Mine was Mr Frosty. Far too messy! My mum bought it for my 21st birthday as I'd gone on about it so much Smile

I got Mr Frosty but never got the original playdoh barber set. To be fair my lists were always surprises please so not exactly helpful

NoFucksImAQueen · 15/12/2018 00:05

forgot to add theg gave me a plastic one instead. they also like to remind me I was indignant about it and said next year I'll ask santa for a baby sister and probably get a doll!

GlitterPixie · 15/12/2018 00:05

A Secret Keepers toy I got a stupid (in my 10 year old opinion) doll in a gingham dress instead Xmas Sad

chunkyjumper · 15/12/2018 00:09

@NoFucksImAQueen my dd asked for a 'real life bunny' a few years ago. After much debate we decided that we would get her one. Went to see Santa at the garden centre who told her (quite outraged) that there was no way Santa was bringing a live animal! She was gutted. But we'd already bought the bunny so her face was a picture on Christmas morning!

Mr Frosty here too.

Also I wanted a Sindy one year and I got a fucking Girls’ World (head you put make up on). My mother took the blusher off me, I think it was a creme blusher and she didn’t want it getting on the cream carpets. So basically it was a head I could put eyeshadow on.

There was a knob on her neck that you could twist and her hair would grow. My 5 yo self did not fathom the limitations of this so I was pretty disappointed when more hair didn’t just “grow” after I styled a nice short haircut with the kitchen scissors.

Apologies to anyone reading this tale of woe for the third or fourth time on MN. I should probably get over this now that I am 42.

I did eventually get a Sindy.

chunkyjumper · 15/12/2018 00:12

@MayFayner you've just reminded me of a doll I had that's hair grew if you turned the arm! Think the hair changed colour with water too! Can't remember what it was called!

Another for Mr Frosty 🤣

IFeelSick2 · 15/12/2018 00:14

@chunkyjumper - thank you :) yes all is good! Actually I have a lovely family of my own now (very 'D'H and wonderful DC), but this time of year always reminds me of little me, in my bedroom wishing only that my mum would be happy and my siblings would be happy. I couldn't have given a stuff what actual presents santa bought. I'd have swapped every and any toy for a happier household! Every year on Christmas Eve I prayed to santa and god (!Hmm) for a happy mum, and was always disappointed on Christmas Day (she's still not happy!) My children are so so lucky that they can actually enjoy Christmas and ask santa for toys! (Even if he can't always quite get them exactly what they want!!!) I just always get a bit sad reminiscing, but also v grateful and happy for what I currently have :)

A real live baby! Unsurprisingly really.Grin

whoami24601 · 15/12/2018 00:22

Barnamint my sister had the big yellow teapot! It's been played with by lots of kids (my mum was a childminder) and is still going strong now- it's one of the first things my kids get out when they go to DM and DF house. It's probably 30 years old at least!

Cherries101 · 15/12/2018 00:33

I wanted Mr Frosty too. So of course that’s the first thing I think of when gifting to my friends / family’s kids

SilverDoe · 15/12/2018 00:35

That is soooo sweet Halo

A Girls World. Asked for one several years in a row, but never got one Sad

Kitkatmonster · 15/12/2018 00:38

Cabbage patch doll Xmas Sad

eachtigertires · 15/12/2018 00:40

Literally the only thing I ever wanted was a pony/horse. From about age 5. Never got one. I do share one now though :)

Thirtyrock39 · 15/12/2018 00:40

Every Christmas I asked for a dog
One year I got a transformer and was so pissed off my parents told me Santa wasn't real. I was 8. This is why no matter how many 'I question their critical thinking' mumsnet opinions there are I will not confirm this to my own kids.
Incidentally my dd has asked for a slush puppie maker which at £59 is a definite no no and I think I have basically bought off amazon a posh mr frostie instead- let's hope it's vaguely successful !?!

chunkyjumper · 15/12/2018 00:43

@Thirtyrock39 is it the slush puppy one? We looked at that last year but daughter changed her mind. I'm sure it will be great x
