Twitter hosts paedophiles- AIBU to think this should change?

A growing number of MAP (minor attracted people) accounts are forming a network on Twitter. There is a push to normalise and legitimise being sexually attracted to children. The “guide” I have linked is chilling, as are the accounts with MAP tags - they often have AOA in their bio...their “age of attraction”. So AOA 6mnths-4 years is a sexual attraction to children of that age.

Twitter is a huge business, with enormous power - they could, if they chose, take a stand against this.

It’s fascinating that you are more interested in your perception that I am - what? A bigot? Transphobic? Homophobic? I’m not sure exactly what you’re calling me - than Twitter hosting a network of child abusers.

I am non of those things. But report my posts if you think I am.

This has happened before

PIE in the 70s/80s. Latched onto the growing gay rights movement. At the time with all the push to do the right thing for gay people (men at the fore really) they presented themselves as another group with oppressed sexuality. They claimed not to abuse children( have been subsequent convictions I believe).

This looks very similar. And it wasn't the right who let them in and didn't ask the right questions / were swept up in the moment > it was the left.

The latching on to LGBT has definitely happened before - and caused a lot of damage.

The environment Twitter provides - especially at the moment - allows it to grow at super speed.

I don't know. But it's really quite shocking to see two posters way more concerned with how this might be making transactivists consider their demands, than actual fucking paedophiles openly saying what kind of babies they fancy on Twitter.

This time round, they're better connected and can throw the 'phobic' and 'you're just a bigot' into the mix. People who express certain views can find their jobs at risk if they are suspected of wrongthink. There are far more gaps for them to slip through now.

It can’t be an especially joyous state of mind . And I suppose it’s only inevitable they will find their people so they feel less alien

However it’s when they act on their desires that the issue starts

Looking at it disappassionately it’s a condition with no cure

The link wasn’t especially concerninf as it didn’t seem to advocate acting on their desires ? Maybe I missed it

Since the thread's about paedophiles' efforts to latch onto trans rights rather than the trans community themselves, it's a bit surprising to see the usual cries of transphobia on this one

Maybe I've got this all wrong, but rather than objecting to the issue being named, shouldn't this be something where everyone can stand together to keep paedophiles from exerting influence?

Here is @Kinesis on Twitter today echoing some of the safeguarding concerns expressed here. Kinesis is a trans woman

From the look of it, Twitter is comfortable with paedophiles chatting.... comfortable with all manner of misogyny.
But saying women don't have penises? That's well out of order.

That's not about linking trans and paedophiles, it's about Twitter being anti-women.

I saw these when they just began. They migrated from tumblr to Twitter after being banned.

Some of the things they do blantantly put on their accounts makes me shudder. I admit I saw quite a few who were trans but I also saw many female, male and young people (13/14) who claimed to be attracted to 3 year olds. I literally couldn’t wrap my head around it.

I guarantee you have nothing useful to add about this new phenomena sweeping Twitter. Other than some generic oh yeah, I guess it's bad if someone is a paedophile.

I have reported numerous of these paedophile accounts on Twitter and nothing is done.

Twitter is run by a bunch of men who couldn't care less about women or girls.

Men talking about your sexual attraction to children - Twitter ignored.

Talk about women being adult human females, safe spaces for women or a penis not being a lady dick - you get banned.

I'd suggest that the TRAs and MRAs on this thread ask themselves if they really, really, want blatant paedophiles tagging on to their TRA and MRA rhetoric. Really?
