Don’t undertand these “can’t wait for things to get back to normal” types. Would you really rather be at work than off having fun or even doing nothing?

Christmas is the only time we all as a family have time off together and are all in the same place at the same time. I don’t sulk like an adult baby when it’s over or anything but I certainly don’t rejoice when it’s all over and back to normality.

.........Aaaand, they are down ! Away from NYE for a couple of days and didn’t want to come back to the Ghost Of Christmas Extremely Recent Past. Nice time packing them away, giving the bookshelves their annual proper dust and sort whilst up the ladder, found room for the new minor Xmas gifts by starting a new charity bag for the old ones. The extra leaf in the dining room table has been taken out, spare chairs resited.

It’s a nice feeling of a new start to an( almost ) New Year .

Twelfth day of Christmas - 6th January.

Santasshoe · 31/12/2018 09:09

Took mine down a few days ago. The cat kept pulling them down anyway.

evilharpy · 31/12/2018 09:12

Ours came down on the evening of the 29th.

EdWinchester · 31/12/2018 13:27

Tomorrow and I can’t wait.

BlackBeltInPresentWrapping · 31/12/2018 15:06

Still watering the tree here. It's drinking an awful lot.

HollySwift · 01/01/2019 15:55

All done here, kitchen and lounge have had a thorough clean through and feels much nicer now! Will do DC rooms once they’re back at school, and ours, which is vile but I keep ignoring Blush

speakout · 01/01/2019 15:57

All down here, all the christmas stuff back in the loft.

Feels good. Tidy and peaceful.

EdWinchester · 02/01/2019 21:28

Ours are down, trees already gone to the dump and the house looks big and clean.

SerenDippitty · 02/01/2019 21:33

We’ll be taking them down at the weekend. Used to take them down on New Year’s Day but feel I want to leave them up longer these days.

Whatthefunk · 02/01/2019 21:34

I came back from the cinema, with Ds, yesterday and Dh had taken them all down....Sad

Oblomov18 · 02/01/2019 21:41

Not yet. When are you supposed to?

Topseyt · 02/01/2019 21:54

I took them down a couple of days ago. It is nice to have the space in my living room back.

We don't have them up for massively long. The DDs decorate the tree on the first weekend of the school and college Christmas holidays. They are up for about a week or so. Down by New Year.

Zevitevitchofcwsmas · 02/01/2019 22:02

Probably next weekend. We will have one more xmassy weekend I think...

Then following week take them down.

mostlydrinkstea · 02/01/2019 22:03

Mine are coming down on 5th Jan. it is close to 12th night and I'm busy all day Sunday.

RomanyRoots · 02/01/2019 22:09

Ours are down tomorrow as birthday girl likes them down before her day.

sophisticatedsarcasm · 02/01/2019 22:11

We are taking it down on Sunday, it’s DS birthday on Saturday and he loves lights so we always leave them up for his birthday. 😊

PhilomenaButterfly · 02/01/2019 22:12

When DH remembers.

BlackBeltInPresentWrapping · 02/01/2019 22:30

You're looking very UnChristmassy already, Phil Xmas Shock

PhilomenaButterfly · 02/01/2019 22:38

I was a New Year Butterfly briefly, but I'm back to normal now BB.

ArfursSixpences · 03/01/2019 21:27

It's our DS' birthday on Saturday too, sophisticatedsarcasm! So the lights stay up until then too :-)

Honkyzeke · 03/01/2019 21:38

I took mine down on the 29th Dec, I would've taken them down on the 27th or 28th had I had time, once Boxing Day has gone I just want to get all of the Christmas clutter out of the way.

Honeyroar · 03/01/2019 21:41

My inside ones came down today, the outside ones will probably come down tomorrow.

MumUnderTheMoon · 03/01/2019 21:42

I take mine down on Boxing Day or the following day at the latest.
