I have no idea what else it could be, but it just doesn't feel right?
I'm in agony with lower back pain, blood gushing, clots and have just vomited for about 5 minutes. Horrendous headache and slept for 3 hours today despite a relatively good nights sleep. I have never had a period like this, but it seems to be the only possible explanation. Can a period be this bad?

I'm still well able to walk and talk so not a hospital case. I'm just hoping for people to reassure me that it's just a normal period. Which some of you have.

Calling 111 to get some actual medical advice may still a good idea since it seems to be out of the ordinary for your periods.

EduCated · 08/01/2019 22:04

But it’s not a normal period for you.

Rafflesway · 08/01/2019 22:04

Listen to KitKat please, Wotev!

Better to be safe than sorry.

Wotev · 08/01/2019 22:05

Oh ffs, I'll ring 111. FFS.

OP posts:
steppemum · 08/01/2019 22:05

so that other posters would tell me it's perfectly normal. It's just new for me. I'm just being a big wuss.

but other posters are saying IT IS NOT NORMAL FOR YOU, so that means it is not right and when something is abnormal FOR YOU you should seek help.

111 is a helpline. Just that, a helpline. If they are concerned, they will get a doctor to call you back, or send you to an out of hours GP.

Hidillyho · 08/01/2019 22:05

It’s not normal for most. It’s not normal for you but yes OP, you are fine, it’s normal and you shouldn’t ring 111 for this 🙄

carrotflinger · 08/01/2019 22:05

But it isn't normal for you and that is the crucial thing.
It's not about whether that is normal for some random posters on mumsnet.
If you want reassurance that it is a normal period it would be better to ring 111 and ask for advice than to ask posters on mumsnet, most of whom are not experienced medical practitioners.
Ring 111, ask them if it is normal and then come back on here and let us know what they said.

Wotev · 08/01/2019 22:06

I guarantee they're going to tell me to go to a hospital

OP posts:
legolimb · 08/01/2019 22:06

Please get checked out OP.

Magenta46 · 08/01/2019 22:07

FWIW, I had what I thought was horrendous wind. My DP called an ambulance. It was a ruptured Fallopian tube, caused by an ectopic pregnancy. I'd been to hospital , doctors , . I think it could be something serious.

Magenta46 · 08/01/2019 22:08

Go to hospital. They have time wasters aplenty. YOU ARE NOT A TIME WASTER. Just go!

Bumbelinadance · 08/01/2019 22:09

How are you op .?
I would forget the whole grin and bear it female period thing
You know your body and if this isn’t normal ( and it sounds awful ) for you do please seek help
I have found 111 really helpful in the past
Lots of people on here have suggested it

I know everybody is suggesting you go to a& e and most of us , given the wait times dont have families/ jobs that make that ideal
But you wouldn’t have posted if your inner voice wasn’t speaking , I think anyway

Will you do an anonymous woman ( me ) a favour and go please
Chances are you wasting everybody’s time and we will be thrilled to know that ( I shall be )
I went to a& e once after a “ small car accident “
Couldn’t be arsed and incredibly inconvenient with school pick up / work
Turned out my spine was broken in 2 places and thanks to a very cluedup a&e receptionist I was seen to before I strutted around and damaged the spinal nerves

EduCated · 08/01/2019 22:10

And you know what, I hope it is just a bad period. And that it ends up being a bit of a waste of time. Because I hope that’s the worst that comes of this.

Magenta46 · 08/01/2019 22:10

Look it it's a ruptured cyst or whatever , you will be saving the NHS £££££ 's if it's dealt with now. When did you last have sex?

Hidillyho · 08/01/2019 22:11

And you know what, I hope it is just a bad period. And that it ends up being a bit of a waste of time. Because I hope that’s the worst that comes of this

^^ this

pomobrokemypogo · 08/01/2019 22:12

Agree you are infuriating OP! No one can tell you whether this is normal, and you are saying it isn't normal for you, so pick up the phone. And if you don't, make sure you see the doctor tomorrow. Don't be a muppet

DobbyTheHouseElk · 08/01/2019 22:12

They will tell you go get checked if they think it’s required. Seriously it doesn’t sound normal for you which is important. It might be normal for someone else, but it’s not normal for you.

Wotev · 08/01/2019 22:14

Right madams. I've called them and a clinician is going to call me back. It's just a period I'm sure. I'm just a light weight.

OP posts:
PerverseConverse · 08/01/2019 22:16

What a charming attitude you have OP to the people you asked for advice, giving you advice.

Aridane · 08/01/2019 22:16

I guarantee they're going to tell me to go to a hospital

What, even though it's all hunkydory??

BigApple11 · 08/01/2019 22:17

That's a bit rude OP. You asked for advice , reluctantly took it then called everyone madams Confused

carrotflinger · 08/01/2019 22:17

Good I'm glad you called and obviously they don't think you are wasting their time if someone is calling you back.
And calling us "madams" is not necessary. People were just concerned for you.

Jammerbean · 08/01/2019 22:17

Shocking OP! So rude! Ill be watching for an update.

KitKat1985 · 08/01/2019 22:18

I'm pleased you've made the call OP.

It could just be a heavy period and your cycle going out of whack as you approach the menopause, or it could be a sign of a serious infection / sepsis, a ruptured cyst or sign of a tumour. You need a medical professional to answer that for you as your symptoms are not what I would describe as being "normal" for a period.

MrsKCastle · 08/01/2019 22:18

Well done wotev. I know you think we're all nagging - and of course we are Wink - but it really is better to be safe.

I hope the call back doesn't take too long and that you feel better soon
