to think I can't be the only one who is a mess on the school run?

DSD (7) and DS (3 months).

School run I'm about to do this morning (DSD lives 16 miles away so it's a trek at this time when roads are nuts!).

I've got leggings and underwear on I had on yesterday. Still have my pyjama top on under my jumper/coat. Haven't brushed my teeth yet. Etc etc.

Totally exhausted from breastfeeding all night. Found it easier when DS was 0-8 weeks as he slept a lot better. The last month has been HARD!

DH does most of the school runs but he doesn't have to wake up in the night to breastfeed so always has time for a shower and seems really together.

I'm just... a mess when it's my turn!

Anyone else?

I plan on going straight back to bed when I get in as I'm exhausted!

When mine were babies I loved winter because you can hide your hair under a hat

Never have time for a shower

Sleep is my no 1 priority.

Blimey when my ds1 was 3 mo I struggled to leave the house by 10..... You are doing great. It does get easier. By DS3 I could shower, load a machine, turn on the slow cooker, listen to reading, cook a breakfast and still Do a school run by 8:30! 😂 Don't beat yourself up.

Didiusfalco · 18/01/2019 09:37

wildestflower perfume and lipgloss!? Nobody gives a fuck.
Op you’re doing great. This thread is a bit bonkers. You’re looking after the kids and getting dsd to school on time. The world will not end if you change your underwear and brush your teeth after 9.00am.

MrsBandersnatch · 18/01/2019 09:41

I'm dropping mine I ten mins and I have yesterday's make up, hair all over the place and yesterday's clothes half of which I've slept in

Yup. That sounds more like me in the baby days. OP sounds perfectly cat-walk ready in comparison.

SoWhat21 · 18/01/2019 09:42

Jesus it’s your first baby you’re probably only just getting hang of bf. at least when I had to negotiate school runs with newborns, I wasn’t a first time mum. With my first I frequently didn’t get around to showers until the afternoon. Getting DSD to school on time is priority one. Showering can wait.

Thatwasfast · 18/01/2019 09:43

What sort of issues do all of these ‘same underwear is disgusting’ people have?! I think I could wear mine for two days and there not be a smell issue. Maybe see a doctor to see is you have BV/a continence issue?!

You’re doing greatOP. I dropped my three year old off this morning with yesterday’s jeans on and unabridged teeth - came home, finished my coffee, brushed my teeth and back to breastfeeding. I managed snog or breath on anyone on the way there, so Noones the wiser! 👍

@Hoppinggreen I've never posted about this before! Completely different poster!

@Hoppinggreen ah sorry missed your second post!

Also, I'm another person who hasn't worn perfume since my baby was born. Or scented deodorant or hairspray! I also don't wear anything on my lips as I like to be able to kiss the top of his head whenever I please without leaving makeup on it Grin

LeenaMarie · 18/01/2019 09:47

Anyway. I just got home. I'm still sat in the car as someone has parked across my drive Angry so waiting for them to get back before I go anywhere as want to tell them off!

Perfectly normal as an occasional thing with a tiny baby.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 18/01/2019 09:50

Good lord these threads can be judgmental. So unchanged underwear won't feel pleasant, but no one's going to notice that (unless it's commonplace to have your legs around someone else's head at school drop-off). Oh, and don't breathe on anyone if you've still got a fur coat on your teeth.

Nothing produces the same kind of bone-crushing, mind-numbing exhaustion - the sort you fear is going to send you demented - as breastfeeding all night on minimal sleep. It's 3 1/2 years since I stopped and I shudder to think how it nearly had me on my knees. I guess I didn't look as though I'd just stepped off the pages of 'Glamour', either.

You're prioritizing your children and giving your baby a wonderful, healthy start in life. Yummy Mummy can take the place of Scummy Mummy when that gruelling time is over, and in the meantime you have one unimportant internet stranger's permission to be as unrepentant as you like! Oh, and enjoy your nap. You've earned it.

JudasPrudy · 18/01/2019 09:52

I like to sterilise myself from head to toe 5 times a day whether I have kids to look after or not.

AllMYSmellySocks · 18/01/2019 09:53

Don't listen to all the smug people. Much better you breastfeed and sleep than worry about what you look like on the school run. Underwear being worn for 12 hours is fine - it's not like you're wearing them all week. Lots of people don't shower every day so it really is fine if you haven't showered first thing in the morning.

The school run isn't a job you don't have to look professional. As long as you drive there safely on time, , hug your kids goodbye, are nice and friendly to anyone else you happen to see you're doing fine (some people could do with worrying more about being nice to people and less about how they look).

wildgirls · 18/01/2019 09:54

I’m a mess on school runs and don’t have the excuse of a tiny baby. Im always the mum in a huge rush inevitably with one child moaning and me looking totally out of control!! Always have the mum guilt once their dropped off!
So good on you for everything you’re doing! As long as the one going to school has clean pants and teeth then who cares!

wildgirls · 18/01/2019 09:54

*they’re

Fightingfit2019 · 18/01/2019 09:56

Ooooo can you turn this into a parking thread now?! Grabs some 🍿

Anonalongadingdong123 · 18/01/2019 09:59

As long as you're OK with it, who cares. If you're not OK with it and it's getting you down then I'm sure there's loads of 'helpful suggestions' in the PPs!

LeenaMarie · 18/01/2019 10:00

DSD has clean pants, brushed teeth and even two french braids! Quite proud of myself for that last one lol. She was desperate for them. I said no 3 times but gave in eventually. She did look very cute...

Ignore my first post, bloody do breath on them!!

Spicylolly · 18/01/2019 10:04

More importantly has the cf that blocked your drive gone yet? Lol

My kids are now 11 & 15.....I'm still a mess in the mornings. You're doing a fab job!😘

Meangirls36 · 18/01/2019 10:06

Your not messy and these mums with super noses need to relax a little. God it must be exhausting being that fussy.

LeenaMarie · 18/01/2019 10:08

The woman who parked across my drive is a nightmare. There's a nursery near us and loads of people park along the street. It does my head in as people park on both sides of the road (DH couldn't get his van down the road once and it's not even big because people parked opposite each other so close!). She obviously thought I was at work.

When she comes to collect her child she turns up an hour early and parks across the drive. If I ever get back before she has picked them up she just pulls the car across the road. I accept this but she wasn't in her car today.

Told her kindly I would have her car towed if she did it again as I need to get my DS in the house and don't fancy parking down the street! I wouldn't even know how to go about getting a car towed but she doesn't know that 🤷🏽‍♀️

@LeenaMarie now you've changed this thread to a parking one..... we need a diagram! Sorry!

Annasgirl · 18/01/2019 10:10

Congrats op. I was like this when DC 3 was a baby, got my other 2 to school then came home and had a shower - or sometimes a sleep then a shower.

Take it easy on yourself. This place is full of perfect people - the rest of us just try to muddle through. Getting DSD dressed and fed and to school and breastfeeding a baby is a huge achievement- and you still have a full day ahead of you !!!!
