Since I can’t find a thread in the Christmas Forum?

I love hearing about other people’s gifts, good, bad and humorous.

I’ve had a crappy Christmas (really poorly and missed every party/family day) but loved my gifts from everyone which was my only positive part of the season!

I will start, my favs are:
Hive with Alexa
A handmade poem in a frame from DD2
A Disney quiz game from DD1
Gorgeous Ted Baker pjs from my Mum

I didn’t get any bad gifts this year, so no funnies there!

Kids got some funny musical things in their stockings which were like spinning tops which played Axel F and lit up (and they spent ages playing with them),

What did Santa bring you? X

huggybear · 28/12/2018 00:05

To PP who said they can't imagine spending more on a partner than young kids... A good quality watch will last a lifetime. Can you think of an equivalent gift for a 5 year old?

DeRigueurMortis · 28/12/2018 00:30
  • Spa Weekend voucher in 5* hotel
  • iPhone X
  • Hourglass make up (ambient light palette 3, mascara, foundation, lipstick, concealer)
  • new fluffy towels for the bathrooms
  • M&S voucher £100
  • tea towels
  • moisturiser (my curent favourite M&S sleep cream)
  • socks
  • a bar of my favourite dark chocolate
  • cosy dressing gown
  • a new (larger) mason Pearson hairbrush
  • cash (circa £800 - not just as a present but also as a contribution to hosting Christmas - we host for the family so have a houseful and no I don't "charge" or ask for any contribution but they are all very kind and respect it's expensive to host so many people for 3 days).
olympic19 · 28/12/2018 00:32

A Garmin Forerunner triathlon watch and an electric toothbrush. Both of which ostensibly came from my husband, although I bought and wrapped them myself. I must admit to being rather envious of women who were given thoughtful gifts. Of course it goes without saying that I bought every single gift that was given in my house. I'm not sure why I bother.

Heaviestdirtyestsoul · 28/12/2018 00:37

A 3D model of the flying scotsman, a lot of CK1 and a slytherin mug :)

Anothermothersusername · 28/12/2018 00:40

Gin with pink tonic mixers, necklace, Money, slippers, a pressure cooker, bracelet, an led nail curing kit and polishes

DeRigueurMortis · 28/12/2018 00:40

Olympic that's crap Sad

I must admit I have to coordinate present suggestions for our immediate family (including myself) but to be fair my mother and DH always pull out the stops to get me something thoughtful and a surprise.

My ex was the opposite though - I was expected to do all the work of "gifting" for his family and mine, whilst he took all the bloody credit for his thoughtfully chosen presents and still expected me to feign surprise for the present from him, that I'd chosen and bloody gift wrapped to myself Hmm

It's one of the many reasons he's an ex (thank god I didn't have children with the bugger).

olympic19 · 28/12/2018 00:44

DeRigeur Yes, I'm actually feeling rather sorry for myself today. I hosted 6 members of his family for a full Christmas dinner and not one of them even thought to bring a bottle of wine with them. They can make their own bloody dinner next year.

EllaDownTheLane · 28/12/2018 00:44

A beautiful necklace from Daniela Draper jewellery.
Emma Bridgewater teapot.
Bridgewater Christmas mugs.
Fat face scarf and pjs.
Cashmere cardigan.
M&S chocolate coins.
Victor & Rolf perfume.
Book about dogs.
Joules scarf.
Diary.
Puzzle.
Cash.

olympic19 · 28/12/2018 00:45

To clarify - I didn't want or expect a gift from my in-laws, but I do think it's rather poor form to show up empty handed to someone's house for a multi-course meal.

Choccywoccyhooha · 28/12/2018 00:46

Wow, some truly lovely gifts!

I got
3 books
