to ask if you had sex on your wedding night?

Getting married in the near future, and I'm already pretty certain there will be no shagging on the wedding night. Sex is quite infrequent anyway (but this suits us), and after a long day I know we will both be too tired.

Until a coversation today, I thought it was normal to not consummate marriage on the actual wedding night. A few friends have said it is extremely odd to not, and is something you have to do on your wedding day for 'tradition'.

I am no virgin, so I don't see the big deal. I would prefer a cuppa and Dairy Milk.

We got to the room and dh helped me get about seven billion hair grips out of my hair and we decided to get in the shower together because it was a massive walk in one but couldn’t be bothered with sex, we opened our wedding cards and presents because we’d both drunk so much we’d drank ourselves sober and were wide awake. Then went to bed, we did eventually get round to it but more in a “we probably should as it’s our wedding night” rather than the throws of passion Blush also partly as we’d been living with his parents for years and it was nice to know they weren’t in the next room!

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 21/12/2018 23:48

Yep nipped off before the evening reception. With great care not to mess up my hair 😂 then went back and carried on partying until 4am 👍

MsLucyLastic · 21/12/2018 23:49

Nope. Far too tired. Had 11 million Kirby grips in my hair and it was so full.of hair spray that I had to wash it before bed. Romantic! Plus, my ribs were killing me from the weight of my dress. We had champers in bed then snored!

Marmite27 · 21/12/2018 23:50

We’d said we’d probably be too tired etc etc. Got back to our room at 4am and did. No pressure clearly worked for us Grin

ChipsAreLife · 21/12/2018 23:50

Yes. We got back to the room at about 3 am and really wanted to. I didn't even take my dress off 😆 it was great though!

XiCi · 21/12/2018 23:50

Nope, up with our guests in the residents bar till, 6am. Brilliant night Grin

Youcancallmeval · 21/12/2018 23:51

anotheremma we had gone home, his parents were in a hotel locally with a key to our flat. She let herself in and was knocking on the bedroom door.
He went with her and his family for breakfast and came back 2 hours later.

HappyEverIftar · 21/12/2018 23:52

Yes and I was knackered. Still glad I did though!

ImogenTubbs · 21/12/2018 23:53

I didn't. We were both shattered and I was a bit overwhelmed. DH says it was because by the time I had removed 50 pins from my hairstyle he had lost interest... Hmm

Nichelette · 21/12/2018 23:54

Nope. Was heavily bleeding (poor timing!). Did a couple of days after on honeymoon. I don't think it's such a big thing nowadays though.

MrsDeltaB · 21/12/2018 23:55

No here too. We had both had a drink and were merry but not plastered but. By the time dress was undone and 768 bobby pins plus crystal twist thingys were extracted from my scalp we both forgot that plan.

Yet. Still recall husband trying on the underslip from my dress and enjoying the silk! 😆

If you do, great if you don't, great. Neither has any lasting effect on life ahead.

GlitterPixie · 21/12/2018 23:55

Genuinely can’t remember but am 95% sure not

FoxFoxSierra · 21/12/2018 23:56

Yes but it was a knackered half arsed shag because we both felt that we should

TimeForWhat · 21/12/2018 23:57

No, my husband passed out whilst I tried to get out of my wedding dress!

tablelegs · 21/12/2018 23:57

Nope. Husband was drunk and we had a 3 month old baby.

TooLittleTooLate80 · 22/12/2018 00:03

Twice, between the afternoon and evening meals and after it had all finished but neither of us were big drinkers. I recall reading its statiscally 70/30 if you do/don't due to alcohol and stress of the day.

MadMum101 · 22/12/2018 00:05

IIRC we tried to but 4 month old DD was going through sleep regression in the cot next to us and was grouchy after being passed around all day.

itsalmostfriday · 22/12/2018 00:06

Fuck no! We were too pissed!!! Did it lots the next night tho 😍

greendale17 · 22/12/2018 00:07

Yes

Flowerfae · 22/12/2018 00:07

We didn't. We got engaged a couple of years before then arranged the wedding but I got pregnant pretty much right after arranging it but we still kept the date. DS was just under 8 weeks old when we got married, he didn't sleep at all when he was a baby (he was diagnosed later on as having autism and learning difficulties) so we were shattered. We didn't go on a honeymoon either, we were not bothered though :)

pumpkinpie01 · 22/12/2018 00:07

Nope, DH had a stomach bug and I had had way too much bloody prosecco !

nessus · 22/12/2018 00:10

No disappointedly, too stressed for a sexy mindset!

Yulebealrite · 22/12/2018 00:10

Can't remember Blush

Jaxhog · 22/12/2018 00:12

Nope! We were at Luton Airport waiting for our (very) delayed plane.

Justwaitingforaline · 22/12/2018 00:14

No, we were far too drunk after a 16 hour long wedding ( married at 10am, still going at 4am Grin ). We made up for it the next afternoon after the gin fog had disappeared.
