^That.
It's all cliques and people replying to a post and then being ignored.

OP posts:
ErrolTheDragon · 06/01/2019 16:32

Cliquey is one thing mn is not I believe. I recognise a handful of names and participate in a couple of long running thread series that I know more names in. Other than that I barely register any names and never noticed a clique.

Says the poster whose name has generated an acronym on a particular set of long-running threads.Grin but its meaning is regularly explained to newbies on that thread - so it's not a clique. Archers it's more like a 'club' where new members are always welcome but occasionally there may be in-jokes etc - I think there are a few threads like that, but they're good, inclusive not exclusive.

PavlovianLunge · 06/01/2019 16:36

No worries, @MsLucyLastic, I read it as you intended and hope my post didn’t come across as being critical of you.

Coolhwip · 06/01/2019 16:38

@MsLucyLastic

You've kind of proved my point, you've said pretty much what I said upthread but didn't acknowledge my post!

It's all good, I just what wanted to say it does happen! Smile

MsLucyLastic · 06/01/2019 16:40

Not at all @PavlovianLunge Brew

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 06/01/2019 16:40

Online Some people like groups, the generally shared purpose & views so they gravitate to groups and exhibit group behaviour
Habitually Exhibiting praise for a poster is a group behaviour, protective mechanism. The praise is to elicit a bond or signal I’m with you
Conversely, others online like to do their own thing and eschew being in a group

And yes some frequent posters attract their fans, groupies who will praise them and their posts. This in itself isn’t necessarily problematic. It depends on how the frequent flyer reacts to their fans

MsLucyLastic · 06/01/2019 16:41

@Coolhwip - oh God, I am so sorry. I didn't read all the posts before posting. I am really, really sorry. You worded it much better too! BlushFlowers

GinIsIn · 06/01/2019 16:47

I made quiche with pigs in blankets in it the other day.

I think people tend to notice 2 kinds of posters - the ones they absolutely disagree with, and the ones they almost always agree with. I always notice @Bluntness100 and @FrancisCrawford for example, because they tend to have very similar views to mine.

It’s not anything personal or a concious decision if you don’t get replies.

BitOutOfPractice · 06/01/2019 16:52

Well yes there is that Errol Blush

That's one of the long running threads I meant where you do get to recognise names but it doesn't feel like a clique I don't think.

I am SO behind on TA. I hate it when work is crazy busy and I miss the lunchtime airing Sad

ladymalfoy · 06/01/2019 16:54

Come the fuck in ,or fuck the fuck off.

Coolhwip · 06/01/2019 16:58

Please don't be sorry, ordinarily I would never say it but it seemed fitting due to the subject of the thread! grin] Just shows it happens easily. Your wording was much better Brew Smile

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 06/01/2019 16:59

Come the fuck in ,or fuck the fuck off.
Ahh there is always an opportunity to quote Malcom tucker

birdsdestiny · 06/01/2019 17:00

Oh I thought I was in my first ever clique on TA thread, now you bastards have ruined it for me. Not to be Sad

chemenger · 06/01/2019 17:02

Fenella Quiche from pigs in blankets is genius! I may be missing the point (everyone will ignore me anyway).

Cu71 · 06/01/2019 17:09

Our eldest is sitting her GCSE's this year and is very stressed out. She's constantly shouting at me and says if she fails it is all my fault. She refuses all help at school, because she doesn't need it she says, but it's obvious she is paralysed by the fear of failure. She just told me there's no point even revising for her first exam next week, because she knows nothing and will fail anyway...I'm at my wits end, any suggestions?

GinIsIn · 06/01/2019 17:11

@chemenger I might have had a lot of Gin when I did the Christmas food order, and ordered 16 packs instead of 6 - we’ve been eating pigs in blanket EVERYTHING for 2 weeks now!!

ErrolTheDragon · 06/01/2019 17:12

I am SO behind on TA.

I got so far behind I missed a few (no longer available!) but I've caught up now.

Oh I thought I was in my first ever clique on TA thread, now you bastards have ruined it for me.

Grin there's probably quite a few people going 'huh?'Confused, will that do?

Butchyrestingface · 06/01/2019 17:18

Asking for a friend. Flowers Flowers Flowers

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 06/01/2019 17:20

Mumsnet is so fetch

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 06/01/2019 17:21

Fetch ain’t never going to happen

Bluntness100 · 06/01/2019 17:31

Only mnhq has the list, Becayse there are sixteen million of us.🤣

Fenella, agree, I notice those who I agree or disagree with, some folks I recognise the posting style, past that I don't look at names.

Cu, is that a test to see if you're ignored ? 🤣

BitOutOfPractice · 06/01/2019 17:31

I'm sending you your very own BOOP @birdsdestiny Wink

CrockOfTheNorth · 06/01/2019 17:32

On the subject of being ignored (I'm a bit behind here) it must be awful to be Annie who posts an idea of genius, which
Betty then quotes in bold
adding this^
then everyone believes it was Betty's idea, OP thanks Betty profusely and everyone ignores Annie who wishes she was dead .

FlibbertyGiblets · 06/01/2019 17:36

Cu71 your post here will be lost amongst the chatter. Do repost in Education and the helpful bods there will reply in depth I'm sure.

Right the rest of you - is just words on a screen, bumping gums etc. Arf.

Greensleeves · 06/01/2019 17:36

it used to be cliquey, back when it was a fraction of the size it is now Confused

I've been here on and off since 2005 and I find it much more impersonal and egalitarian than it used to be.

What cliques are you noticing now, op?

I'm not in any of them Shock Sad

chemenger · 06/01/2019 17:37

Just to say I am on the thread that uses BOOP and I didn’t know where it came from. I thought I was in that clique...
