to ask if you had sex on your wedding night?

Getting married in the near future, and I'm already pretty certain there will be no shagging on the wedding night. Sex is quite infrequent anyway (but this suits us), and after a long day I know we will both be too tired.

Until a coversation today, I thought it was normal to not consummate marriage on the actual wedding night. A few friends have said it is extremely odd to not, and is something you have to do on your wedding day for 'tradition'.

I am no virgin, so I don't see the big deal. I would prefer a cuppa and Dairy Milk.

No having only had less than an hours sleep the night before due to our newborn there was no way I was doing anything other than sleeping! Doesn't need consumating if you already have a baby Smile

BarbedBloom · 22/12/2018 08:01

We did.

Kitkatmonster · 22/12/2018 08:03

No, our 15 month old had already claimed his spot in the centre of our bed 😂

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 22/12/2018 08:03

Given we were sharing a room with the DC, sex had to wait for a few days!! 😁😁

BlueSuffragette · 22/12/2018 08:08

We did

Ilikeknitting · 22/12/2018 08:10

We didn’t. Too tired after a tremendously long day.

Mulberry72 · 22/12/2018 08:12

Yes we did Blush

‘Twas amazing!

Groovee · 22/12/2018 08:13

We did!

Heatherjayne1972 · 22/12/2018 08:28

Honestly does it matter?
Some do some don’t. It’s whats right for you in the moment
We did but only after id opened the presents first - prioties !

My friend didn’t until she came back from honeymoon and only then because she insisted

brighteyeowl17 · 22/12/2018 08:38

We didn’t. We were tired and it was so hot- middle of summer and the stone walls of the venue made it like a sauna for some reason, we went for a walk to look at the castle instead! Didn’t see it as a big deal we had lived together for years.

TheGlitterFairy · 22/12/2018 08:44

We didn’t. Both had too much to drink plus it was a late end to the party! We did the next morning though!

Mamabearx4 · 22/12/2018 08:48

No, i was on my period that showed up that morning. We made up for it on honeymoon.

NotUsedBySomeoneElse · 22/12/2018 08:50

No. It was the time of the month, which I was pretty gutted about at first, but I think it took any pressure off. I think we would have if not, but we were exhausted and it was far nicer to just have a bath together and go to bed. We did it maybe 3-4 days later on our honeymoon, after a lovely night out in a country we’d always dreamed of going to. Wouldn’t change anything.

Mammyloveswine · 22/12/2018 08:51

We did it in the sauna then over the rolltop bath.... next morning we did it in bed before going off on honeymoon!

Hubby probably wonders what happens as with 2 kids under 2 id rather sleep these days Grin

rockofages · 22/12/2018 08:51

ladymargarethall were you at Edge Hill?

Figlessfig · 22/12/2018 08:53

DH and I got married 30 years ago in a hotel. The reception ended at 1 am. We had arranged rooms in the hotel for parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and anyone else who wasn’t a party animal.

We hired a bus and the party contingent came back to ours. And boy, did we party! At 4 am DH and I realised we hadn’t “consummated the marriage” (although we’d been living together for 4 years and had a DD).

So DH and I trooped upstairs, me still in my meringue-style wedding dress, DH in his kilt, and had a good hard shag. Gave us a new lease of life! We went back downstairs to the party, which eventually ended at 7 am. Happy days!

scarbados · 22/12/2018 09:08

No. We'd lived together for ten years before we decided to give us 'official status'. After a busy day spent with friends and family, folllowed by a blazing row with Selfish Old Bitch (aka MIL), all I wanted was a shower, a large gin and a lot of sleep.

billybagpuss · 22/12/2018 09:11

We did but a few years we were staying in a hotel. All the other rooms were booked out for a wedding so for some reason they'd upgraded us.

The walls were rather thin and we were next door to the bride and groom. Around midnight they came up to bed, clearly having celebrated well. All we could hear for the next hour was him trying to get her dress off. The zip had stuck, she couldn't get out, he was getting increasingly more frustrated then a piercing whiny brummy accent came out with 'shut up, its my wedding night tooooo'

Maybe I should have knocked on the door and offered to help Grin

PinkFluffyFairy · 22/12/2018 09:17

Another no here.

Jellyonawonkyplate · 22/12/2018 09:19

We kind of eloped, so on the actual day we were on on our own, no huge party..was one of the best shags we've had.
Had a huge party with friends and family a week later, spent all night dancing and ended it drinking tea at 3am..no sex as too tired.

TherightsideofHERstory · 22/12/2018 09:37

We did but were interrupted by Hotel Manager knocking at door, he had brought complimentary champagne up to us when a member of staff told him we had got married that day. Fond memories of DH in hastily thrown on pants trying to take the tray without opening the door more than a few inches, and we don't even like champagne Grin

Monkeynuts18 · 22/12/2018 09:38

Nope. Passed out straightaway!

SagelyNodding · 22/12/2018 09:40

therightside Grin We didn't as DS2 decided he wouldn't stay over with a friend as planned, so he slept in between the 2 of us! Not the end of the world either way!

OddestSock · 22/12/2018 09:44

We were sharing a hotel room with the kids, so absolutely not!

HashTagLil · 22/12/2018 09:48

Yes we did. Took full advantage and did it once in the meringue dress and once in the sexy basque and stockings underwear with very high heels. Kept my tiara on throughout.

There was an epic thunderstorm as well so very dramatic.
