Following on from a similar thread asking for examples of companies that give bad customer service... I can name about 5 off the top of my head. TK Maxx, River Island, JD Sports, Debenhams, John motherfuckin Lewis, Cath Kidston, Schuh

The best -

Selfridges
Nando's
McDonald's (staff are usually rude where I am but the customer service team over the phone are brilliant).
Dorothy Perkins
JoJo Mama Bebe

@listentothewords we only have your word, yet when you're trying your hardest to convince everyone that you got extremely good service you're actually doing the opposite. So what effect would it have if you were writing in a more realistic tone?

MaluCachu · 16/12/2018 22:28

Another vote for The Book People

ListenToTheWords · 16/12/2018 22:33

@LosingLola

I take it you think I'm fabricating this? What more "realistic tone" do you want? The title of this thread is "To ask what company has given you great customer service?" I have commented and you, for some reason, disagree. I don't know why, as you were not there and you do not know which branch I am writing about.

And trying my hardest "to convince everyone that you got extremely good service" - what for? All I have done is share my experience.

Notreallyhere23 · 16/12/2018 22:37

M&S- I had a bit of a complicated problem, probably caused by myself but they were so on the ball when I rang, sorted it straight out and just knew what I was saying straight away.

Fitbit really went above and beyond.

H&M this week- I paid for next day shipping even though the website clearly said it would be 2 day as i still needed the item quicker than standard shipping- on the day of delivery they refunded my delivery cost unprompted even though they’d put it on the website that it wasn’t next day. I thought that was good.

SheWoreBlueVelvet · 16/12/2018 22:40

Barclaycard.
Have a credit card for it's 0% interest. Noticed this month that I had been paying two months worth of interest plus a late fee because I had underpaid in October ( I always overpay so I think I tapped in the first digit wrong). It was my mistake but I was only £3 under the minimum.

Literally couldn't have agreed quicker, blamed their automatic system ( even though clearly my at fault Blush).Lovely chap apologised profusely, refunded the interest, refunded the fee and reinstalled my 0% without any quibble.
Impressed.

longwayoff · 16/12/2018 22:42

And, good, with great staff, Joules, Montezuma, Waterstones. Always a bit lacking, Boots and WH Smiths.

Avrannakern · 16/12/2018 22:44

@LosingLola

Are you quote all right? I cannot figure out why you've taken issue with a pp. She desvr8bed good service which has stuck with her... That's what she was asked to do.

I've had piercing from studios where the attitude is "don't be a baby, sit down, let's just get it done" and I've had piercing from lovely people who are gentle, kind, human. It's just their manner of dealing with people, and it's s noticeable difference.

What is your problem? Leave the other poster alone. Honestly... You're arguing with someone because they made a nice comment about someone. Really? Nothing better to do?

ChipsCheeseAndBeans · 16/12/2018 22:58

The AA. A while ago I broke down on the motorway with a young baby. Stressful time especially trying to change a dirty nappy on the hard shoulder. Tweeted about it - thanking the AA and said one day I will find this funny. A year later they retweeted me saying “is it funny yet”. Made me smile.

holidayingsoon · 16/12/2018 22:59

Best for me so far is Argos and bravissimo. Bought a bra for £40 went on holiday and the strap snapped within 3 weeks, the lady was so helpful on the phone found my details as I didn't have a receipt and send me one for the next day, I even asked if they could send it in a different colour to the original one and she did without a fuss.

LosingLola · 16/12/2018 23:03

@Avrannakern haha perhaps your new name will be more convincing next time

Avrannakern · 16/12/2018 23:14

@LosingLola

I’ve been around for a while. Totally different person from the poster you were going after. I just don’t like bullies.

LosingLola · 16/12/2018 23:33

@Avrannakern well I hate murderers but that doesn't mean anyone here is one

onefootinthegrave · 21/12/2018 08:34

Nationwide - When my nan died we had to close her accounts and they couldn't have been nicer at such a terrible time. My new years resolution is to switch to them from Halifax as the woman at our local Halifax branch has never raised a smile and doesn't give a shit about us customers! I complained about her once and got a text from Halifax saying they'd call me to discuss. I didn't want them to - I wanted them to reply to my email. They must have called me when I was at work and couldn't pick up, and that was it. Never heard from them again.

1hello2hello · 21/12/2018 08:43

Europcar hire at Naples airport. A booking confusion that was my fault & they were brilliant when they really didn't have to be. I could have been £s down.

Hollywood Bowl gave DS & friend an extra free game when they finished earlier than I was picking them up.

MarkingTimeIm59 · 21/12/2018 08:52

ao.com are great. I’ve bought all my electrical appliances from them lately. Most recently I paid to have a large fridge/freezer unpacked so all the cardboard and wrapping was taken away. The delivery driver noticed a (microscopic) dent on the back of the item, made a quick phone call and I had a £50 refund deposited into my account a couple of days later. One very happy customer who will happily go back and recommend 😊

timeisnotaline · 21/12/2018 08:59

Boden- always rapid response to any question, gave me a credit (as well as a refund obviously) when something was faulty recently.
Cathay Pacific - very friendly and helpful on the phone, and they pick up the phone just about immediately! It’s an airline! I was shocked, having spent literally hours waiting to get through to Qantas over the past month.

Kazzyhoward · 21/12/2018 09:03

Best: Amazon. I buy almost weekly from them, and inevitably, occasionally something goes missing or arrives faulty/damaged. Always quick/simple to arrange replacements or returns no quibbles.

Worst: Joint Argos and Currys - the staff seem to take any problem personally and go out of their way to prove you wrong.

RedDwarves · 21/12/2018 09:11

Lush and Apple are the two best I've dealt with.

Letsmoveondude · 21/12/2018 09:11

My DH ordered a pair of timberlands for me, which didn’t fit, he asked to return them, the return scan didn’t work, he emailed to ask for a new one, they said, keep the 𝑩𝒐𝒐𝒕𝒔 we will issue you a refund anyway.

onanothertrain · 21/12/2018 10:35

I've recently had fantastic customer service from white stuff even though the issue was actually my fault for not reading the delivery t&cs

Bujinkhal · 21/12/2018 10:37

Alpkit, always outstanding.

Lollypop27 · 21/12/2018 10:52

Marks and Spencer’s when buying my sons prom suit. The assistant went above and beyond to help us. I sent an email to head office with her name praising how good she was.

Most recently Tesco. I was after something which wasn’t in store and the young lad called other stores in a twenty mile radius to see if they had it.

NoisePollution · 21/12/2018 11:10

Phillips - our steam iron broke out of warranty. For £50 they arranged a courier to collect it, sent us a cheap iron (to keep) while they fixed it, and returned it promptly with a lot more than £50 worth of parts on it

SingingSands · 21/12/2018 11:31

Sainsburys home insurance.

Absolutely brilliant with our claim following a burglary. Really helped me calm down and talked me through everything clearly. They were honestly a pleasure to deal with!

JustHereForThePooStories · 30/12/2018 16:03

You won't have heard of this company in the UK, but Max Benjamin omg, I complained that a candle didn't have the strong scent I was hoping it'd have and he said maybe the diffuser would have been a better choice and he got a courier to bring me a diffuser that afternoon! I opened the front door and there was a reed scent diffuser in grapefruit

I was going to say Max Benjamin too! Husband got me some MB gifts that included a set of ceramic votive holders with candles. He opened the box on arrival and one was completely smashed, but the candle was fine. He emailed customer service to ask if a replacement holder could be sent to replace the smashed one.

They emailed to say they were sending a new set immediately and to keep the damaged one as an apology. So two holders and three candles for free, which was very unexpected. Replacement set arrived the next morning by courier.
