Name and Shame

Name and shame the lousy customer service you've had - if you want to get it off your chest.

I'll start the ball rolling with Plusnet who have screwed up my elderly mother's phone. She was going to move late next week and it's all fallen through so we phoned them yesterday and were on hold for two hours. They have left her with a disconnected phone even though it wasn't supposed to be disconnected until next week and have done nothing to fix it. They promised it would be fixed by midnight yesterday but isn't and she's been in tears about it as she lives alone and is reliant on the phone. I've sorted out a pay as you go for her for now.

I've named and shamed on Twitter and written recorded delivery to the CEO.

@brizzledrizzle This happened to me with DHL too!
I rung their customer services and told them it was left in my Bin on Collection day, and she said she knew as the Courier had Taken a photo to show it was put inside my Full Bin outside my House.
I told her I had come home to an empty Bin, and she said it wasn't her problem, ring the company that sent the parcel and hung up!

StoorieHoose · 15/12/2018 19:28

Hermes without a doubt

BT Business - the most incompetent shower of shite I have ever had to deal with. EE business have started going the same way now they are part of BT

Aridane · 15/12/2018 19:30

scoleah - you need to put your foot down on paying the return postage

treaclesoda · 15/12/2018 19:31

Irish Ferries. They left thousands of customers out of pocket this summer and refused to compensate us. A shambles of a company. They have cost me hundreds of pounds.

agedknees · 15/12/2018 19:31

Liverpool airport. For leaving my disabled sister on a plane for 45 minutes because the plane she was on wasn’t on turnaround. The vehicle that comes to help wheelchair users kept being rerouted to planes that where on turnaround.

45 minutes on a freezing plane, thanks.

Joinourclub · 15/12/2018 19:32

PocketFullofMumbles I just had a look on their Facebook - not good.

Strawberryhat · 15/12/2018 19:32

Like such, The Works! Did a click and collect, received text to say order was ready. DH went to collect the items, but the system said they’d already been collected althoigh they couldn’t explain why, and they didn’t actually have the items in stock. The manager suggested a refund and then we could reorder them - inconvenient, but fine. A few days later, no refund, rang the shop, they directed me to customer services, who directed me back to the shop. Shop claimed they’d sort it. A few days later still no refund, the manager finally sorted it after more calls.

And this week - Argos. Washing machine delivered Monday, the top dented and scratched. Spoke to customer services Monday late afternoon, who promised a new one Tuesday as well as the dented one to be collected at the same time. Delivery driver calls on Tuesday to say they was only collecting and the new one wasn’t on the van. Then one of them made repeated HILARIOUS ‘what have you done to this, dropped a hammer on it, hurr hurr hurr’ comments (which I doubt he would have said to a man) when they came.

The replacement finally came, late, on Wednesday.

paem · 15/12/2018 19:33

John Lewis, for problems too numerous to mention with deliveries, this is for several items over a number of years. DD has just experienced similar with a fridge freezer, so it's not just me.

KnackeredHag · 15/12/2018 19:35

Anglian Water. Burst water main flooding an entire floor of house. 9 months for them to admit liability after being passed from pillar to post. They're still dragging heels with payment.

hidinginthenightgarden · 15/12/2018 19:36

Home start.
They cam eto fix our washing machine and forgot to turn it off at the plug before working on it. The guy was in such a rush he didn't plumb it back in properly and flooded the kitchen. A few months later, they came out to fix a toilet. Guy comes and says he needs to get us a part and will have them confirm a new appointment. Doesn't and Dh has to ring back. Guy comes and says we need a part X3.
Eventually they are coming fix but don't turn up/cancel x3. Then they fix it but it breaks again a week later x2.
Fucking useless!

JemSynergy · 15/12/2018 19:40

American Airlines - would never fly with them again.

VW - missold me insurance which actually couldn't be used on my car then took months to refund with me chasing them several times.

Sky - I was a loyal customer for years which means nothing to them.

Currys - ordered a built in washing machine which they then took 6 weeks to order because they kept cancelling the delivery without notifying me. Wasted three days waiting in with a no show. Paid for installation and I ended up doing the installing. Installers dragging the washing machine all over the tiled floor. I will never be a Currys customer again.

NotAColdWomanHenry · 15/12/2018 19:46

Scottish Power! Don't know their arse from their elbow. Constantly sending me letters saying they are going to do things then not doing it. Generally have no idea who I am when I phone with all my details. I hate them! But I'm stuck with them for some reason no other provider can properly explain to me when I try to switch, to do with my meter.

Royal Bank of Scotland - arse up every single thing they ever do. I only haven't switched yet because I can't face the hash they're going to make of it.

StripeyDeckchair · 15/12/2018 19:47

Ryan Air
Concern for my blood pressure stops me from retelling why in too much detail, suffice to say I will NEVER fly with them again

HeyDelRey · 15/12/2018 19:48

Easirent car rental at Manchester Airport.

I ordered a Volvo XC60 or similar (something robust and comfy with some power, for which I paid extra) as I would be driving in the Peak District in February. On arrival, they offered me a choice between an underpowered Renault people carrier and their 'executive car', which was some sort of low slung white boy racer BMW, but which at least stood a chance at getting up big hills.

On return, they charged me an extra £60 cleaning fee as there was a bit of mud in the back from the kids' feet, making it need a 'deep clean' - load of old nonsense, as it could have easily been hoovered up. The whole thing was a scam from start to finish.

Tattybear16 · 15/12/2018 19:49

Browns Brasserie and Bar, Birmingham yesterday. Absolutely appalling, won’t be visiting again, ever. Really unwelcoming with terrible customer service and mediocre fairly expensive food.

fuzzyduck1 · 15/12/2018 19:54

Dreams ordered a bed £3000 they delivered it but wouldn’t put it together! Have you ever tried to put a 6foot bed together with a bad back?

eggsandwich · 15/12/2018 19:55

ECONOMY ENERGY
We’ve change energy provider but are still waiting for our £500 credit back, rang them and apparently they can’t say when we’re likely to get it so we've gone to ofgem to get it sorted.

All I can say it’s disgusting that they are allowed to just sit on our money for 2 1/2 months without doing an automatic refund when you change provider like some companies do.

WilburforceRaven · 15/12/2018 19:55

United Airlines. Shitty shite.

British Airways. Daytime trans-Atlantic flight in Summer. Arsehole staff who don't want to work it turn ALL the lights off for 7 out of 10 hours 'so you can rest' and then when too many folk got up to talk in the back because it's not Y1 naptime they got the fasten seatbelt sign turned on.

So fuck them. No more business from our family who used to use them a lot.

LottaHogs · 15/12/2018 19:57

NOW:Pensions, an Occupational pension provider we had the misfortune to sign up to. The list of ignored emails and non-returned phone calls goes on and on and on, as does the list of inaction for even the most straightforward requests. They’ve been fined by the Pensions Regulator AND removed from their list of pension providers.
I simply do not know how they’re being allowed to continue to exist.
There are SO many bad reviews about them on Trust Pilot.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 15/12/2018 19:58

South West Rail

For the shit service we pay through the nose for and WILL be paying more for in 2019 making their network the new “Southern Rail” only with less partially understandable industrial action just a fucking dogshit service.

tillytrotter1 · 15/12/2018 19:58

Sky, I've been complaining for years about poor broadband speed, one of their agents actually said it was so poor that she was amazed we could get anything, 0.2 the other day. They sent a BT man this week who changed their main socket and it went up to 3.6, still not brilliant but Sky could have done that years ago.

LittleLlamaontheduskyroad · 15/12/2018 20:01

Boohoo. Claimed they never received a return of mine, despite me providing proof of postage. Return was worth £30. There's no phone line so you have to correspond on social media. I emailed the CEO after being messed around and I'm still waiting for a reply. Months later.

Strawberryhat · 15/12/2018 20:02

fuzzy I had a bad time with Dreams too, a few years ago I bought a bed with the absolute promise it would be delivered on a particular day as I was moving into a new house and didn’t have a bed! I got a call two hours later saying it wasn’t possible for them to deliver on that day, so my only option was to pay a courier myself and Dreams would refund me.

It took three months for me to get my money back. I should have got a refund and gone elsewhere, but I was so tired after sorting a house move and I didn’t really have time to go bed shopping again.

DaysOfCurlySpencer · 15/12/2018 20:04

AO, had used them once with good service so used them again. Dishwasher arrived and was fitted and plumbed in. Except it wasn't. They ran a test and it worked but half an hour after they left I noticed the sound of running water and it had flooded the cupboard where the pipes were and all the ground underneath. To top it off the water was spraying over the electric sockets.

AO again, gave them the benefit of the doubt and the first one had been OK so ordered a washing machine. They looked at the fittings and made an excuse about them being old ones - they were new. Said they could leave it and we could get someone else to install. I told them what to do with it and went to Euronics.

NameChanger22 · 15/12/2018 20:06

Most delivery companies, Hermes are the worst. Royal Mail are the best, but still crap. Why do they expect everyone to be in during the day when nearly everyone is at work?
