Just reading AIBU and wondering if you’ve ever been flamed for something you posted?

I once got crucified for sharing that I was tired from geting up in the night to let me cat drink from the tap. Grin It was my first time at the rodeo and I was a bit thin skinned about it.

I’ve been here years now and I couldn’t give a shit anymore.

What have you been flamed for??

Calvinsmam that's very rude of them. I know it makes you thicker skinned but really on a DIY thread you shouldn't even have to embrace yourself for that.
(I bet your bathroom is lovely...I'm jealous as I need mine done!!)

Calvinsmam · 11/12/2018 00:40

Well I can recommend cladding, it’s made my life so much easier as it’s so easy to clean.

I also saw a comment yesterday that just said

‘You are obviously a Tory and an evil person’

That made me actually lol.

My elderly parents have cladding to be fair... immaculate ;-)

Hellomatey001 · 11/12/2018 00:46

I am now googling bathroom cladding at 12.46am.

I was flamed in a relationship thread, pretty much called a pathetic loser for having feelings for someone and wanting advice.

Weirdly someone then posted similar a couple of weeks later and the thread went much better for the op - more empathy and better advice

I think the tone is so often set by the first couple of responses.

kittencatmeow · 11/12/2018 01:21

Not sure it's quite flamed as such but I might count as getting my arse handed to me slightly for wanting to adopt a cat!

Raisinbrain · 11/12/2018 01:43

Yep a whole thread of flaming when I asked a question about engagement rings.
I deserved it to be fair 😂

WaterBird · 11/12/2018 01:48

Actually I think the worst type of flaming would be if your thread was genuine but ended up in the Night Watch topic. That would be pretty terrible.
But it seems like you typically have to do something blatantly ridiculous to have your thread pointed out to the NW.

Eliza9917 · 11/12/2018 10:48

What's the night watch topic? Why's it so bad to end up in there?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 11/12/2018 10:53

On the release of the film deathly hallows part two I was annihilated for saying Voldemort dies. One particular comment that had me amused was someone saying it may not have been as bad as me saying Sirius dies in book five but it’s still the principle of the thing. To which someone responded ‘Sirius dies in book five? Great! Thanks for the spoiler!’
It all got deleted though.

I was flamed when I posted a thread last year wondering whether I should rehome my 4 year old male cat because he could be quite aggressive sometimes and my DDs were afraid of him. There was also a lot of spraying and he couldn't get on with my other 3 cats.

But there were also some really helpful posters who recommended a Felliway plug-in (I'd used a spray before which wasn't much use), and this made such a difference. I now have a much happier cat, and I'm very glad I didn't rehome him. So I have reason to be very grateful to AIBU. Smile

I don't mind being told I'm U as long as people say why they think so. What I really hate are posts that just say 'YABU' or 'YABU followed by HTH (no it flipping well doesn't!).

Philomensapie · 11/12/2018 10:55

Using the term "hard of thinking".

Philomensapie · 11/12/2018 10:59

Awwlook you're wrong.

thighofrelief · 11/12/2018 11:21

I think you do learn with MN over time though. One crime is drip feeding - how are you supposed to answer a question that is put to you without doing so?! Some topics are always going to go wrong though, birth choices, infant feeding and animal adoption oddly.

thighofrelief · 11/12/2018 11:26

Oh God the worst is wedding / bridesmaid / hosting guests etiquette. If you dare to suggest that guests might be asked to bring dessert you're the devil incarnate. It makes me think those going nuts are those rich people who plead poverty, never host, regift everything and go everywhere empty handed.

YoThePussy · 11/12/2018 11:30

I have started AIBU threads and lost the plot completely and contradicted myself. I have a very short attention span so get bored with the answers sometimes. Have been flamed into orbit for it on
occasions. No problem, just change my username and start again.

What does piss me off is the constant accusing people of being trolls then the Mumsnet Mara wading in to flame throw.

YoThePussy · 11/12/2018 11:31

Mafia not Mara

thighofrelief · 11/12/2018 11:37

Pussy are you stalking me? I hope so!

thighofrelief · 11/12/2018 11:43

Blinded by tears of joy.

YoThePussy · 11/12/2018 11:49

thighofrelief always!

dizzydaisies · 11/12/2018 11:50

I once posted about the joy of soft, runny boiled eggs, but had the nerve to call them dippy eggs. Lordy, lordy, the drama!!

YoThePussy · 11/12/2018 11:51

Blinded and hysterical with tears of joy. In fact sitting in large puddle of tears.

WhyDontYouComeOnOver · 11/12/2018 12:22

You haven't made it til you've pissed someone off enough they make multiple accounts on here and Reddit to complain about how atrocious you are Wink
