I have no idea what else it could be, but it just doesn't feel right?
I'm in agony with lower back pain, blood gushing, clots and have just vomited for about 5 minutes. Horrendous headache and slept for 3 hours today despite a relatively good nights sleep. I have never had a period like this, but it seems to be the only possible explanation. Can a period be this bad?

If you are concerned call 111.

Wotev · 08/01/2019 20:44

I can't very well call 111 saying I've got my period!

InternetRandomer · 08/01/2019 20:45

Phone 111 and say what you’ve said here. Doesn’t sound like just a period to me.

Polarbearflavour · 08/01/2019 20:45

Could you be pregnant OP?

Wotev · 08/01/2019 20:46

100% not pregnant.

OP posts:
Neverenoughspoons · 08/01/2019 20:46

Any chance it could be an ectopic pregnancy? I would definitely ring 111 if I were you.

MarthaArthur · 08/01/2019 20:46

Actually you can if its outside the norm heavy bleeding and sleeping for abnormally long periods with unexplained pain. 111 is a triage service that will sign post you to the appropriate place to seek help.

Neverenoughspoons · 08/01/2019 20:46

Cross posted. I’d still be ringing 111.

Epiphany52 · 08/01/2019 20:47

That doesn’t sound right. I went into A&E once. It was an awful period - turned out I was anemic which can make them worse - but they checked me out and scanned me none the less.
Worse getting checked out I’d say.

Dartilla · 08/01/2019 20:48

Sounds like my normal period - but that's normal for me every month.

Anything unusual for you, you should definitely see your GP about.

fifipop185 · 08/01/2019 20:48

Call 111. Better to be told "it's just a bad period" than not get help when you may really need it.

MadameJosephine · 08/01/2019 20:51

It’s hard to judge from what you’ve said but If blood is literally ‘gushing’ then that is not normal and I think you need to be seen ASAP. Do you have a walk in centre near you or I would even consider going to A&E depending on how much blood you’ve lost

Icklepup · 08/01/2019 20:51

I'd call 111 as it's not normal for you.

Wotev · 08/01/2019 20:54

That's the thing, I would be mortified to be told to man up it's just a period. 111 is like triage for A&E and I'm certainly not an A&E case with a blooming period. Maybe I've escaped with very easy periods all my life and I'm suffering now. If it's relevant, I haven't had a period for 5 months. I'm possibly menopausal? 41? The pain and the vomiting are new. I've had heavy periods before with clots. Sorry for the gross details. Definitely not pregnant as can't remember last time I had sex.

OP posts:
jaseyraex · 08/01/2019 20:56

I'd definitely call 111 or go to out of hours GP.

Imsosorryalan1 · 08/01/2019 21:11

Well if you're not going to take any advice, what was the point in posting? It doesn't matter what anyone else has experienced, it's not normal for you

EC22 · 08/01/2019 21:14

I get random horrific periods every couple of years. Unless you are in so much pain you can’t function or at risk of exanguinating/ feel faint then take painkillers and it should pass.

ChorleyFMcominginyourears · 08/01/2019 21:17

Unfortunately mine are like that every month. My aunt once had one that bad she was rushed to hospital in an ambulance as we thought she had miscarried!! It was the last period she ever had and started the menopause after, the nurse on the ward says it wasn't the first time she had seen it

loubluee · 08/01/2019 21:19

Def ask 111. Its not just for A&E, it’s out of hours GP etc. Let them decide if it’s serious or not. Better to be told you are fine then to leave it and something is wrong!

MrsKCastle · 08/01/2019 21:20

Call 111. This is unusual for you, and you don't know for certain that it is 'just' a period. 111 can arrange an out of hours appointment if you need it (at least they can in my area) as well as recommending A&E if needed.

ChristmasSnow · 08/01/2019 21:20

Your not going to take advice so whats the point?

NO ONE CAN DIAGNOSE YOU!

111 is not a triage for a&e.
Its a NHS help line where you can talk to a nurse / doctor. And they can arrange an out of hours gp appointment or suggest a&e

RayRayBidet · 08/01/2019 21:23

Sounds like every month for me

SparklyMagpie · 08/01/2019 21:23

If you're not going to take advice or take advice saying to call 111, then what is the point?

MiceSqueakCatsMeow · 08/01/2019 21:28

Ring them because it's not normal for you. I had periods like that and I had a small amount of fibroids. They're very common in older ladies and cause these symptoms.

QwertyLou · 08/01/2019 21:36

This is not something anyone on the internet can help you with.

If you don’t feel comfortable calling 111, go see a medical professional in person. I have a doctor and many nurses in my family, they would all say the same.

Nobody on here can tell you anything else.

Nobody should share information about their own bodies. If OP is genuine it may be actually unhelpful to her as our bodies are all different.
