to think Duchess Kate is worryingly thin?

Just saw pictures of the Royal Family coming out of Church at Christmas and was struck by how incredibly thin Kate is, especially around the waist and hips.

I'm sure I will be accused of just feeling jealous, but honestly I would be concerned if I saw an 18-y-o girl that skinny, let alone a woman in her 30s with three children. I can't imagine how severely you have to diet to be that thin so soon after giving birth. I know she is naturally slim but even so, I am worried the constant media attention is having a bad effect on her self-image/mental health.

She's fine. But most adults are too fat in the UK and people don't know what a normal size is.

PersonaNonGarter · 29/12/2018 21:58

Shall we just leave her alone? Shall we accept that there is no correct weight?

TheFaerieQueene · 29/12/2018 21:58

She looks fine to me.

Crunchymum · 29/12/2018 21:59

She is very thin but some people are??

Thisismyhappyface · 29/12/2018 21:59

She looks fabulous. YABU.

TulipsInbloom1 · 29/12/2018 21:59

I think looking at her face and her legs she is slim. Not thin. I speak as a fat woman - we arent used to seeing slim women any more. Her legs have good shape and muscle tone. She has a narrow waist. She has not got a drawn or sunken face. She absoloutley is not underweight.

If i was photographed as much as she was, and could afford my own chef, then I woild be my optimum weight for my height. I cant imagine she is much, if at all, under hers.

ButteryParsnips · 29/12/2018 21:59

She looks pretty happy on it. Let the woman be.

blackteasplease · 29/12/2018 21:59

I really don't think you need to worry about her!

NorthernLurker · 29/12/2018 22:01

You're worried about her self image and your response is to create a thread describing her as too thin? Wow, with friends like you.....

Move2WY · 29/12/2018 22:01

You probably have much more important things to worry about surely.

formerbabe · 29/12/2018 22:01

Op... you'll get loads of responses from the body shaming neurotic types saying that we're all too fat nowadays and Kate is a normal size and perfectly fine.

Personally I think she looks incredibly thin....far too thin. I imagine it must take a huge amount of discipline.

pallisers · 29/12/2018 22:02

This baffles me - the astonishment at her size. I live in the USA and I see women her size every day of the week. I have friends who have had children who are as slim as her. Is it really that rare in the UK to see a normal to thin woman?

My sister is that slim - always has been. looked like her when she was pregnant too. She is in her late 50s now. Perfectly healthy and eats like a horse. No one ever expresses concern about her health. Most women of my mother's generation (war generation) were that slim and no one worried.

YankeeCandlePong · 29/12/2018 22:02

I think she looks healthy and very happy. She is very thin but I put that down to being strict about diet and exercise. She's gorgeous.

Do you not pass women just as slim as her every day of the week?

3out · 29/12/2018 22:02

If this was the 70s she’d just be an average size. Our idea of normal size is different to 20, 30, 40 years ago.

user139328237 · 29/12/2018 22:04

I'm sure its a lot easier to stay thin if you have people whose only job is to plan and cook your food and it's not as though she could just pop to Tesco if she fancied a snack.

SerenDippitty · 29/12/2018 22:04

Her head, hands and feet look to big for her body.

formerbabe · 29/12/2018 22:05

No, not really.

Teenage girls are often very slim like that but rarely women in their thirties.

I think she looks fine. She looks healthy and happy.

JustGettingStarted · 29/12/2018 22:08

Her fertility obviously hasn't been effected. She's fine.

Sparklesocks · 29/12/2018 22:09

I think she’s fine, and it’s hard enough to be a woman in the public eye without people making comments about how your body looks under the guise of concern.

EmeraldShamrock · 29/12/2018 22:09

Not this again. She may be naturally slim. I am 38 with 2DC and I am lighter than kate. I enjoy health foods and walk miles but I eat chocolate everyday and a takeaway weekly. I have a fast metabolism, I never diet as an adult as it brings bad feelings.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 29/12/2018 22:09

She’s fine. The majority of people are overweight and have lost sight of what a normal weight looks like.

JollyAndBright · 29/12/2018 22:10

I don’t think she is unusually thin, certainly not worryingly.

She’s just a naturally slim person.
