Since I can’t find a thread in the Christmas Forum?

I love hearing about other people’s gifts, good, bad and humorous.

I’ve had a crappy Christmas (really poorly and missed every party/family day) but loved my gifts from everyone which was my only positive part of the season!

I will start, my favs are:
Hive with Alexa
A handmade poem in a frame from DD2
A Disney quiz game from DD1
Gorgeous Ted Baker pjs from my Mum

I didn’t get any bad gifts this year, so no funnies there!

Kids got some funny musical things in their stockings which were like spinning tops which played Axel F and lit up (and they spent ages playing with them),

What did Santa bring you? X

My children are all under 5. We spend around £75 on each of them and quite a lot more on each other. I imagine that will change as the children grow up and start wanting computers or iPads or whatever the current thing is!

An absolutely gorgeous watch, the most expensive thing I own bar my engagement ring and I'm a bit scared to wear it, but I love it!
My most favourite hand cream, a calendar with a very handsome man in it and best of all a gift that I'd told DD months ago was my favourite Christmas present as a child and DH managed to source one very similar.
I've been very very lucky this year and DH is quite chuffed that he did present buying better than me for once Grin

Pa10ma · 27/12/2018 23:10

DH bought me this year - a dress he knew I’d like; lingerie (more for me not him)! and a white gold cuff bracelet. The DS’ bought me 6 bowls from Anthropologie that I’d been looking at Grin. One DD gave me mini Neom candles and the other some Oud. They also gave me chocolates from each cat!

Bertiebitch32 · 27/12/2018 23:11

I told DH not to bother this year it saves arguments and feeling an afterthought , the kids know I like my candles so got me a mini set of three swizzle Mathew's candles, I was very pleased . DH got a set of green claw slippers that her liked of the kids (me) Grin

EthelHornsby · 27/12/2018 23:12

A personalised jar of marmite and a jigsaw with all four of my children’s faces on

GreenMeerkat · 27/12/2018 23:13

Makeup, slippers (most used gift so far!), Pandora charm, PJs, gig tickets, necklace.

DH bought me a slushy maker which baffled me. I had cravings for slushies while I was pregnant and couldn't get enough, but I had my baby 2 months ago and am on a diet so certainly won't be having any sugar loaded slushies any time soon. The thought was there bless him but I doubt it will get used!

Outwards · 27/12/2018 23:13

A butter dish.

ShesABelter · 27/12/2018 23:14

Got fifty quid from my mum and 80 pound restaurant voucher from my dad and my brother got me a bottle of moet. My grandad paid for us to go to panto like every year.

MissusGrinch2018 · 27/12/2018 23:14

To answer a PP we are certainly not wealthy but comfortable - and we adore Christmas and go all out to get presents we know our family/friends appreciate.

I also forgot my Vivienne Westwood bag, purse and earrings that was a present to myself Grin x

fartwhenyoustandup · 27/12/2018 23:25

My children are all under the age of 8 years old. I find it so strange that people spend more money on their partners than they do their children, regardless their age.
I'm so sorry if that sounds judgemental, but I can't ever imagine buying my partner a nice new watch to the tune of £5/600 when I could spend that on the children. I just find that really selfish! Unless you have lots of money and can cater for everyone...£75 per child is nothing. I can't believe a small minority of parents would rather spend more on themselves than give their children a bumper Christmas!

bananasandwicheseveryday · 27/12/2018 23:31

@fartwhenyoustandup our dcs are now adults but no way would they have ever had that amount of money spent on them - in fact, that sum was the amount we spent between our entire family for birthday and Christmas this year. And somehow Dh and I both managed to buy each other some lovely gifts. We are definitely not wealthy, but for us, Christmas is about the whole family.

leccybill · 27/12/2018 23:32

Off DH: new laptop, swarovski bangle, scarf, Les Miserables tickets.

Off my parents: £25, a fluffy throw, handbag, a good umbrella, bronzer.

Very pleased with everything!

Christmasfairy07 · 27/12/2018 23:32

Lovely winter coat from M & S

Lacy knickers

BeanTownNancy · 27/12/2018 23:32

I got some lovely gifts. A signed copy of a book I wanted, lovely shoes, thoughtful snuggly relaxy things from DH... But most exciting was my crab bell.

MissusGrinch2018 · 27/12/2018 23:32

I absolutely agree with this

I'm so sorry if that sounds judgemental, but I can't ever imagine buying my partner a nice new watch to the tune of £5/600 when I could spend that on the children. I just find that really selfish! Thankfully I'm single but even when with a partner our money went on our son - we fortunately had money to buy each other nice gifts but no way would I spend that much on a partner and so little on my son - but for some women I've seen on MN partners mean more than their children - really sad x
