To have a baby because I hate work?

It’s a slightly misleading title but I really think I want to be a parent. I’m 38 so not young!

I also hate my job, really hate it. And time on maternity would give me a much needed six to eight months or so away from it and hopefully I would be able to get another job afterwards.

You haven't mentioned if you have a support system or enough money to buy yourself one.

My 7 year old had 8 days off school between the end of Sept and beginning of Dec. cos he was ill.

My after school childcare quit with no notice in november so we had a week with no childcare.

The new nanny started on the 19th of November. She is school time only and has already been off work ill 4 days.

It has been an absolute nightmare juggling work and all this.

You will probably just dismiss me saying you're not going to do all the what ifs but you seriously think about your support system. What happens if you are poorly and in hospital? Who will look after the child?

Go for it. You want to have a baby, so why not now. Try and save for maternity leave though if you’re only getting basic allowance. Yes it might be hard but as long as you know that (which you do) you will get there.
