Following on from a similar thread asking for examples of companies that give bad customer service... I can name about 5 off the top of my head. TK Maxx, River Island, JD Sports, Debenhams, John motherfuckin Lewis, Cath Kidston, Schuh

The best -

Selfridges
Nando's
McDonald's (staff are usually rude where I am but the customer service team over the phone are brilliant).
Dorothy Perkins
JoJo Mama Bebe

Best - Amazon, very quick to refund when item didn't arrive , no questions asked. Great Little trading company, replaced an incorrect item quickly and allowed me keep the incorrect one, no questions. M&S, refunded a childs coat months after I bought it when zip broke, no receipt nothing, couldn't believe it.

Worst - currys, can't even go there except to say they are AWFUL and I will never shop there again!

Prince of Wales Theatre, Leicester Square. Went to buy tickets in person. They were really helpful at helping me choose the best cheap seat. Then, when I needed to swap the date, that was no problem and they didn't even charge me the small fee the website said they would.

Roomba · 16/12/2018 10:02

M&S are legendary for their customer service. A colleague used to work for their call centre. They had a woman who complained her M&S jeans had stained the cream leather seats in her BMW, so M&S agreed to pay for the seat to be recovered at great cost. It turned out BMW didn't do that particular leather any more, so M&S paid for the entire car to be reupholstered so it all matched! They did start putting warning labels on all their jeans after that one though.

My local Sainsburys are always brilliant with any problems or refunds. Unlike Tesco, who left a security tag on a shirt I bought in another city. When I took it into my local store with the receipt, they refused to remove it and said I had to go to where I bought it! I was gobsmacked but I was really ill at the time and didn't have the energy to argue. I too it into Sainsburys down the road and they took the tag off no problem.

I've always had good service from Amazon. I accidentally bought two t shirts for DS last week, no idea how I didn't spot that! Contacted Amazon to see how to return one, they told me to just keep it and refunded me straight away.

We lost DD’s teddy on holiday in Cyprus 8 years ago. Contacted the holiday firm (Cosmos Holidays), they located teddy, kept her safe in their local office (sent regular emails of teddy ‘helping out’ in the office) and one of their Reps brought her back to the UK two weeks later (she was finishing her stint out there) and posted teddy (along with one of their own logo ones as a friend) special delivery to my work two days later with a letter for DD saying Teddy had enjoyed her extended holiday.
Amazingly thoughtful.

Moonpig.

I sent my dad a birthday card online and used their new add a signature tool to sign the card and had it delivered straight to pops.

Ahhhhh... That explains how I got an unsigned Moonpig card from my sister. Caused much confusion as I assumed it was from someone else! I don't use Moonpig so wasn't aware of this function.

LittleLlamaontheduskyroad · 16/12/2018 10:15

John Lewis. Ordered something about 6/7pm on a Saturday, assuming I'd have it by Tuesday. Knock on the door at 10am on Sunday morning. It was John Lewis with my item. Very impressed.

EE: I managed to rack up a £150 bill calling the US (new phone contract, I had previously had free international calls with my old job). Called them up thinking it was their mistake - it was mine!

Nevertheless the man on the phone was extremely helpful. He went to his managed and got my extra bill halved - which was totally above and beyond given it was my own fault.

EE pretty much have a customer for life in me now...

DianaBlythe · 16/12/2018 10:24

Naked wines. Accidentally ordered wine to my old address. My fault, told them this. They retrieved the order, sent it out to my new address and gave me free wine for the inconvenience which was entirely caused by me!

WWlOOlWW · 16/12/2018 10:27

Molton Brown

In their shop I kept changing my mind which scented product to buy and the sales lady accidently put the wrong one in the bag. Didn't realise till I got home. Emailed them to ask how I could exchange and they sent me one for free (and kept the other one).

SpoonBlender · 16/12/2018 10:28

Amazon. Their policy is to always side with the purchaser, refund/replace with no quibbles. Because good customer service is cheaper than losing customers. The only trouble comes with other shops selling through Amazon, who may be useless. Amazon will override them eventually, but they get it in the neck anyway because they have to give the other shops time to respond (which they often don't).

Apple. I've had very few actual issues with Apple kit, but I had about half of an iMac replaced for free five years out of warranty and three years after the extended warranty for a known issue had expired. Had one dead-on-arrival refurb iMac that was replaced next day with a new non-refurb one. Had refurb Mini's and MacBooks arrive with extra RAM or disk capacity beyond what I ordered.

Crucial. They sell RAM with a lifetime warranty, and do next-day replacements. I've only ever had two sticks go bad, but so worth it.

What a lovely tale. A friend of mine’s DS left his teddy in the back of a cab that had taken them from the airport to their hotel in Portugal. The cab driver realised later that day and drove all the way back to the hotel to drop it off. These teddies get very adventurous on their hols!

IndigoSpritz · 16/12/2018 11:23

Direct Line car insurance, plus DLG repair shop and Enterprise car hire. I've been without my car twice this year because of other drivers reversing into me. All these companies kept me on the road while my car was being repaired and were prompt and courteous at all times. I can't fault any of them.

Babyroobs · 16/12/2018 11:31

Another one impressed by Amazon. They sent me an order and a small dog Kong was missing. I just reported it and immediately they are sending another, they only had my word for it that it was missing and I was expecting to have a bit of a fight but no quibbles they are sending a replacement straight away.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 16/12/2018 11:35

Amazon, John Lewis, the dudes in my local Starbucks. All cracking at customer service.

I have a few pricier sentimental bits of jewellery from them - they do a 2-year warranty on replating. I'd totally forgotten but they emailed me a reminder 2 months before the warranty ran out, they're replating one ring and they straight up REPLACED a bracelet where I wasn't bothered about having the 'original' completely free. That's one way to ensure I'll always go back to them!

fennelteadrinker · 16/12/2018 12:52

Nuna. I lost the arm bar and tray table bits of the highchair when we moved house, and they sent me replacements free of charge within a few days of me enquiring about purchasing spare parts.

I8toys · 16/12/2018 13:10

Amazon and Marks and Spencer. Always use chat function on Amazon and never fails to solve my problems.

IWentAwayIStayedAway · 16/12/2018 13:15

Amazon fab. First direct the bank are fanbloodytastic!

CigarsofthePharoahs · 16/12/2018 13:17

Our local Waitrose is legendary for it's good service. This happened to a friend of mine.
She'd ordered some cold meat and bread for a wedding buffet. When she got there, there had been a problem and the meat order hadn't been put through properly. The manager said she could choose any meat and just pay the original price, so she got a better meat.
Then when she went to collect the bread, that had also not been put through properly and the manager threw up his hands, profusely apologised and said she could pick any bread and any meat and refused any payment. Result!

rupertpenryswife · 16/12/2018 13:36

Premier inn and HSBC are the best, I know you didn't ask but I was really disappointed with the awful service from Molton Brown.

rupertpenryswife · 16/12/2018 13:36

Sorry I meant first direct not HSBC!!

Yabbers · 16/12/2018 13:39

Amazon. Every single time.

Xmasbaby11 · 16/12/2018 13:39

Book people have been great for me too. When an item was missing, they responded the same day and posted it out immediately.

Ashhead24 · 16/12/2018 13:45

Joie. The buckle on my car seat broke after 18 months, so I contacted them to ask if it was still safe to use. They asked me to send it to them and as it wasn't repairable sent me a brand new one. Pretty amazing, I only wanted to know if it was still ok to use as it was only a minor break.

Sainsbury's are always great with the DC when I go in and always really helpful in the cafe.
