Mine was Mr Frosty. Far too messy! My mum bought it for my 21st birthday as I'd gone on about it so much Smile

Another who didn't get the big yellow teapot

sar302 · 15/12/2018 09:20

I asked for a pony - my rich friends had a pony. We were not rich.

What I got was a book on how to care for your pony. I bloody loved that book! Read it like I had a pony to care for. Never really missed the actual pony 🤷‍♀️

Bouchie · 15/12/2018 09:21

My Frostys ad campaign must have been shit hot!

lostandconfusedd · 15/12/2018 09:25

I got a Mr frosty and loved it!!
I always got everything I asked for Blush

DingDongDenny · 15/12/2018 09:27

Foslady Me too - I wanted a scalextrix one year and then a skateboard the next - both 'boys toys'

I got a doll instead and drew on her face in protest.

TheBigBangRocks · 15/12/2018 09:35

Lots, Christmas was never a big deal in our household for the children.

Lots may turn out to be rubbish or disappointing but we simply pass them onto the charity shop if so but they always get what they ask Santa for so hopefully they would have nothing to list on a thread like this in future.

londonrach · 15/12/2018 09:36

Always wanted these. Sadly my parents couldnt afford new toys so it was whatever was in the charity shop. Now as an adult i still cant afford them as go for silly prices online. I must not have been the only one.. Got the red motorbike and dog in a charity shop but love the whole set one day.

I wanted a Barbie doll, but got a Sindy instead.

cleanasawhistle · 15/12/2018 09:44

I wanted a Girls World but never got one

AllIWantForChristmasIsTomHardy · 15/12/2018 09:45

Same Mr Frosty. Never forgiven Santa 🎅

DoYouLikeHueyLewisandTheNews · 15/12/2018 09:49

How could I forget, the thing I really wanted was a Sylvanian families play set thing. Think it was a school or a tree or something. Never got even one of the little critters.

Itsallamysterytome · 15/12/2018 09:53

A petite typewriter.
I had been banging on about one for a year, didn't get it so went on about it for another 12 months. Don't think my parents could stand another year of it so gave in. I actually used it a lot and I do have that novel still to write.

Trills · 15/12/2018 10:00

I'm sure I did, but I'm an adult now and I haven't managed to remember it or care about it for this long.

Maybe I'm not very good at holding grudges.

Charley50 · 15/12/2018 10:02

Lots of things Sad .. Fisher Price barber Shop play-doh toy as a child, a pony, cool clothes when a young teen. Then I lowered my expectations! I'm not bitter! Grin

Charley50 · 15/12/2018 10:07

Oh yeah a Boxer or Grifter bike instead of the girls bike I got, called Denim.
Jewellery. Cheekbones!

ShinyMe · 15/12/2018 10:15

I wanted WANTED WANTED a red curly Annie wig we saw in Boots just before Christmas. I was with my mum and she said she would have bought it for me right then because I wanted it so much, but she didn't have enough money on her. She promised to get it next time but when she went back it had sold out and she went all over the place and into every Boots she could think of, and phoned everyone she knew in other towns and still never tracked one down. She still mentions it sometimes about how sad she was that she couldn't find one. It was really cheap, just not available anywhere. Before the days of debit cards and the internet!

ManicGirl · 15/12/2018 10:24

@fruitbatdancer
Teddy Ruxpin! I wanted one off these and asked for it for years! I'm amazed more people haven't said it. Obviously too busy dreaming about Me Frosty Smile

I also wanted a Sylvanian Family windmill. Just had to keep inviting myself over to this girl's house who had one.

Fruitbatdancer · 15/12/2018 10:29

@manicgirl that’s the one! I wonder if ebay has one? Grin
I actually had the windmill (still have it!) it was amazing but I always wanted the Manor House! So used to go to my cousins a lot who had it Blush

Maelstrop · 15/12/2018 10:40

Horse, obviously (you grow out of ponies too quickly) I had to buy my own in my 30s eventually. Very upsetting. 😡🤣🐴

LadyOfTheFlowers · 15/12/2018 10:41

Me frosty. I asked for 4 years running then gave up 😐

LadyOfTheFlowers · 15/12/2018 10:41

*Mr

PrincessHairyMclary · 15/12/2018 10:43

Mr Frosty.....bought one for my DD it was rubbish and my parents were right not to buy it.

llangennith · 15/12/2018 10:49

A ballet tutu when I was 7. I wasn't any good at ballet but I so wanted a frilly tutu. My birthday is a week before Christmas and my mother told me not to be silly when I asked for a tutu as my birthday present, so I said I'd ask Father Christmas. She told me he wouldn't get it for me either. And of course he didn't. I was so disappointed and didn't quite believe in him from that Christmas.

WistfulBarnacles · 15/12/2018 11:12

Mr Frosty, penguin race thing (where penguins go up a mountain) and a play Post Office. I got a play sweetie shop instead and my parents got annoyed that I ate the sweets

@londonrach - my parents still have that treehouse toy and my DCs play with it now. Sorry you didn't get one Sad

ScreamingValenta · 15/12/2018 11:15

I got the penguin race as a surprise one year and it was brilliant!

I think I must be the only person on Mumsnet who never hankered over a Mr Frosty. The picture in the Argos catalogue of some fruit juice dribbled over lumps of ice looked completely unappetising.
