To take Dd to Hospital

So Dd12 had a sore tummy yesterday. It's a band across her stomach from under her tummy button to the top of her thighs.

Last night she did 5 poos and vomited multiple times in the night.

This evening the pain is worse. 9.5/10. Pain killers are making no difference. Spasfon no difference either. She has a temp of 38.7. No vomit and no poo. She feels like she needs to poo. She hasn't eaten all day.

I've rung the French equivalent of 101. They said wait to see Dr. appointment at 11.45 tomorrow.

Tonight is the big student night so hospitals will be full later.

Do I go or not?

If you’re worried, take her. Not sure how people on here can make that decision for you

cheesywotnots · 06/12/2018 19:28

Yes, she needs to go to hospital to get it checked out, poor girl, I hope she feels better soon.

PermanentlyFrizzyHairBall · 06/12/2018 19:28

I would probably take her if you're worried. It's probably a bad tummy bug but better safe than sorry.

mineofuselessinformation · 06/12/2018 19:43

Go now to try and avoid the rush.
It might be a tummy bug, but it could also be appendicitis.

kw1091 · 06/12/2018 19:49

Yes go! Appendicitis often starts like that. Hope she’s ok xx

OneStepSideways · 06/12/2018 19:50

It could be a bug but also possible appendicitis? Does it hurt more when she moves? Is she moving around/fidgeting restlessly or keeping very still? If she's lying flat, can she sit up without pulling up on furniture or twisting onto an elbow? Are her abdominal muscles rigid?

Bagadverts · 06/12/2018 19:52

Has anything changed since you rang 101 equivalent? If it has phone them back. If not it's a judgment call for you. Does the French hospital system have the same pressures as U.K. - here it could be very busy anyway and even worse with studemts. will it be quiet now and only busy when the students get there?

helen650 · 06/12/2018 19:52

This sounds like when my niece had appendicitis. I would definitely take her. Hope she’s ok x

Cheby · 06/12/2018 19:54

Go. Could be appendicitis. Stomach bugs don’t usually cause 9.5/10 pain.

HashTagLil · 06/12/2018 19:58

Please take her, this doesn't sound like a bug.

Booboostwo · 06/12/2018 21:24

Try calling back the médecin de garde number and asking for an urgent appointment tonight, or look at this site for your local medicin de garde (available out of hours, I.e. nights, Sundays, etc.).

Wallywobbles · 06/12/2018 21:50

Thank you at the hospital. Seen by a nurse almost immediately. Waiting for the doc now.

V&D in the hospital. Temp up to 39.4. Tummy is supple but hurts a lot. Lying still but curled up. Very thirsty and hot.

I hope she's ok x

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 06/12/2018 21:55

Hopefully just a bug but you did the right thing

PumpkinKitty82 · 06/12/2018 21:55

How horrible for your dd. Hope she’s better soon

Elfontheshelfiswatchingyoutoo · 06/12/2018 21:58

Where are you op?

What do yiu mean the big student thing

Justbackfromnewwine · 06/12/2018 22:02

Good decision to go I think.
I’ve recently been sent to a&e twice with my dd by GP or 111 having never been before with any of my children (eldest is nearly 11). Both times I have been pretty surprised about other people’s threshold for going and realised that other people go a lot more readily than me (some of them for things I wouldn’t even have gone to GP for). But no one was made to feel they shouldn’t have come. It made me look back on at least one occasion of having a very sick child at home and multiple trips back & forth to a GP and thinking I wish I’d just gone to the hospital and got what dc needed faster.

Booboostwo · 06/12/2018 22:11

Your poor DD. Good decision to get help, hope the doctor can ease her pain soon.

JollyGiraffe · 06/12/2018 22:24

Glad she was seen so quickly! Fingers crossed for a speedt recovery.

InsomniacAnonymous · 06/12/2018 22:26

Your poor DD. I'm glad she's at the hospital and hope she's feeling better soon.

CoffeeCoffeeTea · 06/12/2018 22:26

So glad to hear you went to the hospital and your DD is being looked after. Hope she gets better soon.

Wannabeyorkshirelass · 06/12/2018 22:27

Tbh it sounds like a tummy bug to me but you need to follow your instincts with kids. Better to overreact than underreact. xx
