Stub your toe. Stubbed little toe earlier on the table leg. Of course no shoes or slippers on to cushion the blow. Air very quickly turned blue Blush followed by toe turning a lovely shade of bluey/purple. Nice 9 hour shift later and it is bloody agony.

And once, a hand blender stopped working and I poked the blades while I was still holding the switch down. Like a proper stupid twat. Of course, it whirred back into life, taking part of my nail and a small slice of my finger with it.

I did exactly the same thing when DD was a baby. Except I cut a tendon in my left index finger, had to have it operated on and go through several months of physio. The pain took a while to kick in that time. Confused

BrainSurgeon · 11/01/2019 15:22

My personal worst was having a car door completely shut over my finger but that's nothing compared to the stuff I read here.

Is anyone else reading this thread and clutching muscles they didn't know they had, curling into a ball and twitching with every new agony high?

Eminado · 11/01/2019 16:44

Best wishes to you Flowers

Eminado · 11/01/2019 16:46

Sorry that was for @LeukaeLucky

CigarsofthePharoahs · 11/01/2019 16:53

I've just remembered -
Cellulitis in my nose. It swelled up like a tomato and the pain…
I need to wear glasses and I couldn't, it was like an axe to the nose. Excruciating nose pain or migraine from not wearing my glasses?
Also, it made the whole world smell like stale wee.

LeukaeLucky · 11/01/2019 18:49

@eminado thanks Flowers

Coralnails · 11/01/2019 18:59

I think the worst was dry socket after having four wisdom teeth out.

Graphista · 11/01/2019 19:17

I know lighthearted thread but I'm so sick of seeing patients especially women with gall bladder issues continually repeatedly dismissed! It should be a bloody scandal!

"It’s shocking how sensitive toes are, you have my full sympathy OP." They're so important we take them far too much for granted. When I had both big toes toenails removed I was shocked how much it limited my mobility and screwed my balance. I expected bottom half to be affected but no whole body had to move completely differently while I healed.

Just thought of the daftest one I did - disclaimer it was the 80's!

Dancing in from room while parents out bro challenging me to high kick higher than him, forgot I was wearing pencil skirt and he was in far more practical trousers! Kicked hard, skirt wouldn't give so other leg swept away in motion fell back and cracked head on coffee table! SO MUCH BLOOD! Bro laughing sis passes out! Have to call mum and dad home - they were not impressed. Sympathetic enough and took me to a&e for once over as bro did say I was a bit dazed after. Couple stitches. But...similar to pp the light coloured carpet did not come off well! Mum was not happy as it was less than a year old and the front room now looked like a murder scene! Dad ended up forking out for a rug to cover the stain as they couldn't afford a full carpet ☺️

Syntocinon drip with no anaesthetic. The only time in any of my 3 labours when I lost it totally

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 11/01/2019 20:37

What? I had that and no anaesthesia. Are you supposed to have it?

OhDearGodLookAtThisMess · 11/01/2019 21:39

Ramming a garden fork through a toe.
Spiral break of tibia and fibula being manipulated back into shape.

OhDearGodLookAtThisMess · 11/01/2019 21:39

Oh yes, and pilonidal sinus too.

HomeEdRocks18 · 12/01/2019 00:15

TCP on shingles has to be THE worst pain I have ever felt, and I've stood and knelt on lego, trapped my fingers in a door, given birth with no pain relief, stood on an upturned plug and had gallstones!

sweeneytoddsrazor · 12/01/2019 00:21

@HomeEd DH had really bad chicken pox a few years ago. I never realised how bad adults got it he was literally covered from head to foot. He went to put calamine lotion on his nether regions and accidentally used TCP. Don't think the resulting scream will ever be completely erased from my memory.

Inadvertently biting onto some foil from a sweet when you’ve got old lady mercury fillings

Christmasfairy07 · 12/01/2019 00:26

I couldn’t believe how painful it was to break a toe & I managed to do it twice! Karate sometimes had a lot to answer for! I thanked God for my very sensible, incredibly comfortable sandals from Clark’s. Complete lifesaver.

delboysskinandblister · 12/01/2019 01:19

@therealjoseph

I should have just said 'No'

Smotheroffive · 12/01/2019 01:27

Stopping hiigh speed hockey ball with big toe! Split nail in half, lots of blood and swear the pain was going to kill me.

Never felt as sick as coming flying off a bolting horse at top speed and landing on coccyx, instantly vomit inducing.

But...I have seen someone else have the ingrown toenail OP and I have never seen anything so painful. I would rather chop my toe off, seriously I would.

Like I'd rather pull a tooth than suffer another root abscess

Smotheroffive · 12/01/2019 01:28

...and I've stepped on a plug or two in my time too..so I have the benchmark

delboysskinandblister · 12/01/2019 01:28

Oi! it was MY nasal injury and MY Toblerone

Think how you unwrap and bite into one - this was the days when the 'peaks' were too close together before they redesigned it to look like a toast rack. Apparently they have reverted to original format but I still have flashbacks so I shall not go there...

@Schaedenfreude - the cocaine topped Toblerone....?

I take it this was a Christmas version? Not something I noticed in Lidl...

Smotheroffive · 12/01/2019 01:30

...and broken toes..still the ingrown toenail surgery tops the list ..only surpassed by needles in the eyes..which I have neither seen and hope never to experience

delboysskinandblister · 12/01/2019 01:46

@greeneyedlulu

Having a bit of your fanny flap caught in the twisty part of the speculum during a smear test!!

I'll take your fanny flap and raise you a cervix being nipped when the GP slipped the speculum. All he could mutter was Oh, sorry
Whilst I was biting my lip to stem the 'f*g cnt' under my breath.

At least I was tirribly British about it..

Carahfaye · 12/01/2019 07:09

Sabineundine
I also get that inner thigh cramp thing.DP keeps telling me to massage it and stretch it out!..want to kick him in the balls and tell him to do similar but can't speak or move till the agonising pain subsides!

Allergictoironing · 12/01/2019 08:01

Oh another pretty bad one - out riding, horse took me under a low hawthorn branch. Got back to the yard and they had to hold me down while they cleaned the scratches out with surgical spirit. Took about 20 years for the scar right by my eye to completely go away.

BoringSoupBeforeTheTurkeyFeast · 12/01/2019 08:35

Closing the car door before my leg was out of the car completely, catching my ankle/calf.
The pain. THE PAIN.
