To think I can have sex before period without getting pregnant.

I usually use condoms but around 2 days before my period I allow my partner to ejaculate inside me. He looks forward to this each month lol so I allow it as a treat.

I don’t want anymore children. I have been doing this for the past 2 years and seems to have worked so far.
I don’t do this anywhere near ovulation. Am I being risky?

I think its fine. However, only if you and your partner are okay with if by the small chance you get pregnant having another child. Its very unlikely you would. I used to do the same thing with my partner for a year before we decided to have a baby. But we were okay that if we fell pregnant we would be happy to have the baby.

I don’t need an app to tell me when I’ve ovulated. I suggest you get to know your body better!

Ginandsonicscrewdriver · 25/12/2018 15:41

Well it’s more scientific for a start - the app relies on temperatures, not just a “feeling”.

And I don’t ovulate, but thanks.

EerieSilence · 25/12/2018 15:48

I am an infertile day. My schoolmate was "won't get pregnant when ejaculated into during a period". I know some other "won't get pregnant when ..." people.
You, OP, must be either incredibly naive or having a great laugh.

Applecrumble79 · 25/12/2018 16:20

I have fibroids and ovarian cysts so I’ve been told that it will affect my fertitity slightly. I’m not silly so know there is a chance of conception. I have woken up and smelled the coffee therefore reassessing my contraception method!!

I used to have heavy periods, I had a copper coil fitted, now they are normal and far more regular 🤷‍♀️
Also, won't be getting pregnant either.

Toomuchworking · 25/12/2018 16:31

I thought I knew when I ovulated, had sex the day after my period ended (it's a 3 dayer), he withdrew and we will be welcoming number 3 in June. We wanted a third at some point so were a bit daft but if you don't want one it's definitely risky.

brownjumper · 25/12/2018 16:37

Why is it a treat?

thebaronetofcockburn · 25/12/2018 16:50

I got pregnant with my third this way.

Wallywobbles · 25/12/2018 17:16

I use a copper coil. Periods were heavier for a while but it seems to have calmed down at around the 6 months mark.

I have 2 DC conceived during a theoretically impossible moment in my cycle.

Hotpinkangel19 · 25/12/2018 17:28

Op, what would happen if you did get caught pregnant?

Applecrumble79 · 25/12/2018 17:34

@Hotpinkangel19. I’m a grown woman so would just get on with it.

I had a no hormone coil and it didn’t give me heavy periods, I expect it’s something you only k ow when you try. It was a very reliable form of contraception.

Hotpinkangel19 · 25/12/2018 17:38

You would continue the pregnancy then?

BreconBeBuggered · 25/12/2018 17:41

People are different, aren't they? To me, ovulation was as distinctive as a period, and as I had a very regular cycle it was easy enough to pick the times we'd need condoms, including several days before and after for safety. When we decided to TTC, it happened fairly quickly. But 'it worked fine for me' can't in this case be a recommendation to someone else whose system might be less clockwork. You need to calculate what your response to an unexpected pregnancy might be.

Applecrumble79 · 25/12/2018 17:41

@Hotpinkangel19. Yes I would. Hopefully that won’t be the case as I will need to sort this out.
