Mine was Mr Frosty. Far too messy! My mum bought it for my 21st birthday as I'd gone on about it so much Smile

@WistfulBarnacles was the penguin thing often on display in toy shops and the penguins followed each other in a line and went up a hill/mountain then back down again?

I wanted one of these too!

Is Mr Frosty shit? I always wanted one too.

Confusedbeetle · 15/12/2018 11:18

Nobody tell you santa is made up?

Atleastihavethecat · 15/12/2018 11:33

Mr frosty as well. Asked every year. Very glad my own DC have never wanted one.

I got the pony though. Had her until she passed from old age in her 30s. Getting a pony is a bit like getting a job, but still best present ever.

Loftyswops988 · 15/12/2018 11:34

The only thing that has stuck with me is that when i was 12 i wanted a particular brand skirt more than anything in the world. I had asked my parents and then my uncle who was visiting from abroad had asked me if i want anything in particular for christmas (where he lived brands were much cheaper to buy), and i told him about the skirt too. Come christmas morning i was expecting even a possible doubler of this skirt!! uncles present was something expensive but crap and the skirt was nowhere in sight. I remember being so enthusiastically thankful but really inside wanting to cry

Stardustmemories · 15/12/2018 11:35

A life sized Barbie. Not even sure they existed 😂

inkydinky · 15/12/2018 11:36

I got my mr frosty aged 30 (after two decades of moaning).

Malibucyprus · 15/12/2018 11:38

Mr Frosty here too! And also any kind of Playdough! If you didn’t get either of those because they’re messy, then you’re possibly a sibling of mine 😂

caringiscreepy · 15/12/2018 11:42

A mouse. Although I did get a letter explaining that the cat might not like him very much and so it was for his own safety

ikltownofboothlehem · 15/12/2018 12:00

An Adventure Kit. I was desperate for one of these. Apparently my nana told Santa not to bring it because it was 'for boys'.

To ask if you ever asked for a gift from Santa that you never got?
Littlereen · 15/12/2018 12:02

Bit sad but all I remember of that time is never getting anything I asked for and that I gave up writing letters to him! I don’t think I asked for very expensive stuff, just think my parents did get what we asked for out of principle 🤷🏼‍♀️

ikltownofboothlehem · 15/12/2018 12:03

There's loads of Big Yellow Teapots on eBay Grin

ClaryFray · 15/12/2018 12:05

Wendy House with upstairs. Never ever got it. I had grand designs to live out in it. Running eletics and everything

mustnotbeapessimist · 15/12/2018 12:08

Mr Frosty too!
Cruel parents Wink

UnapologeticallyUnhinged · 15/12/2018 12:09

Also Mr Frosty! Whoever was doing their ad campaigns in the 1980's is an actual genius.
I asked Santa 3 years running for one and he never brought it. I was so upset and felt it was a personal smite. Then on Boxing Day of the third year my Mad Aunt (you know the one...with all the lipstick and the drinking) gave me one. I was so overcome I immediately got to work grinding ice and over the course of an hour made about 10 slushies using every one of the sickly flavoured High Fructose Corn Syrup sachets within (all consumed by myself) and promptly threw up on Mad Aunt's fur coat.

Lesson - don't believe the hype.

Also pertinent to note that I myself am now the Mad Aunt.

UnapologeticallyUnhinged · 15/12/2018 12:10

Oh but the one that got away was the My Little Pony show stable.

LaurieMarlow · 15/12/2018 13:12

The curse of getting what you want

Charley50 · 15/12/2018 14:31

@ScreamingValenta - i grew up in the 80s and I didn't want a Mr Frosty either. I was just coming on to write that.
I did want the penguin race though.

ScreamingValenta · 15/12/2018 14:36

Charley I'm tempted to start a thread for people who didn't want a Mr Frosty to declare themselves Grin. We could form a small but determined faction.

EmeraldShamrock · 15/12/2018 14:41

A boy doll with a Willie Grin

My sister always wanted orval the green duck. I seen the teddy of him for 4euro so I have him wrapped for her kindle.

ScreamingValenta · 15/12/2018 14:43

EmeraldShamrock My sister got a much wished-for Orville duck puppet for Christmas in 1982. It was a complete anti-climax.

ChocolateTearDrops · 15/12/2018 14:44

I just wanted anything that my younger sister wasn't given too. "So we can learn to play together" meaning that she would then deliberately break part of mine, then when I got upset, she would start wailing and then mine was taken away "for being mean".

Sad
ohwellinthatcasetryprunes · 15/12/2018 15:12

A pony. I asked for years. Sad

Bombaybunty · 15/12/2018 15:28

I wanted a Chopper bicycle. I was bought a strange bike that folded in half.
My brother found it highly amusing to loosen the folding mechanism just before I used it.

Pleasegodgotosleep · 15/12/2018 16:14

Also Mr Frosty! And to add insult to injury my younger sister got one the following year. I'm 40 and still annoyed by the injustice of it !!!
