To take Dd to Hospital

So Dd12 had a sore tummy yesterday. It's a band across her stomach from under her tummy button to the top of her thighs.

Last night she did 5 poos and vomited multiple times in the night.

This evening the pain is worse. 9.5/10. Pain killers are making no difference. Spasfon no difference either. She has a temp of 38.7. No vomit and no poo. She feels like she needs to poo. She hasn't eaten all day.

I've rung the French equivalent of 101. They said wait to see Dr. appointment at 11.45 tomorrow.

Tonight is the big student night so hospitals will be full later.

Do I go or not?

The french health system is good. She will be looked after.

Thedukes · 08/12/2018 02:25

Hope your little one is also given some pain relief. Pain is not good. It's usually the first thing doctors treat once your observations are stable. Then they look at the surgical or medical team to review you (takes hours in the NHS).

Wallywobbles · 08/12/2018 02:35

Nothing apart from ganglions. I just don't get it. We had gastro a couple of weeks ago and she was fine within 48 hours and nothing like this pain. And she smells really wrong.

She had 500g paracetamol at midnight, so over 3 hours. Nothing else and it doesn't touch the pain, possibly knocks the fever a bit.

What are they doing for her now, OP? You must be so worried (and tired).

Wallywobbles · 08/12/2018 02:40

I'm shattered. Definitely not safe to drive home again.

OP posts:
Thedukes · 08/12/2018 02:48

Are they keeping her in overnight?

Armchairanarchist · 08/12/2018 02:52

Are they keeping her in?

panago · 08/12/2018 02:56

Did they do the scan yet OP?

Wallywobbles · 08/12/2018 03:21

Well they are keeping her in so that's good. And she now has a perfusion needle thing in her forearm. Brilliant nurse frankly cos it was blooming difficult to get in. She's had a bit of gas and air but she's not a fan. She's finally looking more relaxed after it though.

Thanks everyone for the moral support.

Hope they discover the source of the pain very soon and that all is resolved very quickly. Try to get at least a few zzz's or what the doctors say in the morning will go in one ear and out the other.

Quantumblue · 08/12/2018 03:33

So glad they are keeping her in and hope you get some answers quickly

Armchairanarchist · 08/12/2018 03:33

Hope you get to the bottom of it. Try to get some rest.

JeremyCorbynsCoat · 08/12/2018 03:34

I hope you get to the bottom of it soon OP

Thanks for you and DD

nocoolnamesleft · 08/12/2018 03:46

I'd still be worried about appendicitis, with that history, a neutrophilia, and that high a CRP. Ultrasound isn't that good at looking at guts. Has a surgeon reviewed her? Because I'd be dragging one down to see her if this was on my ward. Glad you're not going home!

brizzledrizzle · 08/12/2018 03:51

Wise decision to take her in, I hope she's feeling better soon.

kateandme · 08/12/2018 04:10

big hugs op.your doing so well.being very brave.glad they are keeping her in.dont give up until its sorted.
do try and sleep yourself yeh.even if its on the cahir next to her.do your hopstial allow a day bed next to her even?
you cant be exhausted.it will make stress and panic feel ten times worse.and you sure have been through it these last hours eh.
best of look.we are all here for you.xx

Notveryadventurousname · 08/12/2018 04:24

Good luck, such a relief she has been admitted. Are you on your own with her or do you have support at home - or a friend/relative that can come in and sit with her for a bit so you can get some sleep?

Fretfulparent · 08/12/2018 04:50

If she smells bad she may be in ketosis. Have they excluded diabetes?

Rtmhwales · 08/12/2018 05:34

Curious how you'd describe her smell. Also wondering about ketosis. Hope you all pull through today.

ApolloandDaphne · 08/12/2018 05:35

I hope they get to the bottom of this soon. You must all be shattered.

Greensiren2014 · 08/12/2018 05:37

I'm a nurse and haven't read any updates but think it sounds like she's septic, possibly with appendicitis. She needs to be on hospital xx

WinnerWinnerChickenDinner0 · 08/12/2018 06:06

Wow, hope you and dd are doing ok Flowers

Thedukes · 08/12/2018 06:12

A bad smell can come from infection also.

Thedukes · 08/12/2018 06:15

I wouldn't think this is diabetes. I couldn't read the blood results as far too tiny writing for me to read. Was there a blood sugar count in there? If she's being kept in overnight, her blood sugar will be something nurses do on admission (where I'm from anyway).
