I have no idea what else it could be, but it just doesn't feel right?
I'm in agony with lower back pain, blood gushing, clots and have just vomited for about 5 minutes. Horrendous headache and slept for 3 hours today despite a relatively good nights sleep. I have never had a period like this, but it seems to be the only possible explanation. Can a period be this bad?

You're either a lightweight or a bloody pillock who'll be glad she called if its something else.

Wotev · 08/01/2019 22:18

It can't be anything other than a period and I'm a big wuss. The pain and the bleeding came on at the same time. And the headache. The vomiting is new to me while having a period. I'm sure it's just an asshole period.

Well done! Calling is brave when you'd rather not :) You need to be sure Star And even if 111 think you can wait until tomorrow, make sure you see a doc about it ASAP.

Magenta46 · 08/01/2019 22:18

Are you absolutely sure you could not be pregnant? The pill isn't 100 % effective. Missed periods at 41 is quite young, though not unheard of.

howdyholdthedoody · 08/01/2019 22:18

Saying you're sure it's just a period and getting annoyed at people giving advice but it's literally in your title that you don't think it's just a period HmmConfused

Aridane · 08/01/2019 22:19

Is the OP always this rude (can't be arsed to AS)?

ThePollutedShadesOfPemberley · 08/01/2019 22:19

They will probably tell you to go to the hospital because can you imagine if they didn't and you died of a ruptured/infected uterus?

I agree with others. You sound quite ill if you are vomiting and drowsy. If you are not, why post?

NoIAmSpartacus · 08/01/2019 22:19

I'm just hoping for people to reassure me that it's just a normal period but it doesn't sound like it is and you were refusing to take peoples advice, despite someone saying that another poster this happened to ended up having sepsis and would've died had they not got it seen to. Your choice.

Right madams. Charming! People are concerned about you and trying to help you. Best of luck to you OP Smile

FloatingthroughSpace · 08/01/2019 22:20

Op is clearly anxious and it's coming across snarky. Don't call her rude.

Op hopefully it's 'just a period', but it would be sensible to get it checked out if it's very unusual for you.

pomobrokemypogo · 08/01/2019 22:21

Some people are just full of bluster when stuff gets alarming, but I'll take a bit of attitude if it gets someone to take care of themselves. Be safe Wotev

Magenta46 · 08/01/2019 22:22

The OP was being jovial and her calling posters Madams was not being derogatory I'm sure. We all have our own peculiar patterns of speech. Good on you for calling 111.

Wotev · 08/01/2019 22:22

Done and dusted now. Someone is to call me back. What do I say? I've got period pains?

OP posts:
Vandree · 08/01/2019 22:22

I find your attitude to the posters urging you to seek medical advice quite curious. No one here can tell you that its all "normal", whats normal for one isn't normal for another and honestly as what you are experiencing isn't YOUR NORMAL, of course they are going to tell you to seek proper medical advice. It could of course be just a nasty period, or it could be a ruptured ovarian cyst or many other things which its best left to the medical professionals to decide. Why you deem to call the worried op's "madams" is beyond me.

I could tell you that my periods are exactly like what you are experiencing (and they are) but I could also tell you it is exactly what I and countless other women have experienced with ruptured ovarian cysts (which I have also experienced) which answer should I give?

Also you are only 41, thats still very young, I have many family members who only started their families at that age and you are only 2 years off me

NewerMoreBoringNameFor2019 · 08/01/2019 22:22

Hope alls okay.

I’ve been on mumsnet for about seven years under lots of different name changes. In that time I’ve seen two threads like this and they both turned out to be sepsis.

I’m glad you’re seeking help.

Queenofthestress · 08/01/2019 22:23

Just what you've said here, vomiting, headache, extreme heavy bleeding and abdominal cramps

MarthaArthur · 08/01/2019 22:24

No op you dont tell them you have period pains you explain all your symptoms and dont sugar coat them or brush them off as nothing. It could be a pre menopausal period or it could be a cyst or fibroid or anything that needs checking on.

Vandree · 08/01/2019 22:24

PS the average age for a woman in the uk to reach menopause is 51, why do you think you are menopausal?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 08/01/2019 22:24

Say you are bleeding heavily, pain more than normal, vomiting and headache. They will ask you questions though.

Don’t be scared.

Queenofthestress · 08/01/2019 22:25

@NewerMoreBoringNameFor2019 so have I! The last lady was very very lucky imo!

pomobrokemypogo · 08/01/2019 22:25

Tell them the whole truth. Write down what time things happened. Is it your expected date? Don't down play it. Be accurate. Scientific minded not brave and stiff upper lip. Say it is not usual for you.

Magenta46 · 08/01/2019 22:25

Tell them everything. Don't underplay your symptoms. You need to go to hospital, it really needs to be checked out asap,

KitKat1985 · 08/01/2019 22:25

"Done and dusted now. Someone is to call me back. What do I say? I've got period pains?"

Say basically exactly what you've said in your opening post. That you have severe pain which started at the same time as heavy vaginal bleeding / clots, and that you have been drowsy and being sick.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 08/01/2019 22:26

Tell them the truth, don’t try and brave it out. You sound like me, I’m full of bluster when I’m scared especially in medical situations.

ohwownosnow · 08/01/2019 22:28

Go to A&E

DobbyTheHouseElk · 08/01/2019 22:28

It’s vaginal bleeding which could be a period. Or it could be vaginal bleeding for another reason.
