I have no idea what else it could be, but it just doesn't feel right?
I'm in agony with lower back pain, blood gushing, clots and have just vomited for about 5 minutes. Horrendous headache and slept for 3 hours today despite a relatively good nights sleep. I have never had a period like this, but it seems to be the only possible explanation. Can a period be this bad?

OP posts:
VforVienetta · 08/01/2019 22:49

When you say you can’t remember the last time you had sex, and last period was >5 months ago, any chance it was 5-7 months ago? Plenty of women have ‘periods’ in early pregnancy from implantation bleeds etc., so if that’s possible you should let 111 know.

They may well send you to hospital, but if it turns out to be nothing and a shitty night spent in a waiting room, that’s surely better than sepsis/something equally horrendous?

Your symptoms sound worrying to me.

MrsKCastle · 08/01/2019 22:50

I think you should probably keep yourself awake Wotev if you can't you should maybe call an ambulance.

This. Please. At the very least, call 111 back again and say that you are struggling to stay awake. Is anyone at home with you?

U2HasTheEdge · 08/01/2019 22:51

Do you usually take a shitty attitude towards people who are being nice and trying to help you, OP?

OP is coming across to me as she is anxious and obviously feeling physically shit too. I don't think she is being rude for the sake of it. Give her a break.

U2HasTheEdge · 08/01/2019 22:52

Just read that you have to sleep again. You do need to call back if you are struggling to stay awake. Or even 999.

jessstan2 · 08/01/2019 22:53

I had the odd 'rogue' period (I've stopped altogether now), which I remember quite clearly being very like what you describe. Very unpleasant indeed but mostly my periods were OK.

Could you possibly be having an early miscarriage?

TraineeCrone · 08/01/2019 22:54

It's nearly 11,a lot if people feel sleepy.I do!

SaturdayNext · 08/01/2019 22:54

I was hoping for everyone to tell me that they suffer similarly every month and I'm being a big baby.

Well, I can't tell you this because it wouldn't be true. I've never known "just a period" which involved gushing blood, clots and vomiting.

Welltroddenpath · 08/01/2019 22:55

Re the still walking and talking I don’t know if that’s a good enough sign your fine. I know it’s different but I walked into maternity having contractions and was 8cm dilated in very minimal pain. The midwife was very shocked and asked if wanted a wheelchair to the labour suite, I didn’t. But I’m definitely not hard as nails. I just didn’t now a small human was literally about to fall out of me 😂

caringcarer · 08/01/2019 22:59

Sorry OP this sounds like peri menopause to me. I had similar and it went on most months for about two and a half years. I had to go to GP and got some transanemic acid which helped but did not stop it much. I used to wake up in bed covered in blood and it was like a scene form a murder. After menopause no more bleeding, relief. It was so bad for me I would dread going to work like it and on a few occasions I had to stay home in bed changing super plus tampons every 15-20 mins and I had extra large pads too. I used to feel so sick and exhausted. I think it is just unlucky if you have a really bad peri menopause. Go to GP tomorrow.

I am, in a way. I have a condition which, when experiencing an "episode" leads me to become completely emotionally incontinent, not argumentative or ungracious, but floods of tears, don't care who sees it, etc. Very unlike me. This too may be quite unlike OP - I don't know, since I'm not familiar with her posts.

Either way, fingers crossed she does call 111.

MyOtherProfile · 08/01/2019 23:01

I hope you're still awake and the clinician calls you back soon.

steppemum · 08/01/2019 23:02

Butchy - she has called 111, she is waiting for a callback

BlancheM · 08/01/2019 23:02

Sounds awful Thanks I hope you're feeling better soon. Don't downplay your symptoms out of embarrassment and if you do recover overnight, still make a GP appointment as the no bleeding for 5 months is significant in one way or another.

Butchyrestingface · 08/01/2019 23:03

Great. Smile

U2HasTheEdge · 08/01/2019 23:04

It's nearly 11,a lot if people feel sleepy.I do!

Way to miss the point!

U2HasTheEdge · 08/01/2019 23:07

Sorry Butchy. I read your post wrong.

Butchyrestingface · 08/01/2019 23:08

Sorry Butchy. I read your post wrong.

No, it's okay, I probably took the wrong tone. You were right. There would have been a nicer way of putting it. Sorry, OP.

MustShowDH · 08/01/2019 23:08

I don't think the OP has been rude, it's just a writing style.

OP, I get hormonal migraines which give me horrendous headaches and nausea when I come on, but as others have said, its not normal for YOU and should be looked at.

If nothing else, please go to your GP or walk in centre in the morning.

Hezz · 08/01/2019 23:11

You're probably right but it would be incredibly irresponsible for someone on here to tell you it's normal.

carrotflinger · 08/01/2019 23:16

I'm worrying about the OP now - she hasn't been on for a while. I hope they've called her back.

OP please go to the GP in the morning to get this checked out if you haven't gone to A&E or out of hours.

IroningMan · 08/01/2019 23:16

There are stories of people whose periods are like this and others when these symptoms meant burst cysts or sepsis.

If it isn't normal for you it needs attention, please take the advice of NHS direct. Make sure your u get medical help.

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay · 08/01/2019 23:19

You think is only a period?

How about a cervical clot that almost killed one mumsnetter?

How about uterine cancer?

How about cervical cancer?

Don't be so ridiculous. You know it's not quite right which is why you posted on here.

GobblersKnob · 08/01/2019 23:21

I'm worried too. The last couple of posters with similar symptoms were also pretty convinced it was nothing.

Hopefully it is nothing.

Years and years ago we tried to get MN Towers to trace someone's IP in similar circumstances, but I can't remember the outcome. And if it is just a heavy period that's insanely intrusive. But still concerned.

jessstan2 · 09/01/2019 01:02

OP, you didn't come over as a wuss or light weight at all. The symptoms you described were highly unusual for you and it was quite natural for you to worry.

Flowers hope you feel better later today, after a good sleep.

Saltandsauce · 09/01/2019 01:32

Hope they’ve rung you back and you’re ok op, I don’t think u came across bitchy, just a bit scared 😟
Flowers xx
