to school (I don’t have a school run anymore) and walk the dog.

Shower and change when it’s not rushed.

Absolutely nothing wrong with what you are doing. Fuck it.

LoniceraJaponica · 18/01/2019 10:22

Ignore all the sug parents of multiple children. I remember when DD was tiny and EBF. I was so glad I didn't have a child to get to school.

Why are you driving 16 miles to get your stepdaughter to school? Why isn't her mother taking her, why isn't her father doing it or why isn't she living with you? This is unsustainable.

LoniceraJaponica · 18/01/2019 10:22

smug, not sug

Coralnails · 18/01/2019 10:22

I can't get over the fact some some people can't get over that people do things differently to them.

Woman wears pants in bed, it's hardly shocking is it.

Charlie97 · 18/01/2019 10:23

@crimsonlake bits to breath? I generally let my nose and mouth take care of the breathing Grin

Honeyroar · 18/01/2019 10:24

Laughing at Sparkle saying she hopes you don't get slated on here, people can be mean after assuring OP that her underwear will smell and telling her how she smugly manages to cope on the schoolrun, a tad pa there!

I used to do the schoolrun in my jodpurs straight after doing the horses. One of my stepson's friends asked if I had any other clothes!

ivegotthisyeah · 18/01/2019 10:29

Give her a break!!!! Poor woman! If it any comfort I've just done the school run drop off in a onesie with my coat over and me and my other two all have the sickness bug! Like someone else said my priority was to get my eldest to school on time. Shower is next on the list!

Spudsandspanners · 18/01/2019 10:31

To be honest I wouldn't care. Most of us will be sitting in dirty underwear and not have brushed teeth as we're nearing the end of our life.

This is coming from someone who never goes out without makeup, showers twice a day and has clean clothes on everyday. I wouldn't judge, it's none of my business and your little one is 3 months old and probably cluster feeding. I understand.

MrsDrudge · 18/01/2019 10:31

Don’t worry about it! Yesterday’s underwear and unbrushed teeth won’t do any harm! Do the school run and sort out your underwear and teeth when you get back. Or have a snooze instead if baby allows x

Nala8 · 18/01/2019 10:31

Sounds like your a great mum and doing a really good job especially while breastfeeding! Give yourself a break and enjoy it all Grin

Worriedmummybekind · 18/01/2019 10:40

You are superwoman! Bf, lack of sleep and older kids is really tough. Don't listen to the judgement brigade! I swear by a lovely hat and gloves, covers up your bed hair and makes you look vaguely together without any effort.
Doubt anyone will be examining your knickers! If anyone does think you look a little unkempt they will just think, gosh XX must have been up all night with little one. Only someone unpleasant will think something unkind. So actually it should be a good for friendships!

thaegumathteth · 18/01/2019 10:44

So glad this thread turned around. The first few posts made me think I was in an alternative universe!

'I cannot get over the fact you wear knickers to bed, your bits need to breath at night.'

I had to give mine CPR last night because I forgot to take my undies off!

Do you own a few jersey dresses? They take two seconds to pull over your head, put your hair up in a messy bun or if short make your hands wet and go through it. You'll look ok ish in mere seconds.

LeenaMarie · 18/01/2019 10:54

@explodingkitten thankfully my hair is currently in box braids Smile
