I really don't know wasn't taught at all how to keep a house.

How often should I be doing these things?

Hoover everyday sometimes twice, steam mop tiled areas everyday , tea towels go in the wash each day, hand towels every other day and bath sheets twice a week.

Didsomeonesaybunny · 08/01/2019 23:10

Hoover - twice a week
Mop wood floors - twice a week
Towels - every other day

Lisabel · 08/01/2019 23:15

Hoover- every few days
Mop- every couple/few weeks
Towels- bath towels- every other day. Kitchen towels- after half a day!

Dragon3 · 08/01/2019 23:17

a) Fairly infrequently. Shoes off house really cuts down on the dirt.
b)Teatowels, new one every day, wash them all once a week. Normal towels one each, washed every week.
c) Every day, somewhere, at least once

SarfE4sticated · 08/01/2019 23:18

Once a week for all of them. There's only 3 of us, out all day at work/school live in a city, so no mud. Wooden floors living room kitchen, carpet in bedrooms.

TraineeCrone · 08/01/2019 23:22

Floors cleaned when they need it for mopping and hoovering.
Tea towels used for a couple of days max or less, bath towels and hand towels-individauks decide when they are dirty and I collect from wash basket and wash when I have a full load.

yikesanotherbooboo · 08/01/2019 23:25

Floor washed 2-3 times a week
Towels weekly
Vacuum downstairs most days , upstairs one a week

Yearofthemum · 08/01/2019 23:32

In our house, a damn sight more often since one of the teens got those cheap fluffy socks where the fluff sheds everywhere. Although I'm beginning to get used to it.

BuggersMuddle · 08/01/2019 23:32

Bath towels - once a week on the basis of a shower a day, no-one really dirty & hung up properly to dry. More often if needed.

Tea towels - I save these up for a load but usually a tea towel is only out for 1-2 days max and we have a dishwasher.

Hoover - couple of times a week in living areas (light hoover, not pulling out all the furniture or anything!) as needed in other rooms, but just us and the moggy with mostly hard floors

Wash floors - at least weekly for bathrooms. Kitchen we tend to mop up as we go. Other floors as needed depending on traffic.

TheCraicDealer · 08/01/2019 23:37

I misread the thread title as asking how often I wash my hoover and thought I'd just discovered another cleaning task I don't do 🤷🏼‍♀️

Biffsboys · 08/01/2019 23:47

Mop floors infrequently , hoover downstairs daily. Towels after every use ( I know I know 🙈)

PinaColada1 · 08/01/2019 23:48

Towels = once a week
Hoover = once a week
Mop floor = once a month

And I have a clean and very tidy house!

PinaColada1 · 08/01/2019 23:48

Tea towels every 2 days.

Beeziekn33ze · 08/01/2019 23:49

OP Have a look at flylady.com.
It's a very encouraging US website which you can take at your own speed.
I especially like 'you can do anything for 15 minutes'!!

Onecabbage · 08/01/2019 23:50

I think a lot depends on how many people live in the home. One adult and one tidy teenager will require less than two adults a tenn and two toddlers .

My advice would be, do it before it looks like it needs doing.

adriennewillfly · 08/01/2019 23:56

Cleaner gives the whole house a quick clean once a week. Usually give the downstairs carpet a quick vacuum with a Dyson cordless every day we're in (so 3 or 4 days a week - due to crumbs and bits of food from our toddler). Bath towels get changed every 2 weeks (would be every week if we remembered). Any hardwood/tiled floors get mopped once a week by the cleaner.

Bubba1234 · 09/01/2019 00:01

It all depends on the house I suppose.
My house gets a quick hoover either everyday or every 2nd day.
Ideally should wash the floors every second day. No biggie if it ends up being once some weeks.
Towels for showering I use a good 4 times.
Hand towel in kitchen once a week.
All depends on different variables though

Doubletrouble99 · 09/01/2019 00:08

Cleaner comes once a week so that's when the floors are done. Do the towels about once a week too.

OkPedro · 09/01/2019 00:25

op You should start a thread about how much you don't like Mrs Hinch.

This thread suggests you wanted opinions on cleaning routines

pizzacrisps · 09/01/2019 09:51

@OkPedro Ok Pedro Hmm

Hoover every day, sometimes twice a day, we have a hairy dog who seems to moult constantly.
Wash floors twice a week with the steamer.
Wash tea towels after each use.
Wash hand towels daily.
Same with bath towels Sad I've always done it.

House is fairly tidy, I have to do it everyday otherwise it descends into chaos!

umberellaonesie · 09/01/2019 10:46

Hoover daily main areas (so downstairs) - we have wooden floors and 2 dogs. Hoover bedrooms once a week, and hall stairs once a week.
Mop kitchen twice a week, living room and bathroom once a week.
Wash towels weekly. Everyone has their own set of towels in their own colour. Bath sheet, swimming/sport towel and hair towel. Bathroom hand towel gets changed every 3 days roughly cos it gets minging.

showmewhatyougot · 09/01/2019 11:07

When it needs doing, towels changed when dirty or smelly.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 09/01/2019 11:31

Floor weekly but I do floor wipes which is super bad for the environment
Hoover a lot more
Towels ideally weekly Grin

katekat383 · 09/01/2019 11:40

I’m surprised that some people only change their towels weekly.
