To think Johnnie (Boden) is a Brexiteer?

And to be rather upset about it if he is? The new collection features a lot of union jacks and the words "forget staying in" next to a pic of a mac with a wild union flag lining in the catalogue. And have you see the girls union flag dress? Feel I am in receipt of propaganda and where will I shop now?!?!

(Blair as in "Cool Britannia" but also with many negative connotations. Yes I know he isn't a Kipper!)

Amanduh · 04/01/2019 09:36

Why can’t you like the union flag or be proud of the union flag?
And be a remainer?
What’s the UK flag got to do with Brexit?
You are absolutely ridiculous. It’s our flag?!

Kittykatmacbill · 04/01/2019 09:36

Thanks for the money saving tip! Anyone know where I can get warm leggings for small girls from?

arethereanyleftatall · 04/01/2019 09:37

www.capitalandconflict.com/brexit/ten-reasons-to-leave-eu/

There you go, I've helped you out. 1 second on google, one of the umpteen articles.

Amanduh · 04/01/2019 09:38

(Oh and he voted remain)

Madmarchpear · 04/01/2019 09:40

The "forget staying in" slogan next to the mac makes it pretty clear it is related to Brexit. Brexit aside it's an awful collection. The ladies dress is like fancy dress, you'd just need a plastic shield and helmet and you could pass as Britannia.

PinkCalluna · 04/01/2019 09:43

No one will need to boycott though dresses for political l reasons.

They just won’t buy them because they are ugly.

WhiteDust · 04/01/2019 09:43

(Oh and he voted remain)
How do you know?

surferjet · 04/01/2019 09:45

Good for him.
I’ll buy more from Boden now!

LaurieFairyCake · 04/01/2019 09:55

I love clothes with the union flag on. Huge remainer though.

twattymctwatterson · 04/01/2019 09:55

Never been a fan of draping yourself in the flag anyway. TBH where I live it's an indicator of a specific set of views and beliefs that aren't particularly positive.

Member · 04/01/2019 09:57

He claimed he voted remain in a letter to the Financial Times chastising their editorial position on Brexit. In the letter, he accused the FT of being doom mongering and “talking down” the economy & implored them to get over the referendum result even though it had gone against how they’d voted as he had done.

nothingwittyhere · 04/01/2019 10:25

Covering all the bases with the FT wasn't he. I've not been buying Boden because I've realised their tops are sized for much shorter people, but now I have a reason not to buy the rest either. As is my right.

BarbaraofSevillle · 04/01/2019 10:30

Wouldn't be surprised if he was TBH. He's a posh small business man isn't he? One of the classic Brexiteer types.

planespotting · 04/01/2019 11:05

To boycott someone based on your own ignorance is embarrassing
Not really, I just don't want another wealthy Brexiteer with accounts in financial paradises to take my tax paying money
Simples

TeenageAngst1 · 04/01/2019 11:10

Interesting that Boden has decided to call this the "Charlotte" dress. Perhaps a nod to our originated from Germany Royal Family?

To think Johnnie (Boden) is a Brexiteer?

PinkCalluna · 04/01/2019 12:08

here are many who voted leave for perfectly valid reasons

I’m sure that everyone thinks their own opinions are valid *. It doesn’t mean I have to agree that they are valid.

To boycott someone based on your own ignorance is embarrassing

Ignorance of what?

Embarrassing how?

I’m a Boden customer but they aren’t entitled to my custom.

I can choose to buy or not buy their products for any reason at all,

Nothing embarrassing about personal choice as a consumer.

That’s why companies are generally very careful about their public relations.

Quietrebel · 04/01/2019 13:39

I'm fine with the union flag dress (after all no one complained about the Spice Girls back in the 90s) but not fine with politicizing it through brexit references.

MacarenaFerreiro · 04/01/2019 13:42

Pity my DD is too big for the union flag dress.

It would send the frothing nationalists up here into a total frenzy.

Quietrebel · 04/01/2019 13:45

In fact, the more I think about it the more it annoys me that a national symbol of unity is being exclusively claimed by brexiteers, or for remainers to assume that it is a pro brexit symbol. We shouldn't let the very symbol of the Union become divisive.

ElonMask · 04/01/2019 13:48

Unless I'm missing something, you think that clothing with a flag should be banned ? Any country's flag ? Or just the Union flag 'cause we're rotters ?

MacarenaFerreiro · 04/01/2019 13:49

it annoys me that a national symbol of unity is being exclusively claimed by brexiteers

Totally agree. Just like the Scottish Saltire has been hijacked by the SNP.

TSSDNCOP · 04/01/2019 13:52

That’s silly because it really isn’t. I am a remainer and the flag is the flag regardless of Brexit.

BunnyCake · 04/01/2019 13:54

I'd no more wear that stuff than I'd have an England flag draped in my front window. Tacky!

ElonMask · 04/01/2019 13:55

MacarenaFerreiro

Totally agree. What's fascinating to me is how the SNP would I imagine, regard the Union flag as an example of bad and ugly nationalism....of which Brexit is the ultimate expression. Not to be confused with their flag waving nationalism which is all cuddly and inclusive apparently. The amazing thing is there are so many English people who seem to agree with them.
