When it's obvious that what he actually said was "stupid woman".

@pointythings

In a world where we are heading towards the cliff edge of No-Deal Brexit this is what people are worried about? Really? Fucking really????? Hmm

Calm down love.

That is not what is happening.

Calm your histrionics.

BRING ON NO-DEAL BREXIT! Oh yeaaaah! Grin

WinterfellWench · 19/12/2018 23:07

@UpstartCrow

Looking at the video at 0.25 speed, I think he says 'people'. His lip shapes are 'ba ba' not 'wa ma'.

Wrong.

He is saying STUPID WOMAN.

Get your eyes tested.

Jellykat · 19/12/2018 23:10

Ah yes, i remember exactly the same hoo haa, when Philip Hammond called Andrea Jenkyns a 'stupid woman' earlier this year.. NOT!

MardyArabella · 19/12/2018 23:24

At my work conference we had a Deaf woman give a talk about lip reading. She talked about how even trained lipreaders only get it right about 60-70% of the time because actually a lot of words do look like each other.

Really none of us are ever going to know the truth. So all this “he clearly said x” is redundant when either woman or people could fit his mouth movements.

ADropofReality · 19/12/2018 23:36

Let's be plain; there is no way in the world he said "stupid people". Anyone with any ability to read lips or with half a brain recognises he says "woman" rather than "people". Only the Corbyn apologists try to argue he said "people".

At which point the argument switches. "Well, May is a stupid woman".

Alright then. If it's OK for him to say she's a stupid woman then it's OK for everyone else to point out that he's a Marxist, anti-semite who hates Britain and who spent the 80s and 90s cheerleading for the IRA, the post 9/11 era cheerleading for Hamas and Hezbollah and was duped in the late 80s into having tea and pouring his guts out to a Czechoslovakian spy.

I'd rather a "stupid woman" at Number 10 than this utter fucking vermin.

blackteasplease · 20/12/2018 00:01

I looked with a completely open mind to either and it really looks like "people" me.

blackteasplease · 20/12/2018 00:02

Stupid people isn't ideal either though.

busybarbara · 20/12/2018 00:17

If this were a thread about actual children we'd be picking them up on the use of the word "stupid" instead Grin

Defenbaker · 20/12/2018 00:17

To me it looked like he said "Stupid woman", but because a lot of people were doing pantomime type jeering at the time, he probably thought it would be plausible to claim that the second word was "people". Anyway, he called her a liar last week, but that didn't seem to bother anyone much.

TBH I couldn't get angry about it, I was too busy laughing at the time. But the trouble is, the way our MPs are behaving at the moment makes our government look like a total joke, at a time when we need them to work together and get the best deal possible from the EU.

TM is not perfect, and has made some stupid mistakes, but I think she's trying her best to get a deal done with the EU to avoid the uncertainty of crashing out with no deal. There are 27 countries united against the UK, so it was never going to be an easy task, which is why so many others couldn't leave fast enough when they got the chance. TM has shown more balls than many of the men who slunk away, not willing to man up and take the job on. I don't hate Corbyn, but I hate the way he and others are more intent on scoring points against TM, than they are on doing what's best for the country - namely, working together to get the best deal possible.

Username198 · 20/12/2018 00:21

May is an careerist desperately clinging to power and couldn't care less what is in the best interest for the people in this country as her voting record proves.

Graphista · 20/12/2018 01:05

"Yet again assumption that if you don't vote Labour you vote Tory."

Nope - I said IF you vote Tory, no assumptions made. This thread is very much tory v labour in tone so I was also addressing those that do vote Tory - while decrying labour, JC etc as being the bigots!

willsa · 20/12/2018 01:24

He said STUPID WOMAN. No doubt about it. How is it possible to claim otherwise? It's so obvious.
However, it's his cat bum facial expression that offends me the most!

MutedUser · 20/12/2018 01:35

He lied right to all our faces . He clearly said it. Wouldn’t he have been more respected if he just admitted it and said sorry. We are all human but lying about that he can’t be trusted to tell the truth about anything now .

KayM2 · 20/12/2018 01:40

I'm not sure he did say stupid woman.** There seems to be disagreement among lip readers. In any case , she is a woman. ( actually she is not stupid, but we'll leave that) , so" stupid woman "is only sexist and offensive if one decides it is on custom and usage grounds." Stupid man"; is THAT sexist? Clearly not, if said by a man. But if a woman said it?

I don't buy it, the idea that "stupid woman" is sexist. Whatever JC is about , sexism isn't it, as a rule.

Meanwhile , the country is in the most trouble it has been in since 1940, and " stupid woman" or " stupid people" is the big story.

** He probably did .

ThatssomebadhatHarry · 20/12/2018 02:07

Tory bots out in force. He clearly doesn’t say woman.

MutedUser · 20/12/2018 02:17

Never voted Tory or Labour so totally impartial here badhatharry so there goes that theory .

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 20/12/2018 08:02

Tory bots out in force. He clearly doesn’t say woman.

People shouldn't have to preface their post with 'not a tory' but they are having to because of silly comments like this

It looks to me like he says woman, but i am happy to accept that to other posters it looks like 'people' and that he may well have said 'people'

W0rriedMum · 20/12/2018 08:21

I am rather unbothered by this story as the House is an embarrassment at the best of times - all that jeering and noone listening.

But I'm sure Corbyn said woman!!

tillytrotter1 · 20/12/2018 08:41

I'm surprised that anyone's surprised!

TibetanMountains · 20/12/2018 08:44

This thread is hilarious. I am not really political at all. It seems completely obvious to me that he said Woman, like blatantly and embarrassingly obvious.

I have noticed that Corbyn has this sort of cult like following in some quarters, as though he can do nothing wrong. Even with clear evidence like this. It is almost like people are brain washed by him. I don't understand it at all.

KissingInTheRain · 20/12/2018 08:49

I can’t get too worked up about one politician attacking another in the way he did. He’s a bad tempered, egocentric bore like most MPs. Par for the course.

And pointing out his faults to members of the Jezza cult is futile because to them his every saying or deed is sacred. As Christ drove the moneylenders from the Temple, so Corbyn insulted the Prime Minister.

His supporters will interpret what he says as they wish. They regard his every word as divine and the Revealed Truth.

HauntedPencil · 20/12/2018 09:28

Move we can certainly agree on that one!

everythingisginandroses · 20/12/2018 09:46

Stupid Tories. Stupid Brexiteers. 2018: the year of arsing stupid.

TheSultanofPingu · 20/12/2018 11:23

everything has summed it up very well I think! Smile

BartholinsSister · 20/12/2018 11:25

He's a politician, they're supposed to lie.
