In response to a pp, speakout. We are still feeling the Christmas spirit here on Epiphany, and the house still looks particularly cheery on this gloomy afternoon.

MinesaPinot · 06/01/2019 17:00

All down this morning and tidied away back up into the loft room. We've left out some lights and a lantern that can be described as 'not particularly Christmassy' and they are adding some warmth and light to our living room.

Ok, I am not religious, so Ephinany holds no significance.

I am enjoying my calm tidy, tranquil unchristmassy house.

Yes I have candles too- but not of any christian significance.

BlackBeltInPresentWrapping · 06/01/2019 17:13

I'm sure I'd enjoy your house too, speakout Xmas Smile

Religious or not, we see Epiphany as part of Christmas - I think a lot of people who for whatever reason celebrate Christmas don't realise that Epiphany is about the arrival of the 3 Kings at the stable, having followed the star on their camels with their gifts for the baby Jesus. Lots of people seem to think that it all happens on Christmas Day.

BlackBeltInPresentWrapping · 06/01/2019 17:15

(My DCs are mildly disgruntled that they don't get more gifts, as it happens elsewhere!)

No I didn't think that happened on christmas day.

BlackBeltInPresentWrapping · 06/01/2019 17:29

I'm speaking generally, speakout, not meaning you, or suggesting anyone believes it or not. It's a central part of the Christmas story, after all - that's what I meant Xmas Wink

No problems- many of us don't do any christian stuff at christmas time.

Parker231 · 06/01/2019 18:28

I’m always glad when I’ve cleared everything away in time for New Year. We celebrate Christmas on Christmas Day and don’t follow Epiphany so it’s good to have a clean and tidy house ready to start another year.

Deadringer · 06/01/2019 18:31

Just finished taking them all down, all boxed up ready to be put away. God knows when they will be put back up in the attic though, that's not my department!

TraineeCrone · 06/01/2019 22:46

All away but fairy light put round the banisters first little winter cheer.

TraineeCrone · 06/01/2019 22:47

For a bit first.

Gotstuckwiththisname · 06/01/2019 22:54

We did ours New Years Day or Jan 2nd, can't remember. It'd be down Boxing Day if I had my way!

FestiveFruitloop · 06/01/2019 23:02

Mine are staying up another week or two at least.

PennyWishes1 · 06/01/2019 23:15

All decorations apart from tree down on the 1st. Tree away this morning. Sad to see it go but up since early December and now house feels all fresh again for the New Year!

MartinRohdesBellybuttonFluff · 06/01/2019 23:26

Done today. Some boxes have gone up to the attic, there's still a tiny bit of packing to do, one box should cover it tomorrow.

I love mine and feel a bit deflated after I take them down. When they're up and the house is a bit untidy I don't seem to notice because I'm distracted by the twinkly lights Grin

AnotherPidgey · 06/01/2019 23:32

Ours went down today. The house looks gloomy now and just in need of a good tidy and clean Sad. Somehow fairy lights and tinsel distracted nicely from the effect of 2 kids being off school and stuck in the house too much.

The nights seem much darker from losing all the fairy lights.
