Adults who won't drive

I'm not talking about those who have health difficulties or can't afford a car. Just those who can't be bothered to learn, or who learn but can't be bothered to sit their test.

I'm once again spending Christmas having to do all the ferrying around and staying off the wine, while my sister, who has learnt to drive and even bought a car but has refused to sit her test, has been chauffeured around and been able to drink as much as she likes.

With my mother getting older and more reliant on lifts it's very annoying.

YANBU, OP.

I know plenty of people who don’t/can’t drive and that’s fairy snuff: we live in an urban area with good public transport.

I have a car beacuse I regularly drive to/from other areas, including places for a sport a couple of my non-driving friends also do. One friend always gives me petrol money, so as to share the cost of the journey between us, and will make her way to/from wherever it’s convenient for me to pick her up etc. The other friend always wants to be collected/dropped off even though it’s miles out of my way, and only contributes when directly asked. His view seems to be that I was going anyway so he shouldn’t have to contribute (even though additional people = worse fuel economy)

Guess which one I now avoid giving lifts to?

When it’s made clear that a thread isn’t about non drivers who don’t take the piss getting lifts

It has moved on somewhat in the following several hundred posts, with a lot of “most non-drivers are piss-takers and I don’t believe all the people on here who say they don’t ask for lifts” stuff.

OP’s sister is a cheeky sod who shouldn’t be getting ferried around anywhere. Don’t think OP minded giving lifts to her mum though.
