To think takeaway pizza at a 4 year old’s party is an odd choice?

Just that really. I’m not especially neurotic about what my kids eat. I’m happy for them to have the odd happy meal every couple of months or the occasional chocolate biscuit. But a pile of dominoes pizza at a party in a hall just seems a little much.?

I’m fully prepared to accept it if I’m being unreasonable because I can’t quite put my finger on why I wasn’t keen on this. Maybe it’s the salt. Anyway daughter is now asking for the same thing at her party next week and I’m really not sure.

Sounds fine for a party.

PotteringAlong · 12/01/2019 15:46

Sounds amazing to me. Minimal effort and you know the kids will eat it. Win win.

Sirzy · 12/01/2019 15:47

Something most kids will eat.

Something the adults can eat the left overs easily.

Sounds ideal

LaurieMarlow · 12/01/2019 15:47

I don't see the problem. What do you think they should have?

Sparklesocks · 12/01/2019 15:48

I think it’s fine, would you have an issue if it wa supermarket pizza?
It’s easy, kids like it and easy to serve/dish up - great for parties.

SaucyJack · 12/01/2019 15:49

I’d think it was a waste of money when you can buy nicer ones for a 2 quid in Tesco.

But meh on the junk front. No worse than any other crap kids eat at parties.

PinkHeart5914 · 12/01/2019 15:50

Pizza was made for parties! Seriously if you can’t eat pizza at a party when can you?

I have no problem with it

Pachyderm1 · 12/01/2019 15:50

I think for a party it’s ok - it’s a treat, not a regular occurrence.

KitsandCaboodles · 12/01/2019 15:50

Pizza sounds like perfectly normal party food.

HappyTheCroc · 12/01/2019 15:51

I dunno I mean i had planned to do the usual sandwiches crisps etc. Standard party food. I think it just seems really really unhealthy to me but I accept it’s perhaps my own issue and not a problem.

No I wouldn’t have as much of an issue with supermarket pizza I guess. Like the wee mini pizzas are nice for parties. It just seems so salty and greasy to me.

I wouldn't worry, most 4yo will only probably eat a small quantity

It's not like they are having takeaways every other night is it?

But if you don't want to do it at your party don't!

MiceSqueakCatsMeow · 12/01/2019 15:51

Yum!!

Parker231 · 12/01/2019 15:51

Sounds ideal party food as the children will eat it. What party food were you expecting?

KitsandCaboodles · 12/01/2019 15:51

I have very fond memories of a pizza party in PizzaLand for my fourth birthday. I'm still here to tell the tale so the pizza didn't do me that much harm.

KitsandCaboodles · 12/01/2019 15:52

Salty and greasy. A bit like crisps then?

PinkHeart5914 · 12/01/2019 15:52

Your average 4 year old doesn’t eat a huge deal anyway so it may be salty and greasy and delicious of course but they aren’t eating that much.

When you think of they had a sandwich/sausage roll/ party rings/crisp/cake etc not much difference really

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 12/01/2019 15:53

Can’t be any more unhealthy than the crisps and cheap sausage rolls usually served and I doubt any child is going to eat a whole 12 inch deep pan to themselves.

RCohle · 12/01/2019 15:53

Yeah, I'm not sure why the crisps and presumably cake you were planning on serving was any better. It's a party, lighten up.

megletthesecond · 12/01/2019 15:54

I don't think it's a problem. Less hassle for the parents and the kids will eat it (allergies excepted, we don't do takeaways).

Celebelly · 12/01/2019 15:55

The crucial point is: were there any sides? I love the chicken strippers and potato wedges with garlic and herb dip.

PrettyPurpleDress2 · 12/01/2019 15:55

Sounds wayyyy better than sandwiches!! Almost every party we go to has pizza served. I thought it was standard.

Billballbaggins · 12/01/2019 15:55

It’s fine. It’s a party, just as unhealthy as the shitty sausage rolls, cakes, crisps and sandwiches you usually get at parties.

Putyourdamnshoeson · 12/01/2019 15:55

Yanbu op. Incredibly salty and a bit weird imo.

Aragog · 12/01/2019 15:55

If its in a hall - maybe they didn't have cooking facilities to use, or didn't fancy using the ones provided.

Take out pizza would be far less hassle for the parents at the party - pre order to come at a set time and then serve up. No washing up afterwards either.

Party food is rarely healthy, so that aspect definitely wouldn't bother me. It's a party - it doesn't always need to be humous dips and olives. I've done the healthier party options - half of it gets left. The crisps and the pizza type food rarely does! Even when you know that every day the same children eat the healthier stuff at home and school.

I grew up on parties of jelly, ice cream, buns, potted meat sandwiches, crisps and party rings. All washed down with fizzy pop or squash. We loved party food as it was so diferent to what we were allowed the rets of the time!

LAlady · 12/01/2019 15:56

Great idea. I remember doing the same about 10 years ago for my both my DS's and DD's respective parties. Always very popular
