I have no idea what else it could be, but it just doesn't feel right?
I'm in agony with lower back pain, blood gushing, clots and have just vomited for about 5 minutes. Horrendous headache and slept for 3 hours today despite a relatively good nights sleep. I have never had a period like this, but it seems to be the only possible explanation. Can a period be this bad?

There was a poster with a similar issue a while ago, turned out they had some infected tissue and had sepsis. Was told if she’d just assumed it was ok and gone to sleep she’d have bled out and died overnight.

Go to A&E.

Dizzywizz · 08/01/2019 21:44

Yes I remember that @forthoveofscience, please op call 111

Juanmorebeer · 08/01/2019 21:46

I was also about to mention the poster who has sepsis and could have died with the same symptoms so you should get checked. Have you taken your temp?

Lougle · 08/01/2019 21:47

We all use words in different ways, but if you genuinely are in:

-agony

-With heavy bleeding (much heavier than you'd normally expect)

-vomiting

-unusual drowsiness

You need to get a face to face medical assessment, or at the very least, phone 111 for them to talk to you and take you through their triage system.

To do anything else, or have any other advice would be foolish.

CaptainHammer · 08/01/2019 21:48

Call 111. It’s what they are there for.

Magenta46 · 08/01/2019 21:49

Just call 999. Temperature indicates infection. Could be something serious. You will not be wasting anyones time I can assure you.

Nodrama999 · 08/01/2019 21:49

If it is not normal to you then please seek advice.

Although it is normal to some (I am one of them) it is because there is something wrong, just not a medical “emergency”.
Still requires an operation every couple of years mind!

JustDanceAddict · 08/01/2019 21:51

I would also call 111.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 08/01/2019 21:53

You haven't had a period in five months?

Please call 111 and let them make the call here.

Til89 · 08/01/2019 21:54

This is normal for me but it’s not for you so I’d get it checked ASAP. Hope you’re ok.

KitKat1985 · 08/01/2019 21:54

I'm not trying to scare you OP but this could be very serious. Please call 111.

Sparklybanana · 08/01/2019 21:56

Oh come on. Man up. Everyone vomits on their period and gushes blood Hmm.
If you’re worried enough to post on here then it’s clearly not normal so get a dr to check you out. They’ve seen plenty of time wasters before who actually do it on purpose so seeing you with an abnormal period that is clearly worrying you is not going to raise any eyebrows.
Phone 111 and get triaged.

CleverWittyUsername · 08/01/2019 21:56

I had similar a few years ago and it was a cyst rupturing. Horrendous pain, so I do sympathise. You should get checked out

Wotev · 08/01/2019 21:56

I'm not blooming ringing 111! For goodness sake. I'm sure it's just a period and that's why I posted, so that other posters would tell me it's perfectly normal. It's just new for me. I'm just being a big wuss.

OP posts:
sirmione16 · 08/01/2019 21:58

OP i understand what you're saying but if this isn't a normal period for you, then your symptoms are pretty severe.

whatsnewchoochoo · 08/01/2019 21:58

You posted so people could tell you not to do anything? Why bother Confused

Flannelled · 08/01/2019 21:59

But no one can diagnose that it's "just a period" here.

If you want someone to do that (altogether now) call 111.

AvocadoYUK · 08/01/2019 21:59

I had the worst stomachs ache which was worse than just general ibs. (Ending up having ecoli) but I STILL RANG 111 just to give me piece of mind, no one judges and they just help. If it's not normal they will advise to go to the GP , A &e etc. But they will also give you advice about how to feel better in the mean time. I got lots of tips to keep me going until I went to the doctors. RING 111

KitKat1985 · 08/01/2019 22:00

"I'm sure it's just a period".

Periods don't cause gushing bleeding, drowsiness and vomiting. I'm speaking as a nurse here.

madmum5811 · 08/01/2019 22:00

I give up. You have been given good advice wotev.

Jamhandprints · 08/01/2019 22:00

They always ask how often you need to change your pad. If it's more than once an hour they will take you seriously. Hope you feel better soon.

myrtleWilson · 08/01/2019 22:00

I think you should think about it OP- no period for 5 months then bleeding which is outside of your norm (plus all the other issues) is definitely worth getting checked out - if not tonight then with gp ASAP...

Wotev · 08/01/2019 22:01

I'm still well able to walk and talk so not a hospital case. I'm just hoping for people to reassure me that it's just a normal period. Which some of you have.

OP posts:
BifsWif · 08/01/2019 22:02

Infuriating.

Yes it’s just a heavy period, completely normal to be gushing blood, throwing up and sleeping for hours with a temp. Happens every month for me.

Or it could be something fucking serious, like sepsis, like several other posters have already told you.

TimeForANameChange19 · 08/01/2019 22:02

You can do the online 111 checker maybe that would help?
