I really don't know wasn't taught at all how to keep a house.

How often should I be doing these things?

  • Hoover downstairs every day, upstairs once a week
  • wash towels every couple of days
  • wash floors? Bathroom floor gets washed with disinfectant wipes fairly frequently (a couple of times a week). The rest is mainly spot cleaned.
Drogosnextwife · 08/01/2019 19:34

I Hoover every day because I have to (childminder, 2 ds and a messy dp with psoriasis). Towels I'll use twice then the go in the basket to be Sasha to get her at 60°, I do this when there are none left. I don't wash the floors anywhere near as much as I should Blush

sue51 · 08/01/2019 19:34

Wash kitchen floor daily, hoover downstairs daily, stairs every other day and bedrooms weekly. Towels every other day.

Igottastartthinkingbee · 08/01/2019 19:42

I wash bath towels as and when, a few uses each. Hand towels and tea towels more regularly.

Hoovering a few times a week but upstairs only once a fortnight month and as for moping the floor (just small kitchen and bathroom), well that happens nothing like as often as some of the folks on here! As necessary I guess?

SauvignonMum · 08/01/2019 19:45

I sweep the floors twice a day, mop them once a week. They probably should be mopped twice a week.

I Hoover upstairs once a week.

Usually Wash towels after 2 showers or baths

CustardCreamLover · 08/01/2019 19:50

I do all three at least once a week. I often Hoover more than once a week downstairs because we have tiles and a cat and you can see everything and my husband likes to walk around with outdoor shoes on despite me shouting at him 🙄.

I think it just depends on a) how messy your house gets and b) how much you care about your house being spotless!

Mamabear12 · 08/01/2019 19:53

Before kids we had a cleaner once a week to hoover and mop, change bedding. Now we have cleaner come 3 times a week to hoover and mop. Change sheets once a week. I change the towels once a week (although my husband thinks a family of four should use one towel per month lol).

tootiredtospeak · 08/01/2019 19:59

I read that wrong and was thinking I was doing something wrong as I never wash my hoover 😂😊

MsMamaNature · 08/01/2019 19:59

Tiled floor in kitchen and hallway swept daily, mopped weekly.
Bathroom floors mopped weekly.
Carpet vacuumed weekly - I have teenagers so long past the squished up food on the floor stage. They are now relatively civilised.
Bath sheets washed after each use - the thought of drying myself with a towel covered in dry skin cells rubbed off after my last shower gives me the heebie jeebies.

Hand towels washed every other day.

CoconutGal · 08/01/2019 20:02

Depending on work. I give the bog a bleach daily when I'm getting ready for work. I hoover every other day (cat plus sock fluff plus child snacking), I mop once a week but I only need to mop the bathroom & kitchen, both are small areas so don't take long to clean. If you get into a habit of doing a little each day you find it's kinda easy to keep on top of.

Pissflapflip · 08/01/2019 20:05

Vacuum daily, mop weekly, towels as needed

puzzledlady · 08/01/2019 20:05

Towels - every two uses
Floors - every week
Vacuum - daily as i have young children and dogs who shed

MummyNessi · 08/01/2019 20:12

I hover and mop the floors once a week. ( no carpet) towels I change ones a week, hand towels in toilet possible more often. I sweep floor in kitchen especially every day probably as there is food on the floor most days.

adviceonthepox · 08/01/2019 20:15

I hoover every other day downstairs and weekly upstairs, mop kitchen floor twice a week and bathroom floor 3/4 times a week towels are put to wash after each use except for hand towels that I change daily. Bedding washed weekly, sometimes more in the summer. I am a SAHM though with 4 kids when I only had 2 kids and worked full time everything was done once a week.

OkToday · 08/01/2019 20:15

I think I might have a cleaning issue compared to some.
I Hoover whole house every morning and will re Hoover the kitchen and dinning room after lunch and dinner if necessary. I mop the whole of the downstairs as it is hard wood every morning after hoovering with a spray mop and mop the 3 bathroom floors also. I steam clean all hard floor on mondays instead of the spray mop tho. I clean all bathrooms and toilets daily and wash all towel daily, average 3 loads of washing a day. We are family of 5, I know it is excessive but doesn't take long.

OkToday · 08/01/2019 20:16

Bedding changed weekly in the winter and twice a week April-October

Girlicorne · 08/01/2019 20:18

Once a week for all three. We are out all day monday to friday and kids are 9 and 11 so a bit tidier now! When they were toddlers I hoovered daily!

champagneplanet · 08/01/2019 20:23

I mop once a week (although I brush out almost daily), do towels 1-2 times a week and hoover 1-2 times a week.

Depends completely on size of house, traffic coming in and out, how many people live there, what they do for a job (for showers etc), whether you have pets. There is no normal.

Rumblingtum · 08/01/2019 20:36

Mrs Hinch's House is all one colour. It was actually hurting my eyes having a look. Never been so pleased to see a photo of green grass.

pizzacrisps · 08/01/2019 21:16

I would hate to live there. She's probably a psychopath

OP posts:
kaytee87 · 08/01/2019 21:20

It depends on how many people that live there and how many pets etc but for us; the floors are washed weekly (occasionally twice a week), hoovering again weekly or twice a week, towels are hot washed weekly, hand towels twice a week and fresh tea towel daily.

FloofyDoof · 08/01/2019 21:26

Mop floors a couple of times a week (only kitchen and bathroom, only takes 5 minutes)

Towels and bedding weekly.

Hoover, hallway and sitting room daily, bedrooms a couple of times a week, because we have a cat and whole place is carpeted. Takes no time with my shark though.

tinysnickersaremyfavourite · 08/01/2019 21:35

youvegottobekidding · 08/01/2019 22:01

Hoover about twice a day, upstairs about 3 times a week. Use floor wipes about once every 2 weeks. Towels get washed usually every 2-3 days.

SpringIntoSpring · 08/01/2019 22:50

a) wash the floors When they're sticky or something messy gets dropped on them
b) wash the towels Hand / tea towels: when they're damp and not drying properly, so probably every other day. Bath towels: after a couple of weeks' use.
c) hoover Every day in the dining room, a couple of times a week in the living room and every few weeks upstairs.
