Stub your toe. Stubbed little toe earlier on the table leg. Of course no shoes or slippers on to cushion the blow. Air very quickly turned blue Blush followed by toe turning a lovely shade of bluey/purple. Nice 9 hour shift later and it is bloody agony.

I've lost 2 toenails one to stubbed toe one to some numpty stepping on my foot in steel toecap boots! The ingrown toenails were far worse! Every step a stab!

Not something one can do to oneself but in terms of worst pain ever - twisted ovary!

I've lost 3 babies and that includes an ectopic, had pleural pneumonia, endo, migraines and a 28 hour pain relief free labour - twisted ovary BY FAR the worst pain EVER.

However close second - when I burnt my mouth on soup at school and couldn't get to a cold drink fast enough by time I did tongue and roof of mouth were PEELING! Couldn't eat or drink anything that wasn't very cold for weeks!

Lemon juice or vinegar or bleach in a paper cut is pretty sore too but quite short lived.

To the pp with the corneal abrasion "issues" NEVER watch final destination 5!

Once had a coffee table that no matter where I put it I kept hitting the corner into the side of my knee! I eventually conceded and got rid (I'd searched high and low for it because it fitted my then 50's style living room).

Also - when you sit on a sofa and accidentally sit on the support in the middle right on your coccyx! Nobody breathes in harder than when they do this!

Room101 degloving injuries are the WORST to witness and really hard to treat. It really bugs me when I see parents allowing or WORSE encouraging their kids to treat escalators and travelators like bloody toys! They are basically huge, powerful people shredders! I would love there to be more screenings of the public service video that shows how dangerous they are. And let me just say - this is the LEAST damaging injury they could get! I've seen the results of a child wearing sandals not stepping off in time. The emergency prevention cut off doesn't always work quickly enough.

Sinusitis! Omg yes! I've had it for years, dd had her first bout recently (previously somewhat less than sympathetic of mine) she thought she was having a migraine and described to me, I sussed it was sinusitis and gave her a sudafed - cue cleared sinuses and coughing up crap! She promises now to be more understanding when I get my every bloody month in winter bouts! (Yes I've been referred to ent etc I have a deviated and enlarged septum which could be operated on but only 50/50 chance of improvement or MUCH Worse. Uncles had the surgery and regrets so I've decided not to)

The best one was my ex though. His first migraine he LITERALLY thought he was dying. I was saying it was a migraine, he wouldn't listen to me. Went Drs who of course dx migraine, one dose of meds and right as rain (wish that happened for me!) at this point I had migraines (plural) every month due to hormones/undx endo - again he was not exactly sympathetic, even though his mother also a sufferer (but much less frequently). After this he was MUCH more sympathetic.

If you can get people to empathise with a similar experience it can be useful. Pre dx my dad didn't really appreciate how painful my periods were. We both suffer from truly horrendous heartburn/painful hiccups/trapped wind, one time he asked me to try and help him understand how bad the period pain was, I said something along lines of:

"Ok imagine the worst trapped wind you've ever had X at least 3, PLUS heartburn, PLUS painful hiccups, PLUS back pain, PLUS thigh pain like you've been doing loads of stairs the day before, PLUS migraine, PLUS low blood sugar like you've not eaten for over 24 hours, PLUS dizzy spells... And you're getting close" his face? 😱😱😱

And yes the twisted ovary STILL worse!

Old fashioned sash window dropped down on my fingers. Thought I would lose a few nails.

ItsalmostSummer · 09/01/2019 03:16

Pulled a 30 year old wart off my finger. Had to pull the bugger up to get the root out as no freezing or other efforts had ever gotten rid. Bloody hurt. Best thing I ever did as it was due to come off.

olympic19 · 09/01/2019 03:27

Paper cut in the webbed bit between your thumb and forefinger. Wanted to cut my bloody hand off.

MawkishTwaddle · 09/01/2019 03:36

Perineal abscess.
Kneeling on Lego.

It’s a toss-up.

OldPosterNewUsername · 09/01/2019 03:37

Falling out of a window 30 metres off the ground and fracturing two vertebrae was quite painful for me.

kateandme · 09/01/2019 03:37

falling over and landing chest first onto corner bed post....broke.my.chest.literally!

Rafabella · 09/01/2019 03:46

Cuddling my cat in my dressing gown. He was all relaxed and 'puddling' away. DH dropped something - made a loud noise. Cat launched himself off my chest. Back paw slipped inside my dressing gown and made contact with my skin. Claw sliced through my left nipple. To say I screamed was an understatement. Have never known pain like it. Took ages to heal.

brizzledrizzle · 09/01/2019 03:51

A needle half way down behind my thumb nail had me in tears.

Rafabella · 09/01/2019 03:57

@thighofrelief101. OMG I had quinsy too a few years back. Had totally forgotten about that!. My DS was little so my DH stayed home and I drove myself to the local out of hours emergency GP practice. Shaking so badly the pain in my throat was indescribable. Spitting into a cup - swallowing was not an option. Luckily they caught it before the abscess burst. My brother had quinsy too at one point. He ignored his, the abscess burst and he spent a week in the infections unit in hospital.

rabbitfoodadvocate · 09/01/2019 04:00

I'll add top of the hand getting stuck on the grill Bob!

Still remember that, 10 years on and have the scar to show for it!

A 4 hour trip on a small speed boat on a choppy sea when you have broken ribs.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 09/01/2019 04:11

A toddler hand, a fire, amputation of fingertips with no anesthesia or pain relief, due to a doctor mistakenly thinking your nerves were dead......

I still do not trust hospitals.

Biggerknickersagain · 09/01/2019 04:21

Ton weight horse with metal feet that goes deaf and doesn't respond to arm waving, shouting and shoving (ya know, the things horses are meant to be scared of, sudden movements and loud noises!) And instead stands with the tip of his toe on the tip of yours.

And.leans.all.his.weight.on.that.foot.

Bastard.

The end of 3 of my toes is still flat.

Purplecatshopaholic · 09/01/2019 04:31

Cracked ribs. Worst. Pain. Ever..! When I sneezed I thought I was going to die!

Nellabella · 09/01/2019 04:44

These are making me cringe! I’m awake after my 1 year old head butted me on the nose- she’s now snoring contentedly.

Grating your knuckle is pretty grim, made me go cold and shaky.

Worse actual pain was ear infections , I had several one after the other one year , it sounds so minor but jeez the pain was awful!

I want to know how you shut the car door on your EAR?!?!

LeukaeLucky · 09/01/2019 04:49

Bone marrow
I cried so much every single time
Second would be the horrible rib cage pain I'm currently experiencing
Both worse than childbirth (no drugs and babies over 4 kilos x3)

ShannonRockallMalin · 09/01/2019 04:56

Currently into day six of dental abscess. Want to rip my own head off.

LeukaeLucky · 09/01/2019 05:05

@OldPosterNewUsername how?? Confused

Peachesandcream30 · 09/01/2019 05:08

I was sitting down stroking my little dog all peaceful and lovely and then my fingernail somehow got caught in my dogs fur and my dog had a sudden burst of energy and jumped up and sped off and my fingernail ripped REALLY low down, only a few centimetres from the bottom, oh it was agony. The worst thing is, it didn't rip all the way off - it was still hanging on my a tiny thread. So for a good three weeks, until it grew enough to finally pull if off from a non-agonising height, I lived in terror that it would catch on something and rip off more. Ohhh it doesn't sound so bad but it makes me cringe just thinking about it.
