to think that May should resign

They survived the confidence votes but only by 19 votes. Surely she should go now?

OP posts:
Laiste · 16/01/2019 19:19

Who would you replace her with?

Genuine question.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 16/01/2019 19:19

No absolutely not. 19 is about right. It’s the majority she has.

curiositycreature · 16/01/2019 19:20

Can’t they all resign?

StoneofDestiny · 16/01/2019 19:20

10 of those votes were 'bought' DUP votes.

Cookit · 16/01/2019 19:21

Wait, would you expect the opposition to vote that they have confidence in her?

She won by her majority more or less.

JasperKarat · 16/01/2019 19:21

Are you genuinely in favour of Rees Mogg or Boris finalising Brexit??? God help us

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 16/01/2019 19:21

Yes, always has been. She was therefore right to buy them. She could rely on them when it came down to it.

PinkGin24 · 16/01/2019 19:23

Er no.... she won the confidence vote by roughly the expected majority.

SillySallySingsSongs · 16/01/2019 19:23

19 is about right.

Corbyn gambled and lost.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 16/01/2019 19:24

And replace her with who? Lord this country is going through enough don’t rock the boat further

RedWineIsFabulous · 16/01/2019 19:24

Really?

So it’s ok for Corbyn in June 2016 to lose a motion of no confidence vote by his OWN Labour Party and IS STILL THERE yet May wins but should resign???

How selective the Labour voters memories are.

HmmHmm

I don't want anybody to finish Brexit for us, finish it off for good maybe but not finish the process. I can't see how she can carry on in government after the mess she's making of it all.

OP posts:
confusedandemployed · 16/01/2019 19:26

Absolutely she should. She has presided over the most shambolic government in history. She has betrayed her own views in favour of staying at the top of the greasy pole. She has played fast and loose with people's lives and livelihoods while every policy / legislation other than Brexit has been put on hold. She has conducted the most disastrous negotiations with the EU, seemingly with no care for the ticking clock. She has refused cross party cooperation which might have helped break the impasse. She delayed the vote by over a month in the futile hope that she could get it through parliament when in reality we could be 5 weeks further on by now.

And the despicable cow had the gall to warn us that a GE would only delay the progress on Brexit.

She's disgusting.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 16/01/2019 19:26

Do you follow politics at all OP? I don’t think you do.

RedWineIsFabulous · 16/01/2019 19:28

Confused

Is that you Diane?

Cookit · 16/01/2019 19:28

I don’t think she’s making this mess. They all are. Conservatives and Labour equally at fault.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/01/2019 19:29

I'm just none plussed as to why they keep on having these "No Confidence" votes. When they all love her so much and just vote to keep her.
They only had one a few weeks ago, didn't they.

Mind you if she does go. Who replaces her.

Edgeworth · 16/01/2019 19:29

She probably should resign, but as a Remainer I'm sort of glad she hasn't. Realistically, this government is paralyzed on Brexit - unable to pass a deal and opposed to No Deal. A second referendum seems to be their only way of breaking this deadlock.

A new GE would could see an actual conservative majority, then getting a deal through Parliament would be easier. Ditto a Labour government with a softer Brexit.

SillySallySingsSongs · 16/01/2019 19:30

And the despicable cow

Nice language there.

Everything you have said also applies to Corbyn. He gambled with this vote and lost it, whether you like it or not.

TokyoSushi · 16/01/2019 19:30

She should, but she won't.

AmIAWeed · 16/01/2019 19:30

She was never going to have an easy job. Frankly she cannot win
She's a remainer who ended up leading Brexit. The deal she offered wasn't what people wanted - it was like getting divorced but still living with your ex!
I am yet to see anyone who can deliver what was voted for, IE a true Brexit
I think the majority of people, regardless of how they voted did not agree with the deal she found. That was voted out
Tonight's vote shows that noone else really wants the job, is willing to do the job and as such Theresa May stays in an impossible job.
Genuinely only time and I mean a good 10-20 years will show if she's done a good job or not.
I genuinely wish her the best of luck

confusedandemployed · 16/01/2019 19:32

@SillySallySingsSongs rubbish. Read my post again. It's physically impossible for Corbyn to have done even half of what she has done. And she is despicable.

SillySallySingsSongs · 16/01/2019 19:33

@Awwlookatmybabyspider You are confussing 2 seperate sorts of votes.

The one in November was as to whether the Tories wanted her as their leader (just like Labour had with Corbyn in 2016)

The one today was no confidence in the entire government.

AmIAWeed · 16/01/2019 19:34

confused of course she has done more than half of what Corbyn would have. For a start, other than giving away other people's wealth what would he do?!
