Mine was Mr Frosty. Far too messy! My mum bought it for my 21st birthday as I'd gone on about it so much Smile

Etch-a-sketch and a typewriter (child of the 60's). Bought a typewriter with my first paypacket. Never did get an etch-a-sketch.
My dcs had the climbing penguins and a Mr Frosty.

I also wanted a Barbie/Sindy house and asked for one every year, but it never materialised. My friend had the campervan which was absolutely amazing. I was so desperate, I used to look in the newspaper classifieds to see if I could find a bargain to persuade my parents. If I ever have a child, he/she (me) is definitely having one!

It wasn’t all bad though. I did have a Mr Frosty ☃️ Grin

ThanosSavedMe · 16/12/2018 18:06

Wow. There were a lot of disappointed when we never got out mr frosty!

GrandTheftWalrus · 16/12/2018 19:01

Another one that didn't get Mr frosty.

Heaviestdirtyestsoul · 16/12/2018 20:49

I have been singing songs from fame all afternoon, throwing in (dodgy) awesome dance moves 😂

Shockers · 16/12/2018 20:53

ABBA The Album.

I cried for most of Christmas Day because it was the only thing I’d asked for.

chunkyjumper · 16/12/2018 21:07

@Shockers was it ABBA Gold? We got my mum that fur her 40th. My ears have never recovered Sad

@chunkyjumper, no it was released in 77/78 and had Name of the Game and Eagle on it- my two favourite ABBA songs. It wasn’t a greatest hits type album.

I was 11 and I loved them.

chunkyjumper · 16/12/2018 21:36

Aw @Shockers! Glad I started this post! I actually do love ABBA but my mums hoovering ruined it 🤣🤣🤣

The film MamaMia ruined it for me! ConfusedGrin

Another one here who never got a very much longed for Mr Frosty!
or a Cadbury chocolate dispenser.

I wanted the little sweet shop - got the post office. I wasn't allowed to stick the stamps on anything, or write on the envelopes and tax discs and things 'in case I spoilt them'. Treasured it carefully for a couple of years then my younger niece and nephew managed to trash the entire set in one afternoon (thanks to mum for letting them play in my bedroom whilst I was out).

Also a Sindy caravan, which I did get, but then it was decided that it was far too bulky to store on my bedroom floor and it was stashed away in an out of reach cupboard never to be seen again, until niece asked for it a few years later. All of a sudden it was duly handed over because I was now apparently 'too old for it'.

chocolatebox1 · 17/12/2018 13:09

@dancinfeet ohh the Cadbury chocolate dispenser, I wanted one of those so much! I miss the dairy milk in foil and paper from before they changed the recipe. I don't think it is as nice now

chocolatebox1 · 17/12/2018 13:12

@UnapologeticallyUnhinged thank you for reminding me about the post office, I absolutely loved that! The one that was like a plastic briefcase and you could put it on a table and sit behind it like a post office counter? I'm not sure what the appeal must have been but I played with that for years!

beardeddragon174 · 17/12/2018 19:22

@chunkyjumper a mobile phone?? Noooo!! Ruined. Grin

burningcandle · 20/12/2018 22:42

Care Bears wellies Sad

Marshmallow91 · 20/12/2018 23:07

Everything, really.

One in particular was the baby Annabel doll. 3 years in a row I sat looking at the Argos book, wishing it to come off the page. My parents didn't celebrate my birthdays, and didn't really do much for Christmas.

UnapologeticallyUnhinged · 21/12/2018 09:22

@chocolatebox1 the very same! I had the office too which had an old school switch board thing for 'taking calls'. Kids now just wouldn't understand...
