Following on from a similar thread asking for examples of companies that give bad customer service... I can name about 5 off the top of my head. TK Maxx, River Island, JD Sports, Debenhams, John motherfuckin Lewis, Cath Kidston, Schuh

The best -

Selfridges
Nando's
McDonald's (staff are usually rude where I am but the customer service team over the phone are brilliant).
Dorothy Perkins
JoJo Mama Bebe

Astley Clarke jewellers - amazing service
Fitbit - totally superb
Both times fixed something that was my issue

The worst - Tui Holidays. Utter shite.

Jagsy · 15/12/2018 22:32

Disneyworld Florida (who didn’t have to do anything but went above and beyond - we were bowled over and went on a further 2 trips!)
& John Lewis for best service.

GinaLinetti99 · 15/12/2018 22:33

Recently I've had fantastic customer service from Tesco and Aviva.

Appalling service from Amazon though. I ordered an item but received the wrong item. The item I received was not what I wanted and was far larger, heavier and sold for far more than I had paid. I asked if they could collect it and resend the correct product. They basically shrugged their shoulders and said unless I could lug it to the post office, they wouldn't do anything about it.

gaggiagirl · 15/12/2018 22:34

Amazon have always been excellent for me.
Asda, always friendly and helpful and efficient.
Argos, so pleasant at the tills and sweet with the DC and have helped me to the car with things.

gaggiagirl · 15/12/2018 22:34

Yes to fitbit. Absolutely amazing.

Dottierichardson · 15/12/2018 22:35

Amazon and Waitrose both brilliant...John Lewis really awful, would never buy anything from them again that requires delivery and/or installation. Zara charged for next day delivery arranged for when I was in, didn't turn up and delivered on a totally different day, only refunded the amount paid for next-day delivery after much hassle and didn't even apologise for the inconvenience, will never order from them again...

Cleo18 · 15/12/2018 22:36

Waitrose
John Lewis
No question

Also recently Cote restaurants

Cleo18 · 15/12/2018 22:37

Oh and First Direct

Flightywoman · 15/12/2018 22:37

Fitbit are brilliant. I accidentally went swimming with my first one and they replaced it for nothing. Then my next one got run over, and they offered a replacement or a discount off a newer model.

No quibbles, just helpful.

House of Fraser were recently really great, I bought my husband a coat and the lining frayed and ripped after a few months. Then we kept forgetting to take it back so it was 9 months before we got it back to the shop, and after their take-over by Sports Direct. Again, absolutely no quibbles, just a straight refund and a note on the style so we could look at it again when the new season's ones came in.

Both unexpectedly helpful and excellent.

Build a bear - amazing service, made such a fuss of my daughter on her birthday. Made it a complete highlight of her day.

Local garden centre- our Christmas tree died 10 days after we bought it,they replaced it no questions asked. Also made me choose it there and them as the stock was running low and they wanted me to have the best I could. Even though I couldn't pick it up until a day later.

wonkylegs · 15/12/2018 22:39

My local Morrison's has gone above and beyond on more than one occasion- the latest was just a little thing but was so thoughtful:
Checkout lady was chatting to my 2yo who was pushing his own little trolley (they have kids ones now) and he was telling her all about his tomato bag which is one of my bags for life bags with tomatoes on it which he adores and insists on packing 'his' stuff in and she remembered he had the same one every week. He told her he loved it. As I was finishing up packing up my shop she disappeared up the tills and popped back brandishing the last tomato bags (they've changed the picture on them) they had and tucked them in my shopping bag telling me to keep them for when his eventually breaks, no charge for the little man. A tiny thing but so thoughtful and they often do go that extra mile.

One for the horsey MNers...

I bought a pair of leather gaiters from Tredstep about 15 years ago and they were, hands down, the single BEST item of horsey clothing I'd ever owned. I wore them day in, day out and they were terrific, so the day the elastic stirrups finally gave up the ghost was a sad one for me.

Having done the rounds of cobblers, saddlers etc to try to get them mended, I eventually contacted Tredstep to see if they had any advice.

Not only did they send me a postage-paid label to send them to them, they then repaired them for free and mailed them back for free, too.

Said gaiters are now approaching their 17th year of service!

Considering I had only asked them for advice and there was no obligation upon the company to even reply, never mind do what they did, this was hands down the best example of customer service I've ever experienced. It's also worked: not only am I very loyal to the brand, I talk about it at times like this, too. Wink

scaryteacher · 15/12/2018 22:40

Brakeburn in rectifying an incorrect order and Joules for replacing some tops in a different size for me and honouring the offer price and throwing in free postage.

Letsmoveondude · 15/12/2018 22:44

Hotel chocolat in Milton Keynes, both really good and really bad customer service. I had exceptional service when trying to buy the velvetiser, went to the cafe and the lady who served us had a face like a slapped arse and I think only managed to say the total amount for what we asked for. But hotel chocolat always has good service.

The Dior counter in Westfield white city, lovely lady who gave us quite a bit of time and was friendly, funnily enough I find the Dior girls increasingly rude- the more money I have to spend there!

BMW always gives great service wherever we go.

Disneystore- always the greatest service, but the staff in MK are quickly getting to know our family.

And whilst they’re not a massive national company. I get great service at our local butchers and the ice cream parlour where DD is having her birthday party, so lovely there.

PodgeBod · 15/12/2018 22:46

Sainsbury's. I was in there a couple of months ago just picking up essentials, I don't usually shop there as they are too expensive for me. It was a fairly small, older supermarket. My kids, 1&3 at the time, were overtired and playing me up. First a member of staff opened a till for me when they were whining in the queue, and asked another person to wait when they tried to barge in front of me when I was moving the trolley. And then when the 3 year old said she needed the loo right now, they watched my trolley and took me through the back to the staff toilets (no public loo). Really went above and beyond when I was having a hard time.
I would love to support them but unfortunately my bank account insists on Aldi instead.

Molakai · 15/12/2018 22:48

Wayfair. I ordered s chest of drawers for my parents which arrived severely damaged (looked like it had been dropped from a great height!) I emailed pictures at 3.15 PM and by 7.30 pm the same day I had an apology and refund!
Reordered and had a second one delivered in perfect condition.

Longdistance · 15/12/2018 22:49

Argos have been great to us when dds Amazon fire x2 packed up.

Amazon have been great when a parcel had not been delivered. Well, they can’t argue with cctv.

Debenhams have been absolutely shite. Asda, also in my shite list. Nationwide for taking 3 weeks and lots of arguing for them to send me a new card after I was defrauded 😡

drspouse · 15/12/2018 22:50

Small local supermarkets have always been great at letting DD aged 4 use their loos.
I buy fabric from small sellers, some of whom get their fabric specially printed. They are SO accommodating and helpful, pretty much to a woman.

Plaiceholder · 15/12/2018 22:50

Netflix were excellent.

Switched to EE 6 months ago. Quite impressed with them.

TeddyIsaHe · 15/12/2018 22:53

Papier. In my sleep-deprived state I sent a card to the wrong address recently. They printed and sent a new one out the same day for no cost at all. I love them.

Always had fab service from Space NK, Selfridges and Ocado.

Dorothy Perkins are awful, I bought a pair of jeans they later found were out of stock. I’ve only just got my refund 3 months later! V annoying

SlightlyCoddled · 15/12/2018 22:56

Thanks for Tredstep gaiter recommendation Thistleamore.

I recently received great customer service from Anthropologie. They replaced an item that had been damaged in the post without quibbling and very promptly. So refreshing!

Belmo · 15/12/2018 22:57

Fitbit
Babipur

ginghamstarfish · 15/12/2018 22:58

Amazon customer service is always excellent.

PodgeBod · 15/12/2018 22:59

For balance, I have had awful customer service from Asda. December 2016 my Christmas shop arrived on the 23rd, several hours late but I could understand that. There must have been 2 or 3 bags missing, however. I posted about it at the time- and despite several emails and a "gesture of goodwill" I never got the full amount back and had to go shopping on bloody Christmas eve when i had guests. It took me 45 minutes to get out of the Tesco car park! With a crying newborn in the car seat. I cancelled my delivery subscription and I'm still angry with them.

Sandsnake · 15/12/2018 23:02

My one experience of Amazon customer service was amazing. I’d ordered posh gin for a Father’s Day gift for DH which didn’t turn up, despite being left a delivery card. I told Amazon and they refunded me the money without quibble and I bought a replacement on the high street. A few days later I was emptying the bins when I saw the package in the wheelie bin! I thought I should be honest so told Amazon but they told me to keep it as a goodwill gesture for their driver’s odd choice of delivery place... win!

Naked Wines are good, too. They called DH to let him know that he had some money accrued in his account as he hadn’t been ordering as much as usual. He told them it was because I was pregnant and so we’d obviously been consuming less wine as a household. They sent a lovely baby blanket for our soon to be newborn, which was really sweet of them.
