Up until very recently (last night), I had a group of 4 very close friends.

I recently had an upset of a childhood (sexual) trauma that I've told no one about. One of my friends was here when this happened and I opened up to her, she was supportive and i felt great, lighter.

Last night we all meet for drinks and exchange gifts. We all exchange various supermarket vouchers and have done since our "babies" were babies.

She makes a comment about a paedofile arrest made near her and then says "surprised you don't know him Linda, you were paedofile fodder"
Other people laugh and start questioning me about what happened.

She has told them everything.

I being questioned in a bar. A crowded bar.

I have grabbed my things and left.

Took their things out of my car and left them on the kerb.
I have blocked them. Everywhere.

I have been to supermarkets and spent all the vouchers, put it all in the food bank.

Fuck them.

No “bullying” threads were “allowed”. A few TAATs sprung up while the original thread was deleted, as is always the case when a dramatic, high-traffic post disappears, but these were deleted within the usual timeframe for deleting TAATs.

Why can't they do that without actually taking the thread down?

Moderators are volunteers? Is that true? MN must be making lots of money from advertising and endorsing products. Surely their staff are paid.

Not sure about the daytime mods, but the Nightwatch are volunteers (and fairly toothless), which is why a lot of the more unpleasant troll threads are posted after 9pm, as they tend to stay up a bit longer then.

The paradox of a profitable business allowing such a weakness in its architecture as a cost-cutting measure has been discussed a few times on here.

Oh that's incredibly harsh. OP was abused as a child, had a truly horrible experience with people she considered best friends, had posted on mn seeking some consolation, she's taken down for trolling, multiple threads about her then she's reinstated and still there is harshness. And nothing from MNHQ. She's absolutely entitled to feel a bit...unsettled.

Original friend is anti food bank. Thinks they should go and get a job that pays better and stop having children!

How? How can anyone be friends with someone who voices this kind of opinion?

It’s appalling what they said to you Op. but on the basis of this view, which they had previously aired to you, were you really that surprised?

It would have better for them to leave it up and comment but they make up the rules as they go along.

That is so very unfair. But for those of us who are survivors of SA, who have felt unable to speak about what we went through, to then be silenced when speaking out about it on MN must feel like a kick in the teeth. This was very badly handled by MNHQ, which is a real shame.

I'm saying that's how it can feel. The OP says this was the first time she had spoken about what had happened to her, and it resulted in her so-called friends ridiculing her. Then she spoke about it on here and because of a few troll hunters MNHQ deleted the thread.

I can understand why she would be upset by that.

Troll-hunting gets those posts deleted. Threads get deleted due to reports (and by all accounts they received a lot of reports about this thread, which is par for the course when a poster with no apparent posting history starts a jaw-dropping thread about a highly emotive issue)

Okay, there were reports as well. I confess I thought about doing so myself at one point, mainly because of the disgusting phrase 'paedo fodder'. But I wouldn't assume the worst, because if a thread like this is genuine, then it would be a kick in the teeth for that OP to be disbelieved.

But I wasn't talking about what was actually happening, I was talking about how it would appear to the OP. MNHQ handled it badly by not communicating with her.

You should lay off her, I think.

I do feel like threads are taken down prematurely and I dont really understand why this one was. Couldn't there just be a 'thread under review' message whilst preserving the thread?
