Is anyone looking forward to it? Did anyone who vote leave happy they voted it? Or regretful?

OP posts:
SarahAndQuack · 03/01/2019 09:09

Yes, I'm delightedly looking forward to the economy crashing, why do you ask?

LegoPiecesEverywhere · 03/01/2019 09:14

What are you looking forward to newmun?

Kpo58 · 03/01/2019 09:14

I'm really looking forwards to our politicians who are poor at negotiation getting us trade "deals" with the rest of the world. Just because they couldn't stand up to the EU doesn't mean that they won't be walked all over by other countries right?

But what will we do now we can't blame the EU for not letting us do things that we could but didn't bother to do? Who can we blame now?

AGHHHH · 03/01/2019 09:14

There is nothing to look forward to. Confused

TheyBuiltThePyramids · 03/01/2019 09:15

It's a complete fecking disaster is what it is. I'd love to hear what people are looking forward to though.

SoyDora · 03/01/2019 09:17

Following so I can see what people may possibly be looking forward to!

Strugglingtodomybest · 03/01/2019 09:17

What is there to look forward to? It's going to be bad apparently. It's just a question of how bad.

GCAcademic · 03/01/2019 09:19

Yes, like Liam Fox, I am looking forward to US agricultural empires and healthcare firms gutting our farming industry, environmental standards and NHS. That is the kind of "freedom to make our own deals" that we will be getting.

Lweji · 03/01/2019 09:19

Are you Putin?

InspectorIkmen · 03/01/2019 09:19

Well at least this isn't a GF thread to start the day Hmm

Isn't there a specific topic for all matters Brexit?

maxthemartian · 03/01/2019 09:19

Oh god yes so excited for my new blue passport!

Kolo · 03/01/2019 09:19

I’m looking forward to finding out which Tory MPs friend/family owns that ferry company that owns no actual ferries. Or has ever traded before. The one that the gvt have just given millions to as part of no deal preparations.

Patroclus · 03/01/2019 09:19

I thought we had all just quietly pretended to ourselves it wasnt happening after xmas?

InspectorIkmen · 03/01/2019 09:20

I'd love to hear what people are looking forward to though

Mostly they say dumb shit like 'Getting our Sovereignty back'. I find it helps to ask them what they're going to do with it once they get it back. Never yet had an answer.

Camomila · 03/01/2019 09:20

Not at all.

I’m really anxious about the whole thing - I keep thinking they are going to cock up the settled status thing and people (me! SAHM/student) are going to get threatened with deportation like in the Windrush scandal.

Plus the money and time involved in switching from ID cards to passports. We’re thinking it might be quicker
to get an easyJet flight to Italy rather than wait for there to be an appointment free at the Italian consulate.

And before anyone says I chose to immigrate, I was 5 years old when I came here.

whatswithtodaytoday · 03/01/2019 09:20

Posting so I can see what people are looking forward to.

I'm really excited to be having a baby a month before the country goes to complete shit. It's going to be great. Adequate food and worries about stock of medicines, such fun.

Childrenofthesun · 03/01/2019 09:20

The only people who are looking forward to it are those who don't understand the consequences. As for those who say "nobody knows what will happen, it could all be fine" - I bet they wouldn't take such a risk with their own finances, so how is it ok to risk the economy of your entire country?

We will be poorer and less influential as the result of any Brexit. I don't understand what there is to look forward to.

Childrenofthesun · 03/01/2019 09:28

Kolo I reckon the government decided it would look bad for them if they only awarded the extra contracts to European-owned ferry operators (the other contracts have gone to Danish-owned DFDS and French-owned Brittany Ferries). Of course there isn't a British-owned ferry operator covering the necessary routes so they awarded the contract to a start-up with no boats. Ironically of course that has garnered the government far more negative publicity than just giving the contracts to the existing ferry operators!

UserMe18 · 03/01/2019 09:33

The only thing I'm looking forward to is saying "I told you so" to people like you. And that old "you voted for this" "only yourself to blame" etc etc, I've got them all lined up ready to be dished out indefinitely. Well tbh I've already started.

Andromeida59 · 03/01/2019 09:33

I'm still waiting to hear why it's going to be a good thing. So if anyone can tell me that'd be great.

CardsforKittens · 03/01/2019 09:34

I'm sure I must have too much money; I'm looking forward to paying more for everything. Also looking forward to the oppprtunity to provide support to my many colleagues who are EU citizens as they struggle with immigration issues. And of course there's the question of the availability of the medication I need to take every day to stay alive: I'm sure insecurity about that will make me more resilient. Yippee.

StoorieHoose · 03/01/2019 09:39

mmmm chlorinated chicken, yeah blue passports, woohooo employment rights cut to the bone

PerryPerryThePlatypus · 03/01/2019 09:39

I'm very much looking forward to moving out of the country in February. Taking my kids away from their school, friends, clubs. I moved here and have worked here and paid tax here consistently for 7 years. I live in a high Leave vote area. My family can no longer take the blatent racism Brexit has endorsed. To us, to the Eastern European community, to anyone not British.

Dimsumlosesum · 03/01/2019 09:41

They placed a decision in the hands of ignorant people who didn't and never had full scope of what being in the EU means. Financially, politically, etc. What a shit show.
